Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Guadalupe Rodriguez, retired VA chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Jones was born in Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio and had been a resident of Amarillo for most of his life. He attended Tascosa High School and Texas State Technical Institute. After serving with the Navy, he worked as a journeyman plumber and novice electrician. Survivors include his parents, Maria and Bobby Jones of Amarillo; a sister, Jennifer Jobe and husband, Brian, of Amarillo; a brother, Charles Jones and wife, Jamie, of Amarillo; two sons, Miles Jones and Branick Jones, both of Canyon; three daughters, Tillarie Jones and Savannah Jones, both of Canyon, and Riley Jones of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Ashley Cates of Amarillo; and two nephews, Tristan Jobe and Tyler Jobe. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Hardy was born Jan. 16, 1915, in Amarillo. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1932. She had worked as a secretary at Santa Fe for Walter Irvin and at Amarillo Independent School District for Dr. Charles Rogers. She moved to Jackson in 1953 from Amarillo. Mrs. Hardy was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Jule Hardy. Survivors include two brothers, Richard P. Kenyon of Houston and William Charles Kenyon of Dallas; and a stepdaughter, Patsy Hardy Vick of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dixie Parker Dixie Parker, 87, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Parker was born Aug. 12, 1918, in Paducah to Joseph and Willie Jones Jordan. Prior to moving to Amarillo in 1975, she had lived in Dumas for 22 years. Mrs. Parker was a homemaker. She loved children’s ministry and taught Sunday school for many years. She was a Baptist. Mrs. Parker enjoyed dancing, gardening and loved life. She particularly enjoyed helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include four daughters, Peggy Miller, Wazetta Dickey, Doris Stout and Barbara Drinkard, all of Amarillo; two sons, Gary Parker of Seabrook and Johnny Parker of Amarillo; three sisters, Althea Parker of Eunice, N.M., Ermadine Brothers of Coldspring and Ynona Johnson of California; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gary Lynn Cook Gary Lynn Cook, 42, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 15, 2005. He had lived in Amarillo since 1971. Mr. Cook worked in the construction business as a tile setter. Mr. Bruce owned and operated All American Roofing and Bruce’s Roofing and Construction for several years. He loved his family and his dog, Scooter, who was his "Baby Boy." He was a hard worker and loved to help others. He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed dancing. He was "Husband, Dad, Pops and Gramps." He was loved by his church family and played a vital role operating the sound system. Vigil services will be at 5 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mass will be at noon Monday in St. Hyacinth’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Patrick Carathers celebrating and Bishop John W. Yanta, Bishop Emeritus L.T. Matthiesen and the priests of the diocese cocelebrating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Carathers was born in Floydada. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Merriam Elizabeth Ellefsen in Flagstaff, Ariz., in 1946. She passed away in 1997. He moved to Amarillo in 1951. He retired in 1986 after serving 44 years with Santa Fe Railway. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to spend time in Colorado trout fishing. He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years in 1997, and a son, Dennis Lee Carathers in 1998. Survivors include four sons, Michael Dunn Carathers of Lucas, Richard Elden Carathers of Amarillo, Patrick Dean Carathers of Borger and Bruce Kevin Carathers of Midland; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. Mr. Thrasher was born in Calera, Okla., and served with the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a steamfitter at Amarillo Air Force Base. Mr. Griffin was born Aug. 11, 1955, in Canyon to Billy Ray Griffin and Clara Sue Hardaway Griffin. He was a lifetime resident of Canyon and graduated from Canyon High School. He married Mary Herring in Littlefield in 1976. He was employed at Griffin Service Station and was a member of Cowboy Church. He was a very loving father and grandfather and a great friend to all. Mr. Kuykendall was born May 4, 1977, in Honolulu. He enjoyed fishing and playing sports. Mrs. Boyer was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, David; four sisters; seven brothers; and a son-in-law, James Urton. Kevin Deckard officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Memorial Park. Mr. Shelton was born May 10, 1937, in McLean, Texas, to Johnny D. Morris "Fotch" Shelton and Rosa Lee Darnell Shelton. He married Rogene Norris on Dec. 27, 1986, in Quinlan, Texas. He was a veteran of the Navy. He retired as a supervisor at E-Systems after 35 years. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a brother, Odis C. Shelton, and his parents. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Englunds Funeral Service Chapel in Slaton with Dr. Cleve Kerby officiating. Burial will be in Englewood Cemetery in Slaton. Mr. Scudder died Friday after a sudden illness. He was born Jan. 15, 1924, in Mineral Wells and then moved to Slaton shortly after his birth. He graduated from Slaton High School in 1941. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Pacific Theater in the Navy Air Corps. Kirby worked for Nunn Electric Appliance in Amarillo for 20 years before moving to Lubbock in 1984, where he was active in the real estate business. He was a Mason in Lubbock and previously in Amarillo and a member of the Khiva Shrine. Kirby married Edith Phillips on July 23, 1986, in Lubbock. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gary of Lubbock and Denny of Amarillo; a sister, Crystelle Sanders of El Paso; four grandchildren; and eight great- grandchildren.
