Relatives and friends will gather at 11:30 a.m. Sunday at Skooterz on Sixth Avenue for a memorial motorcycle run. Memorial celebration will follow the run at 2:30 p.m. at Skooterz. Mr. Hooks was born Dec. 8, 1933, in Birmingham, Ala. He later moved to Georgia after joining the Army. He moved to Amarillo in 1971, where he was known by many as "Diamond Jim." He owned and operated several businesses throughout his lifetime including "Champs and Cheers" and "Busters" night clubs. He was an avid Harley rider and a member of H.O.G. Club in Amarillo. He will be greatly missed by many. Mr. Hooks was preceded in death by a son, Chip Hooks, and a grandson, James "Buggie" Gregory. Survivors include his daughters, Leesa Rutledge and Chris McIntyre, both of Amarillo; grandchildren, Dani McIntyre and Zach Rutledge, also of Amarillo; a great-grandchild, who will be born soon; and many friends. The family suggests memorials be to March of Dimes or St. Jude Childrenís Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimmy Dwain Hinton Jimmy Dwain Hinton, 66, of Amarillo died Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in the home of Mary and Larry Barlow, 2121 Westcliff Parkway with the Rev. Bob Schroeder of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Mr. Hinton was born July 11, 1939, in Quanah to L.E. and Thelma Hinton. He served eight years in the U.S. Army, 22 years in the U.S. Reserve and retired after more than 30 years at Pantex. He was preceded in death by his father, L.E. Hinton Sr. and a brother, L.E. Hinton Jr. Survivors include two sons, Steve Hinton and Debi of Rancho Cordova, Calif., Eric Hinton and Sarah, of Dallas; their mother, Anita Hinton of Amarillo; his mother, Thelma Hinton of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Rhoda Stelchek of Carrollton, Mary Barlow of Amarillo and Susan Janow of Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 4 p.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Randy Schrader of God of Wonders officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mrs. Ott was born Aug. 28, 1933, in Fort Worth and graduated from Amarillo High School. She married Kenneth Ott in 1954 in Clayton, N.M. He passed away in 1998. She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for many years and worked as a receptionist for the Texas Workforce Commission. Survivors include a daughter, Susan Swaim of Dumas; five sons, Kenny Ott, Mike Ott, Billy Ott, Andy Ott and Tim Ott, all of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the Panhandle War Memorial. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Charles Wayne Hughes PERRYTON - Charles Wayne Hughes, 58, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home Chapel with Mikel Petersen officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery. Mr. Hughes was born Dec. 30, 1946, in Bruce, Miss. He married Linda Sibley on Aug. 26, 1977, in Perryton. He lived in the area since 1964. Mr. Hughes worked for Key Energy for 28 years as a truck driver and assistant manager. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois Lancaster Hughes; two brothers, James Earl Hughes and Ottis Hughes; and a sister, Shirley Hughes. Survivors include his father, Millard Hughes of Mississippi; his wife; three daughters, Judy Jones of Perryton, Roxanna Byrd of Borger and Jennifer Huckabee of Lubbock; two sons, Gene Webster of Pueblo, Colo., and Kevin Webster of Perryton; three sisters, Pearline Saxon, Jewel Dean Duvall and Jane Farmer, all of Mississippi; and nine grandchildren. Luther Sr., 69, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Dumas. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Stratford Cemetery with Steve Baskin, family friend, officiating. Arrangements are by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. Luther was born Aug. 26, 1936. He lived in Dumas for the past 10 years, after living in Stratford most of his life. He married Centa Neumayr on May 5, 1973, in Clayton, N.M. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Stratford. For 42 years he was owner/operator of Sunray Locker in Sunray. He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Lee Cox, and two sons, Robert Emerson and Tyson Emerson. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Carl Henry Luther Jr. and Russell C. Luther and wife, Cheryl, all of Amarillo, Dennis J. Burial will be in Olton Cemetery by Foskey-Lilley-McGill Funeral Homes. Mrs. Sopher was born Nov. 7, 1922, in Honeygrove. She married Doug Sopher on Oct. 19, 1943, in Lubbock. Burial was in Memory Gardens in Pampa by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. Holmes was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Ray, Okla. He was a construction foreman for Huber Carbon Black for 36 years. Survivors include his wife, El Marie Holmes; a daughter, Sheri Snyder of Amarillo; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Sumner, Pampa, TX 79065. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joe Stokes HALE CENTER - Joe Stokes, 76, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Garland Street Church of Christ in Plainview with Silas Short officiating. Burial will be in Hale Center Cemetery by Freeman-Abell Funeral Home. Mr. Stokes was born March 8, 1929, in OíDonnell. He graduated with a bachelor of science degree from Texas A&M in 1950. He married Barbara Laney on Jan. 13, 1951, in Hale Center. He served in the Army during the Korean War. He lived in Hale Center over 50 years and was an area farmer. He served on the Hale Center Co-Op board and Great Plains Ag Credit board. He served for 17 years on the Plainview Production Credit Association, which merged with Amarillo PCA, and was employed as a loan officer for them for 14 years. He was chairman of the board for Hi-Plains Hospital. He was a member of Hale Center Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Chris Stokes in 1994, and a brother, Johnny Stokes. Survivors include his wife Barbara Stokes; a son, Steve and wife, Vicki Stokes, of Plainview; a daughter, Karoline and her husband, Kurt Ashmore, of Wellington; a brother, Frank Stokes of Carrollton; and four grandchildren. Hintergardt, 82, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Victory Memorial United Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Burkett, pastor, and the Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home. Mr. Hintergardt was born Dec. 11, 1922, in Hugoton, Kan. He was employed at the Post Engineers at the Liberal air base during World War II and worked for Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline as an auxiliary engineer for 32 years, retiring in 1983. Survivors include his wife, Mary Hintergardt; two sons, Mike Hintergardt of Little Rock, Ark., and Fred Hintergardt of Guymon; two daughters, Trudy Green of Midland, Texas, and Rhonda Blades of Amarillo, Texas; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a brother, Don Hintergardt of Pierce, Colo. Memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel in Clovis. Mr. Hunter was born Jan. 31, 1946, in Clovis to Clay Francis and Helen Calder Hunter. Survivors include a sister, Edith Winegeart of Tucumcari; a brother, Johnny Hunter of Nowata, Okla.; an uncle, Jack Calder of Clovis; three aunts, Martha Jeske of Bakersfield, Calif., Glenda Calder and Sharon Calder, both of Clovis; and numerous nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere William "Willie" H. Blagg AUSTIN - William "Willie" H. Blagg, 81, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Wilke-Clay-Fish Funeral Home with Pat Brandenburg of Fairfax, Okla., and the Rev. Del Sanford of Sheridan, nephews, officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. "Willie" was born Oct. 25, 1923, to Benjamin F. and Margie Blagg near Bluffton, Ark. He married Gelene Pennington on Nov. 19, 1942, in Dumas. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and in December 1942, he was called to duty. He attended machinist school in San Diego, and in March 1943, he started serving on board a destroyer, the USS Brown. He spent the next three years in the South Pacific Battle Zone. Willie and his wife, Gelene, lived in Austin since 2001. He was a Methodist and had worked for more than 40 years in the oil field business in the Panhandle area of Texas. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Norman Blagg, in 1995. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Gelene; a son, Frank and wife, Vickie, of Dripping Springs; six grandchildren, Anne Marie Taylor and Jeremy W. F. Blagg of Alvin, Laura Denise Belyeu of San Antonio, Andrea Genelle Pylate of Baytown, Tara Jo Bieck of San Diego, and Magen Leigh Hyatt of Austin; two sisters, Imo Gene McCarty and Molly Ruth Martin, both of Amarillo; and six great-grandchildren. Mrs. Whitten was born Nov. 4, 1939, in New York City to the late William Bowerman and Dorothy Dunbar Bowerman. She married Raymond Whitten in January 1957. Survivors inlcude a daughter, Brakelle Purnell of McKinney; a son, Brock Whitten of Midland; three brothers, Mike Hodge of McKinney and Nance Hodge and Vance Hodge, both of Dallas; four grandchildren; and her stepfather, H.J.
