Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Daniel K. Shaeffer officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Mrs. Case was born Feb. 21, 1914, in Elida, N.M., to Clyde B. and Lottie Peters. She finished high school in Lawton, Okla., in 1933. She married Tom Case on Feb. 20, 1937, in Walters, Okla. She was preceded in death by her parents, four sisters and a daughter, Marie Pederson. Survivors include her husband; a son, Robert Case and wife, Gayle of Blue Springs, Mo.; a grandson, Brandon Case of Blue Springs; two nieces, Patricia Peters of Lawton and Glenna Melkus of Larned, Kan. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Patricia Porter Patricia Porter, 59, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005. Services will be at a later date by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Patricia Porter, born May 23, 1946, in Beacon, N.Y., lived in Amarillo for six years. She worked for Anderson Merchandisers. Survivors include her mother, Jeanette Cinnirella of Belen, N.M.; two sons, Eric Lanzo and Robert Lanzo, both of Amarillo; a daughter, Patricia Lanzo of Los Lunas, N.M.; and two grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dorothy Helen Jones Dorothy Helen Jones, 73, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Plainview. Georgia St. Mrs. Jones was born April 1, 1932, in Ranger to Dean and Cynthia Ella Gentry. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents, sister, husband and two sons. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St. Ms. Harris was born Oct. 13, 1940, in Fort Worth to Lester Arthur and Mary Lee Lewis. Mary Beth's lifelong passions were her relationship with Christ and her love for family, music, flowers, nature, Spam and chocolate. Her proudest success was her role as a Christian Mother. The amazing blessings she leaves to those who knew her will be eternal. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Mary Lee and a brother, Jamie Lawrence Lewis. Survivors include two daughters, Julie McDaniel of Lexington, Ky., and Sheila Simon of Denton; two sons, Tony Harris of Amarillo and Alan Harris of Shreveport, La.; two sisters, Nancy Schmitt of Albuquerque, N.M., and Ann Blackard of Canyon; and 11 grandchildren, Michael, Grant and Lauren McDaniel, Alan and Austin Simon, Jonathan, Jaden, Jacob, Jessica, Jasmine and Graham Harris. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Brenda Joyce Holt Brenda Joyce Holt, 64, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2005. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Broadway Baptist Church in Fritch with the Rev. Bill Browning officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Holt was born March 21, 1941, in Dallas and was raised in Clarendon. She was a 1959 graduate of Clarendon High School and also graduated from Amarillo College School of Nursing. She married James Holt in 1959 in Clarendon. He passed away in 1994. She moved to Amarillo in 1976 and moved to Fritch in 1991. She worked as a nurse at the Northwest Texas Hospital Pavilion from 1985 until 1989. Mrs. Holt loved her church where she served as treasurer and played the piano. She was preceded in death by her brother, J.L. Paulk. Survivors include two sons, Forest Holt and Joe-Tom Holt, both of Amarillo; two daughters, Brenda Cotney and Natalie Lyons, both of Amarillo; a sister, Penny Mooney of Amarillo; a brother, Oby Paulk Jr. of Amarillo; and 11 grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Erlinda Maldonado Erlinda Maldonado, 68, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Rosary was said at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. today in Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Monsignor Rex Nicholl officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Maldonado was born July 27, 1937, in Las Conchas, N.M., and married Guillermo Maldonado in May 1967. They were married for 38 years. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was an active member of the Guadalupanas. She taught school for more than 25 years, having taught at Sanborn Elementary, Opportunity School and also at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic School. She was preceded in death by her parents and her great aunt, Silviana Herrera. She will be greatly missed, but lives on through her children. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Ramona Trevino Salgado, Dolores Maldonado and Maria Maldonado, all of Amarillo; two sons, Nathan Maldonado and Ben Trevino, both of Las Vegas, Nev.; six sisters, Rita Mejia of Casa Grande, Ariz., Romanita Lucero of Alexandria, Va., Amelia Mungia of Yorktown, Barbara Silva, Isabel Rakestraw and Susie Grim, all of Amarillo; four brothers, Samuel Lucero, Jimmy Lucero, Morris Lucero, and Augustine Lucero, all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area James Robert "J.B." Cates WILDORADO - James Robert "J.B." Cates, 38, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Hart Cemetery with Dr. Ron Muller, pastor of Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors. Mr. Cates was born April 28, 1967, in Plainview. He attended school in Hart through his junior year and graduated from Floydada High School. After graduation he entered the Army, then went to Stephenville and attended Tarleton State. Mr. Cates then came to Amarillo and attended TSTI. He resided in Wildorado the last several years. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Floydada. He was preceded in death by a grandfather, Charles Owen Hankins; grandparents, W.B. and Eula Mae Cates; and a brother Richard Shane Kendrick. Survivors include his parents, David and Vicki Cates of Lubbock; grandparents, Jo and Lee Mason of Wildorado; two daughters, Randi Lee Cates and Lindsey Paige Cates, both of Cotton Center; a brother, Adam Lee Cates of Phoenix; a sister, Kerri Lee Ford of Lubbock; and an uncle, Steve Hankins of Fort Worth. Mrs. Heard was employed by the Texas Railroad Commission, Northern Natural Gas and the Honda Motorcycle Shop. She was a member of Pampa Chapter No. 65 Order of the Eastern Star, VFW Auxiliary Post No. 1657 and was past president of the Desk and Derrick Club of Pampa and Borger. Jefferson St., Amarillo, TX 79101. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Harmon Wilson LEVELLAND - Harmon Wilson, 72, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Celebration of Life services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in Resthaven Funeral Home Abbey Chapel with Ted Bouldin of Stratford, a fellow veteran, officiating. Harmon Lee Wilson was born Oct. 6, 1932, to Bud Lee and Ruth Handley Wilson. They moved to Pep when he was an infant and lived in Pep until his senior year in high school, when he moved to Ropesville. After he graduated from high school, he entered the U.S. Marines and served two tours of duty in Korea. After his discharge, he returned to Levelland and began farming. Harmon enjoyed square dancing and calling square dances. He also enjoyed photography, fishing and astronomy. Harmon was a member of the Callers Lab, Texas State Callers Association, serving as President, Toastmasters, the DAV and Astronomy Club of Texas Tech. Harmon was preceded in death by his father, Bud Lee Wilson; a son, Jack Lee Wilson; parents-in-law, Fred and Viola Ivy; and brother-in-law, Boyd Smith. Mr. Sparks was born Sept. 11, 1917, in Leedy, Okla. He married Arline Dozier on June 21, 1950, in Clovis. A celebration of Bruce's life will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, in Granbury Church of God. Arrangements are by Wiley Funeral Home. Surrounded by family, Bruce "Jeep" Harlan Fowler walked into the arms of Jesus on Sept. 22, 2005, at 10:28 p.m. as his family released him from theirs. Bruce painted his way into the homes and hearts of many people in the community. He was a compassionate and loving man who touched many lives. He dearly loved his children, gardening, afternoon coffee on the porch with his wife, UT football and feeding the birds. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Seless Fowler; brother, James Fowler; and granddaughter, Halie Diggs. He leaves behind his wife, Maria Fowler, though married only a few short years, packed immeasurable love and adventure into that time; his children, Bruce Fowler Jr. of Azle, Monte Diggs of Round Rock, Connie Slagle of Amarillo and Janelle Vanderford of Amarillo; four stepchildren; 21 grandchildren; brothers, Tommy Fowler of Granbury, Dale Fowler of Granbury, Mack Fowler of Amarillo and David "Butch" Fowler of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Laverne Tyler MESA, ARIZ. - Laverne Tyler, 88, formerly of Quitaque, Texas, died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Resthaven Cemetery in Quitaque with the Rev. Jeff Addison of First Baptist Church of Quitaque officiating. Arrangements are by Myers-Chancellor Funeral Directors. Mrs. Tyler was born Nov. 9, 1916, and married Grady Tyler. Survivors include her nephew and niece, Mel and Marie Epps of Mesa, who cared for her; and 25 other nieces and nephews. Ray Sanderson, 74, died Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005. Private family services with military honors will be at a later date in Rose Hill Cemetery in Tulia. Arrangements are by Agape Funeral Chapel in Lubbock. Mr. Sanderson was born March 11, 1931, in Tulia to Phil and Blanch Mellott Sanderson. His professional career included serving as an Assistant District Attorney for Lubbock County, City Attorney and City Judge for the City of Abernathy, County Attorney for Hale County and many years of private law practice. Survivors include three children, David of Abernathy, Gary of Denton and Jane Evans of Lubbock ; five grandchildren; and two brothers, Phil Sanderson of Waco and Don Sanderson of Tulia.
