A prayer service will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today in Martin Road Chapel Funeral and Cremation Services, 1505 Martin Road. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Church of Christ on Evergreen with Joe Salas, minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. DeLaCruz was born April 18, 1929, in Amarillo. He served in the Army and worked for Potter County. Survivors include his wife, Dolores DeLaCruz; three daughters, Ruth Jimenez, Elvira Padilia and Becky DeLaCruz, all of Amarillo; two sons, David DeLaCruz of Dallas and Joel DeLaCruz of Amarillo; a sister, Clariata DeLaCruz of Phoenix; and a brother, Manuel DeLaCruz of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shirley Ann Irvin Shirley Ann Irvin, 66, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005. Memorial services will be scheduled at a later date. Cremation is by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Shirley was born April 15, 1939, to Charles and Maude Kirtley. She moved from Jonesboro, La., to Amarillo 42 years ago. She is a member of Pampa Baptist Temple where she married Joe Irvin in 1964. Shirley and Joe raised two of their grandchildren, Timmy and Zach. Shirley loved being involved in 4-H. Most of all Shirley loved being "momma." Mrs. Gomez was a lifelong resident of Amarillo and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. She married Carlos Gomez on February 21, 1955, in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, a son, Salvador Taloy Jimenez, a grandson, Manuel Jimenez and a granddaughter, Virgie Jiminez. Higgins Glen Ray "G.R." Higgins, 79, of Amarillo died Monday, Sept. 26, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. Trent Sisemore officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon. Glen Ray Higgins was born on Sept. 19, 1926, at Maude, Okla., one of five children of James and Edith Higgins. He and his brothers, Jerry, Eldridge and James Edward Higgins and sister, Dolores Lowe grew up primarily in Borger. Glen joined the Navy at 18 and served overseas for three years as a Navy Radioman during World War II. He received medals in the European African Middle Eastern, Asiatic Pacific and American campaigns and two sets of air crew wings. In 1946, he married Ramona Joe Forrest at Borger. Glen learned the plastering trade from his father. His work took him and his family to many places including California, Indiana and the Bahamas. In 1957, the family settled in Amarillo and Glen started the Higgins Plastering Company. He was blessed with a successful business and a crew of wonderful, loyal workers who became lifelong friends. Glen and Ramona retired in 1986 to enjoy living, fishing, and spending time with family and friends. Glen and his family are Baptist. Glen was preceded in death by a son, Terry Higgins, whom they lost at a young age. Glen has been blessed with a large and loving family, which includes lifelong friends and fishing buddies Billy and Jeanette Smallwood. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Glynda Warren-Keasler and husband, Jay, and Rhonda Maloney and husband, Dwaine, all of Amarillo; three grandchildren, Laina Ray Grimland, Erik Glen Maloney and Tony Warren; and three great-grandchildren, Dalton and Kaitlin Grimland and Braden Warren. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Freedom Baptist Church with Alvin Walker, senior pastor, officiating. Alice was born Aug. 23, 1949. She was an active member of ASHA (American Speech, Language and Hearing Association) and a member of Amarillo South Church. As Director of Rehabilitation at Craig Methodist Retirement System, she helped establish their program in 2002. She was an enthusiastic Christian who dedicated her life to the service of others through her personal and professional endeavors. She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Colvin, and her parents, William and Lorene Colvin. Survivors include her husband, Jack Hornbuckle; a daughter, Christa Jefferis; two sons, Jeremy Jefferis and Mitchell Jefferis; a stepson, Nathan Hornbuckle; a brother, Dwayne Colvin; and a sister, Kathleen Boyd. He was a member of Caprock Christian Fellowship and Family Life Fellowship and had volunteered at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center. He married Mary Ruth Toten on May 11, 1947. She preceded him in death on June 1, 2004. Survivors include a son, C.M. David Tiller was born Feb. 12, 1950, to Wayne and Billie Tiller in Amherst. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1968 and West Texas University in 1973. David was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. He enjoyed guitars, camping and riding motorcycles in Palo Duro Canyon. David worked for the City of Amarillo in Information Services as a computer programer /analyst for the last 28 years. He was preceded in death by his father, Wayne Tiller, on March 7, 1979. Lottie Ruth Wheeler was called home Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Mrs. Wheeler was a very talented seamstress who owned Lottie's Drapery Shop for many years. She was active in civic clubs. She will be remembered for her strong faith in God and her positive outlook on life. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, a sister, her first and second husbands, Bruce N. "Tim" Timmens, 93, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with Seth Timmens, grandson, officiating. Mr. Timmens was born Jan. 19, 1912, in Malvern, Ark. He was a resident of Pampa from 1950 until 1962, when he moved to Tulsa, Okla. He lived in Tulsa until moving to Amarillo in 1996. He was a Naval flight instructor during World War II and was discharged as a lieutenant commander. He was superintendent for the O. O. Fee Drilling Co. from 1950 until 1957. He was a longtime pilot and flight instructor in Pampa, Siloam Springs, Ark., and Tulsa, and was a longtime aviator and barnstormer. Survivors inlcude a daughter, Timara Graves of Russellville, Ark.; two sons, Terry Timmens of Fritch and Talley Timmens of Canyon; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was a registered nurse for more than 30 years. Her passion was to serve people. She was employed by Dumas Memorial Nursing and Rehab/Moore County Hospital District as an RN-C. Sandy loved playing with her grandchildren and crafting. She was a volunteer with the AWANA program at Sunray Baptist Church. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Mowery Funeral Service Chapel with the Rev. Taud Boatman officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hastings was born Jan. 10, 1908, in Uniontown, Penn., to Thomas and Anna Kral. She was raised in Fisher County, Texas, attending Longworth and Roby schools and graduating as valedictorian of the Roby High School Class of 1924. During her high school years, she won interscholastic league contests. She continued her education attending McMurry College, then attended Texas Tech University, where she earned her bachelor's degree in Physical Education and Science in 1934. While at Texas Tech, she was a member of the Women's Athletic Association and was awarded the Double "T" letter for women, for outstanding sports activity. She later attended West Texas State University earning her master's degree in Education in 1951. She was married in 1935 to Albert Hastings and lived in San Antonio for a short time. After her husband's death, she moved to Amarillo, where she continued teaching and raised her son, Thom. She had an extensive teaching career in the field of science, physical education and coaching girls' athletic events, winning honors in various sports. She began her work in Fisher County, teaching at Capitola and Royston, and coaching girls' basketball. She taught girls physical education at Sam Houston Junior High in Amarillo, for 33 years until her retirement in 1971. She belonged to numerous professional organizations, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, A.A.U.W., was president of the Pilot Club, a women's service organization, as well as other community affairs. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including china painting and traveling. She spent her last year living with her son in Owasso. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, grandson, Todd Hastings, three sisters, Edith Kral, Sara Kral, Margaret Baumgardner, and four brothers, Ed Kral, Ben Kral, Bud Kral, and Ted Kral. Loving family members include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas A. and Shirley, of Owasso; two grandchildren, Clint Hastings and Laurie Hastings, both of Tulsa; a brother and sister-in-law, Bob and Willa Kral, of Corsicana, Texas; and two sisters, Marie McCain, of Early, Texas, and Irene Madden of Amarillo.
