Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel. 4180 Canyon Drive with the Rev. Julius Early officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Helen was born in Amarillo on Oct. 31, 1944, to Herbert and Edythe Bural. She was a lifelong resident of Amarillo where she enjoyed church services at San Jacinto United Methodist Church. She was employed at the State Center Workshop where she enjoyed counting and packaging items for clients. She annually attended church camp at Camp New Dawn in Ceta Canyon. Other favorite activities included reading the TV Guide, yo-yos, Special Olympics bowling, visiting with family and friends, and holding babies. Helen loved everyone she met, and brought pure joy and laughter to all who were blessed by knowing her. She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Edythe Bural. Survivors include her brothers, Lee Brual of Amarillo, Gene Bural of Canyon, and Lynn Bural of Colleyville and their families, including her aunt, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The family suggests memorials be to Special Olympics, Camp New Dawn at Ceta Canyon, or Covenant Fellowship Church (formerly San Jacinto United Methodist Church). ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Felipe B. Gutierrez Felipe B. Gutierrez, 88, of Amarillo died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2005. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in St. John's Catholic Church with the Rev. Mieczyslaw Przepiora, pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in White Deer, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mr. Gutierrez was born April 3, 1917, in Borica, N.M. He retired in 1982 as a heavy equipment operator for Phillips Petroleum Co. after 43 years. Survivors include three sons, Joe Gutierrez and wife, Aline, of Amarillo, Ray Gutierrez of Borger and Leroy Gutierrez and wife, Cindy, of Bixby, Okla.; two daughters, Maida Villasenor and husband, Manny Perez, and Helen Hernandez and husband, Bobby. all of Amarillo; two sisters, Bennie Muniz of Taos, N.M. and Carolina Lucero of Albuquerque, N.M.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. Haynes Charles E. Haynes, 81, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Miami Cemetery in Miami with the Rev. Troy Richardson of Temple Baptist Church of Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Haynes was an American patriot, serving his country in WWII in the 44th Infantry Division. He was a prisoner of war, captured in France in 1944 and taken to a POW camp in Germany and ultimately moved to Stalag IVB. He escaped while marching toward Russia in April 1945. He proudly flew his American flag every day. Mr. Haynes was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Tahoka. He served Roberts County as a county judge for more than 20 years and was the owner/editor of the Miami Chief Newspaper for many years. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Haynes; Venita and Hank McPherson of Canadian, Greg Haynes of Miami, Randy and Mariwyn Webb of Amarillo, Gale and Bill Hasselbach of Monument, Colo.; two grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and loyal dog, Katy. Box 306, Miami, TX. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimmy S. Martinez Jimmy S. Martinez, 51, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Hector Gallegos, deacon, officiating. Mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Martinez was born and raised in Amarillo. He owned and operated J&M Tops and Trim and J&M Autos for more than 20 years. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Hispanic PGA of Amarillo. He enjoyed showing his 1968 Chevelle SS in the Make-A-Wish Car Shows and was a member of the Corvette Club. Mr. Martinez was a volunteer Santa for Texas Panhandle Community Services and was a regular contributor to many law enforcement charities. He married Salina Jimenez in 1974 at Amarillo. He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church and attended Our Lady of Guadalupe. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Michelle Martinez. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Maria Martinez of Bakersfield, Calif.; a son, Mario Martinez of Amarillo; his mother, Mary Martinez of Amarillo; four sisters, Annie Herrera of Amarillo, Elia Garcia of Clinton, Okla., Barbara Paladino of Chicago and Kristina Ouwenga of New York; six brothers, Leroy Martinez of Highland, Calif., Michael Martinez Jr. of Houston, Greg Martinez of Amarillo and Richard Martinez, Johnny Martinez and Sammy Martinez, all of Los Angeles, Calif.; eight grandchildren, Clarissa, Clarinda, Mario Jr., Gabriel, Michael, Frank, Freedom and Justice; and a great-granddaughter, Alizane. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Domingo Samora Domingo Samora, 66, of Amarillo died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2005, in Lubbock. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mr. Samora was born Aug. 20, 1939. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther Samora in 2003, and two brothers, Clemente and Jose Samora. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Arrangements are by Billings Funeral Home. Reva Arlene (Atkinson) Latta was born Sept. 2, 1911, to Lyle and Edith (Dobson) Atkinson at Goltry. She married John H. Lattan on Feb. 1, 1931, and they lived on their farm north of Fargo where all their children were born for 71 years of their married life. Survivors includ five children, Dwight Latta and John W. Latta, both of Fort Supply, Ernest Latta of Amarillo, Texas, Pat Highfill of Mooreland, and Joyce Hamilton of Fargo; 12 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; nine great-great- grandchildren; four sisters and four brothers, Kathrine Latta Gilbert of Mooreland, Buster Atkinson of Garden City, Kan., Lucille Wisner Champ of Fargo, Bud Atkinson of Pueblo, Colo., Faye Purvis of Beulah, Colo., Betty Martin of Pueblo, Colo., Leon Atkinson of Fort Smith, Ark., and Keith Atkinson of Florence, Colo.
