Craghead Ruby N. Craghead, 85, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Friday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Craghead was born in Motley County and was raised in Cottle County. She was valedictorian of her 1936 graduating class at Dumont High School. She moved to Amarillo in 1937 to attend beauty school. She married James F. Craghead in 1939 in Amarillo. He passed away in 1990. Mrs. Craghead was a hairdresser until 1962, when she started working with her husband in their business, Jim's Carbonic. She retired in 1986. She was a charter member of Temple Baptist Church. Mrs. Craghead loved to garden, loved to eat coffee ice cream, and most of all, loved being "Mammy" to her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, three sisters and four brothers. Survivors include three daughters, Wynona Day of Amarillo, Jan Clowe and husband, Dick, of Albuquerque, N.M., and Carol Pipes and husband, Bill, of Richmond, Va.; three sisters, Clara Vick of Dimmitt, Kathrine Nolan of Michigan and Naomi Bonner of Austin; 12 grandchildren, Kristi, Kelly, Julie, Blair, Bryan, Jill, David, Doug, Lisa, Laurie, Kevin, and Cindy; 19 great- grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren. Haynes, 81, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Miami Cemetery in Miami with the Rev. Troy Richardson of Temple Baptist Church of Amarillo officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Haynes was an American patriot, serving his country in WWII in the 44th Infantry Division. He was a prisoner of war, captured in France in 1944 and taken to a POW camp in Germany and ultimately moved to Stalag IVB. He escaped while marching toward Russia in April 1945. He proudly flew his American flag every day. Mr. Haynes was born Sept. 8, 1924, in Tahoka. He served Roberts County as a county judge for more than 20 years and was the owner/editor of the Miami Chief Newspaper for many years. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Haynes; Venita and Hank McPherson of Canadian, Greg Haynes of Miami, Randy and Mariwyn Webb of Amarillo, Gale and Bill Hasselbach of Monument, Colo.; two grandchildren; three great- grandchildren; and loyal dog, Katy. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Faith City Mission with pastor Donnie Lane of Faith City Mission and longtime friend, James Simpson, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Smith was born June 21, 1968, in Amarillo. She was raised in Amarillo except for five years the family lived and worked in Tehran, Iran. She attended Amarillo Christian Academy, graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1987 and attended Amarillo College. She lived in Knoxville, Tenn., until she returned to Amarillo in July 2004. She married Donald Ralph Smith II on Feb. 20, 2005, at Faith City Mission Chapel by pastor Donnie Lane of City Church. She was the weekend supervisor of the Family Shelter at Faith City Mission and was actively involved with the Coalition for the Homeless and the Christian Campaign for the Homeless. She was a volunteer and spokesperson for CASA, AGAPE, AA, NA and City Church. She served on the Steering Committee for the parenting/care giving annual seminar, "Parenting, The Underdeveloped Skill." She and her husband, Don, were members of Grace Community Fellowship. Mrs. Smith's greatest heartfelt desire was to lend a helping hand to the homeless, the needy, the abused and the lost, who with faith, would be freed from the bonds that held them and could live a successful and victorious life in Christ. She was an angel of mercy, a ray of sunshine and an inspiration of hope to all who knew her. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Nicolas Martinez, Justin Johnson and Jeremiah Johnson, all of Amarillo; her parents, Calvin and Shirley Benton Hunt of Amarillo and Bill LaPorte of Harrodsburg, Ky; her maternal grandmother, Wilma Benton of Lorenzo; her paternal grandfather, William LaPorte of Wetomka, Okla.; two sisters, Christiann Hunt of Amarillo and Melissa Ann LaPorte of Harrodsburg; five brothers, Gary Dale Eye and wife, Laura, of Granbury, Bill LaPorte and wife, Keri, of Trinidad, Colo., Michael LaPorte of the U.S. Military deployed to Iraq, Jason LaPorte and wife, Ashley, and Justin LaPorte all of Pueblo, Colo.; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including Raven and T. Mrs. Boxwell was born Oct. 3, 1914, in Grove City, Minn. She lived in Dumas from 1937 until moving to Perryton in 1944. She married Alton B. Boxwell on April 2, 1937, in Grove City. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Perryton and the Ochiltree General Hospital Auxiliary and a past-member of the Perryton Sorosis Club. Mrs. Boxwell was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; her parents, Nels Anderson and Emily Wilhelmina Christenson; her husband in 1968; and a sister, Harriet Fugelso in 2004. Mr. Gardner was born July 6, 1918, in Rising Star. He founded Full Gospel Mission Church in 1958 and was the faithful pastor there all those years. Survivors include three daughters, Patsy Jones of Clovis, N.M., Robbie Gail Crafton of Sierra Vista, Ariz., and Jo Ann Sims of Tulia; two sons, William Douglas "Buddy" Gardner Jr. of Plainview and Monty Ray Gardner; two brothers, Carlton Gardner and Bonnie Gail Gardner; a sister, Sue Ward; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stokes enjoyed her career as a cashier from 1973 to 1993 with Gibson Discount, Ideals Groceries and Franks Groceries, where she met her wonderful lifelong friends. In 1993 she started a second career in the medical field with Pampa Regional Medical Center and retired in 2003. Survivors include her husband, Alvin Ray Stokes I of Pampa; three daughters, Pattie Herrin of Cleveland, Texas, Brenda Gardner of Pampa and Lesa Mooney of Sand Springs, Okla.; three sisters, Peggy Harrell of Ballinger, Charline Reynolds of Amarillo and Pat McAnear of Clarendon; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Maurice Kelsie Wilson Sr. DALHART - Maurice Wilson, 87, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Mr. Wilson was born July 30, 1918, in Conception Junction, Mo., to Raymond Kelsie Wilson and Ethyl May Alsbury Wilson. He partnered in the construction business as well as real estate and mobile home sales. Survivors include his wife, Madonna Nelson Wilson; a son, Maurice K. Mr. Wright was born April 9, 1926, in Foreman, Ark., to Johnny Wright and Sethie Wright. He married Charlene Williams on July 17, 1961, in Tom, Okla. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home of Childress. Mr. Moya was born Aug. 12, 1975, in Harlingen. He was an agent for the U.S. Border Patrol. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Village Presbyterian Church Chapel. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, in Citizens Cemetery in Clarendon, Texas. Arrangements are by D.W. Newcomer's Sons Overland Park Chapel in Overland Park. Mr. Beville a retired IBM sales executive, was born Nov. 19, 1914, in Clarendon to Lelia Ross Beville and Harwood Beville. He graduated from Texas A&M in 1939 with a degree in business. As a major in the Army's 90th infantry division, he landed on Normandy Beach on D-Day. Throughout his life, he lived in Clarendon, Amarillo, Texas, Dallas and Beaumont, Texas, Armonk, N.Y., Wichita and Prairie Village. He was active in the Leawood Lions Club, the Masonic Lodge, Town & Country Investment Club, St. Luke's Cardiac Rehab and Village Presbyterian Church. In 1955, he became one of the first owners of the original Ford Thunderbird. This began one of his lifetime passions of owning and driving Ford Thunderbirds. Pat's positive attitude and friendly personality was a inspiration to everyone he associated with, whether for a few minutes or for many years, and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. He was preceded in death by two wives, Bernice C. Beville in 1974 and Mary Lou Beville in 2003, and two brothers, John Ross Beville and Ross Harwood Beville. Survivors include a son, Don Ross Beville and daughter-in-law, Gayle Lamborn Beville, and two adored grandsons, Kevin Patrick Beville and Brandon Cole Beville, all of Colleyville, Texas. Visitation will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the church. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Real Roger McCoy KANSAS CITY, MO. - Real Roger McCoy, 47, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005. Mr. McCoy was born April 2, 1958, in Guymon, Okla., to Norman and Mary Louise McCoy. He attended Grace Christian Academy. He worked for his uncle, Ben Moore at Ford Tire Shop in Amarillo, Texas, for several years. He moved to Chelsea, Okla., and continued to work repairing tires and doing road-side assistance for the truckers going through. In 1992, at 34 years old, he was diagnosed with type I diabetes. He remained 6 feet tall and 125 pounds, since he was 14, until the past two years when further health problems developed secondary to the diabetes. He will be missed by his family and his many friends in Missouri, the Tulsa, Okla., area and Amarillo. Survivors include his parents Norman McCoy and Mary Louise and Dean Cullop; three sisters, Loretta Gosselin of Kansas City, Betty Warren and Norma Dellis of Amarillo; seven nieces; five nephews; two great-nieces; and four great- nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Brooks Chapel Funeral Directors with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Graham was the son of Charles and Lillian Graham of Canyon. He graduated from Canyon High School and received a degree in theater arts from West Texas State College. He received recognition as an Eagle Scout at the Boy Scouts Jamboree in New York City. He served a two-year term in the Air Force at Minot Air Force Base in North Dakota. Mr Graham was an avid Ham Radio operator and was very proud of his call KB5-EDP. He enjoyed his time spent with his Ham buddies. He was also a member of the Amarillo Astronomy Club and time spent with his telescope and club members was also very enjoyable for him. David's music and movie collections were treasures that brought hours of enjoyment to him. The 1950s, 1960s and John Wayne were his favorites. Photography was a favorite hobby. David had a kind heart. He read his Bible daily and always wished the best for his family and friends. "Have a good day" could be heard over the Ham radio waves and to those he met daily. Survivors include a sister, Wanda Richardson of Allen; a nephew, Chip Richardson of South Haven, Miss., a niece, Amanda Duckworth of Princeton; an aunt, Norma LeClaire of Atherton, Calif.; and an uncle, Buddy Congdon of Brookhaven, Miss. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Cooper was born Dec. 13, 1948, in Clifton Springs, N.Y., to John and Frances Garney Kepner. She worked in civil service at Cannon Air Force Base for the past 10 years and enjoyed doing needle point. Burial will be in National Cemetery in Santa Fe by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Ronquillo was born June 29, 1933, in Los Ojitos. He served in the Army from 1956 to 1959 and in the Army National Guard from 1959 to 1979.
