Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Damon Deaton, pastor of Faith Community Church in Canyon, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hayhurst was born July 6, 1950, to Drury "Pete" and Naomi Hayhurst in Amarillo. He was a graduate of Tascosa High School. He served in the Army from 1968 to 1971. While serving in Vietnam, Ron was awarded the Bronze Star for exemplary service for seven months and several other medals. Upon leaving the service, Ron attended Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches, where he received his bachelor of science degree in forestry in 1977. He had been employed by the United States Postal Service for 28 years. He was active in the postal workers union. Ron had a lifelong passion for hunting and fishing which he enjoyed with his son. His proudest accomplishment was being "Dad." He was preceded in death by his father, "Pete" and a brother, Richard Evans "Ricky" Hayhurst. Survivors include his mother, Naomi Hayhurst of Las Vegas; a son, Randall Hayhurst of Amarillo; Madonna Lindley of the home; and untold friends and family. Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Cleophus "Cleo" Sides Cleophus "Cleo" Sides, 83, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Billy Nickell and Carl Cantrell, pastoral care pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery with military honors by DAV No. 26. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street. Mr. Sides was born Feb. 5, 1922, in Milton to Thomas Erskon Sides and Myrtle Mae Floyd Sides. He was employed by the Santa Fe Railway for several years before being inducted into the Army, where he served 28 months in the 163rd U.S. Combat Infantry in the U.S. 41st Division, earning the Purple Heart. After his discharge, he worked two more years with the Santa Fe Railway. The last 29 years of his employment were with the Bureau of Mines with the Helium Activity, retiring in 1981. He married Jane Adams in November 1941. He spent his retirement fulfilling his lifelong passion of fishing and spent many wonderful times on fishing trips with many of his co-workers, catching a 54-pound catfish and each trip was a great joy to him. He loved the Lord and his wife of 63 years. He loved teaching his grandsons fishing and camping out. He was always happy to show the picture of the big fish. Another love was his home and the care of his yard. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Liz Howard and husband, Doug, of Lubbock; a son, Tom Sides and wife, Antionette, of Phoenix; six grandchildren, Wade Howard of Lubbock, Lane Howard of San Antonio, Chris Howard of Austin, Monya Keatts of Lone Oak, Jodona Campbell of Dallas and James Sides of Las Vegas; and 11 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pablo Gonzales Rangel Sr. Pablo Gonzales Rangel Sr., 84, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 23, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Rosendo De Los Santos, pastor of Iglesia Betel, and Benito Lucero, associate pastor of Iglesia Betel, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Rangel was born Jan. 26, 1921, in Mercedes to Romulo Rangel and Francisca Gonzales. He married Romelia Ruiz in October 1970 and had lived in Amarillo for 30 years. He was retired from the janitorial business. He was a member of Iglesia Betel. He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Jeronima Garza; four brothers; three sisters; and a grandchild. Survivors include his wife; seven daughters, Paulina Rodriguez, Amelia Cantu, Elizabeth Sanchez, Monceratt Camacho, Teresa Rangel, Rosa Moore and Zulema Pina, all of Amarillo; five sons, Jose Hernandez, Pablo Rangel Jr., Samuel Rangel, Isaac Rangel and Jacob Rangel, all of Amarillo; 28 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Juan Rangel of Paulding, Ohio, Ramon Rangel of Defiance, Ohio; and Severino Rangel of Mercedes, Calif. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elmer Henry VanCamp Elmer Henry VanCamp, 76, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. VanCamp was born Sept. 17, 1929, in Wheeler and was a longtime resident of Amarillo. He had been a salesman with Southwest Barber & Beauty Supply. Survivors include several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Mary Jane Mitchusson CLAYTON, N.M. - Mary Jane Mitchusson, 96, died Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, in Albuquerque. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Rammage, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Memorial Cemetery by Hass Funeral Directors. Mrs. Mitchusson was born April 19, 1909, in Elm River, Wayne County, Ill., to Clarence E. Webster and Lutishie Hudson Webster. She married James Albert Mitchusson on Feb. 21, 1930, in Clayton. Survivors include two sons, Albert Edward "A.E." Mitchusson of Albuquerque and James Leslie Mitchusson of Amarillo, Texas; a sister, Ostella Wright of Amarillo; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She married Frank W. Sherman Jr. on Sept. 12, 1931, in West Haven, Conn. Survivors include a son, the Rev. Frank Sherman of Clovis, and a grandson. Thornton, Clovis, NM 88101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Travis Hardin CANADIAN - Travis Hardin, 84, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in Pie Flat Cemetery in Roll, Okla., with Ben Mathers officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home. Mr. Hardin was born May 22, 1921, in Crawford, Okla., to the late Mr. William Hardin and Mrs. Bessie Mae Bullard Hardin. He was a graduate of Crawford High School in Crawford. He married Wanda Mae Barber on Sept. 19, 1940, in Crawford. She preceded him in death on March 2, 1990. Travis moved to Canadian in 1954 from Hammon, Okla. He was a rancher from 1955 to 1962. He then worked at the Canadian Grain CO-OP as a mill foreman until retiring in 1983. He then owned and operated a liquid feed business. He also loved to hunt, fish, dance and bowl with his wife and family. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Jack Hardin, and a sister, June Barber. Survivors include two sons, Wendell G. Hardin and wife, Rana, of Canadian and Charles T. Hardin and wife, Roberta, of Elk City, Okla.; a sister, Wanzell Davis of Elk City; and six grandchildren, Terrel Hardin of Canadian, Tim Hardin of Elk City, Ty Hardin of Sayre, Okla., Julie Hubl of Wichita, Kan., Vicky Arnold of Texas City and Kendra Hardin of Chicago. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Mr. Dollar attended school in Amarillo and was involved in the automotive parts business in the Texas Panhandle. He was a veteran of the Army. Survivors include his wife, Theresa; two sons, Kenneth and Keith; two daughters, Cheryl and Jan; two sisters, Marie and Donna; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
