HILL Ray H. Hill, 79, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Hill was born Jan. 4, 1929, to John and Lena Wylie Hill in Crosbyton, and moved to Hill County soon afterward. He married Gracie Marsh on Dec. 21, 1957. They settled in Amarillo in 1964. Mr. Hill worked for Western Electric, a part of AT&T, until his retirement. Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include two sons, Allan Hill and wife, Linda, of Cobolo and Thomas G. Hill and wife, Elaine, of Amarillo; four sisters, Euna Mae Davidson of Monahans, Floy Watson of Whitney, Harmena Cook of Waco and Barbara Marsh of Katy; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Debra Jo Pilcher Debra Jo Pilcher, 52, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday in Cornerstone Baptist Church with Coy Wylie, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Ms. Pilcher was born July 31, 1953, in Amarillo. She had worked as a pediatric nurse. Newton Cole, Tin Cup Community Chapel chaplain of Tin Cup, Colo., officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born July 23, 1931, in Pampa to Dr. and Mrs. R. M. Johnson. He was in business from the late 1950s to the 1980s as owner of Custom Car and Supply and Smyth Auto Supply. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved golfing and the outdoors. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford- Walker Mortuary Inc., 509 N. Hughes St. Mrs. Burnell was born Sept. 30, 1923, in Sweetwater, where she was reared and attended public school. She came to Amarillo in 1955 from Albuquerque, N.M., and reitred from Amarillo Indepdendent School District as a custodian. Survivors include a daughter, La Shown Matthews-Perry; two sisters, Ferlean McPherson of Sweetwater and Bernice Crumrine of Amarillo; and two grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bill Myers Bill Myers of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Robert E. Field, Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Myers and his wife, Bonnie, were married for 49 years. He was a member of the Baptist church. He served two terms in the Vietnam War and retired from the Army in 1976. While in Vietnam, he received the Distinguished Flying Cross. Bill and Bonnie moved to Amarillo in 1980. Bill went to work for Pantex and retired in 2001. He was preceded in death by his father, mother, two sisters and a granddaughter. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Survivors include his wife, Bonnie; two daughters, Barbara Myers of Bethany, Okla., and Carolyn Myers of Macomb, Mich.; a son, Mike Myers of Amarillo; two sisters, Goldie Laveen of Washburn and Helen Anthony of Seattle; three brothers, Jack Myers of Galesburg, Ill., Tommy Myers and Johnny Myers, both of Jacksonville, Fla. Vogeler, 71, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. There will be a private memorial service in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with the Rev. R.P. Vogeler, brother, officiating. Ms. Vogeler was born Jan. 10, 1934, in Hancock, Mich. She was a graduate of Ishpeming High School in Michigan. She later attended Augustana Hospital School of Nursing in Chicago, where she became a registered nurse. She was a surgical nurse for 45 years. She has been a resident of Amarillo for the last 20 years and loved traveling worldwide. Survivors inlcude a sister, Margaret Ingrish and husband, Jim, of Des Plaines, Ill.; two brothers, Henry J. Vogeler and wife, Suzanne, of Amarillo and R. Peter Vogeler and wife, DeAnna, of Pekin, N.Y.; two nephews, H. Kurt Vogeler and David J. Ingrish; three nieces, Gail L. Ingrish, Sandra J. Vogeler and Maria B. Mrs. Sailor was born May 18, 1931, in Kelton and was a lifelong resident of Pampa. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include a daughter, Theresa Davis of Pampa; a son, Artie Sailor III of Pampa; three sisters, Odessa Mooney and Doretta Moore, both of Wheeler, and Oleta Ellis of New Braunfels; two brothers, Odis Calcote of McLean and Thurman Calcote of Kelton; and three grandchildren. Box 621, Pampa, TX 79066-0621. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Albert Cardenas Sr. HEREFORD - Albert Cardenas Sr., 80, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Parkside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Bruce Hernandez officiating. Burial will be in West Park Cemetery. Mr. Cardenas was born Nov. 8, 1924, in San Antonio, the son of Victoriano and Aquelina Cardenas. He was a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II. Mr. Cardenas fought in many campaigns including Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the Distinguished Unit Badge, the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with five Bronze Stars and the WWII Victory Medal. Upon his discharge from the Army, Mr. Cardenas married Amelia DeAnda on June 26, 1953, in Croswell, Mich., and moved to Hereford, where he worked for many farmers in Deaf Smith County before his retirement. He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Amelia; two sons, Albert Cardenas Jr. and wife, Elena, of Hereford and Victor Cardenas and wife, Jenny, of San Diego; two daughters, Rebecca Olivarez and Olivia Luna and husband, George, all of Hereford; a brother, Don Cardenas of Amarillo; three sisters, Maria Vargas of San Marcos and Lupe Solis and Adela Fernandez, both of Lockhart; eight grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Mrs. Henderson was born Jan. 18, 1929, in Levelland to Leon and Viola Sanders. She married Melvin Henderson on Jan. 18, 1947, in Levelland. Survivors include her husband; three sons, Keith Henderson of Amarillo, Ronny Henderson of Hereford and Billy Henderson of Vega; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mr. Miller was born Sept. 2, 1920, in Wellington. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army, and a retired stillman for Phillips Petroleum Co. Survivors include three sons, Jerry Mack Makinson of Tempe, Ariz., Melvin Eugene Makinson of Sisseton, S.D., and William Robert Doane; a daughter, Royce Ann Muniz of Alvarado; three brothers, Jute Miller and Dink Miller, both of Memphis, and Joe Miller; a sister, Shirley Riley of Memphis; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- James Roy Scribner SPEARMAN - James Roy Scribner, 56, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Mr. Scribner was born Feb. 7, 1949, in Borger. He was a truck driver and a lifetime resident of the area. He was preceded in death by his father, Jerald Wayne Scribner, in 1991. Survivors include his grandson, Logan Love of Hopkinsville, Ky.; his mother, Betty Scribner of Spearman; two daughters, Lee Ann Love of Hopkinsville and Jill Vasquez of Lubbock; a son, Chad Puryear of Lubbock; two brothers Jerald Ray Scribner of Spearman and Johnny Scribner of Perryton; and two sisters, Judy Peoples of Henryetta, Okla., and Vickie Millsap of Perryton. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park by Wood-Dunning Funeral Home. Mr. Setliff was born April 28, 1914, in Creta, Okla., to George and Minnie Setliff. He married Dale Morrison on Nov. 26, 1936, and they shared almost 68 years of marriage. Survivors include two daughters, Martha Rhoades and Myra Booth Reece, both of Lubbock; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Cloie Stephens of Amarillo and Dorris Babb of Pembroke Pines, Fla. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Garden of Devotion in Borger by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. West was born Sept. 13, 1919, in Atwood, Okla. He lived in Fritch 45 years before moving to Dumas seven years ago. He married Ruth Dendy on Sept. 14, 1940, in Shawnee, Okla. Mr. West was a member of First United Methodist Church in Dumas. He retired from Phillips Petroleum after 30 years. He was preceded in death by a brother, Truman West. Survivors include his wife; two sons, James "Jim" and wife, Lou, of Fritch and William "Bill" and wife, Paula, of Dumas; a daughter, Mary Jordon and husband, Neal, of Plano; seven grandchildren, Darin, Traci, Stephanie, Darmon, Joseph, Brad and Jennifer; 11 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Imogene Sherry of Holdenville, Okla. Second, Dumas, TX 79029. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lucille "Shorty" Wilson DALHART - Lucille "Shorty" Wilson, 93, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Barry Walker, minister of First Christian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Lucille grew to 5 feet, 8 inches and was a basketball star in high school, but because at age 6 a boy nicknamed "Shorty" Wolf took a liking to her, her brothers started teasing her by calling her "Shorty." She became engaged to Richard Wilson at age 16 as a sophomore and because of school and the Depression finally married seven years later in 1934 and moved to Pampa. Survivors include a son, Jim Wilson and his wife, Jo, of Dalhart; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and three stepgreat-grandchildren. Burial will be in Heart Cemetery by Johnson's Good Samaritan Funeral Service of Booker. Mr. Slovacek was born Jan. 1, 1930, to Leo and Esther Hoover Slovacek in Beaver County, Okla. He married Velma Ruth Smith on Nov. 27, 1949, at First Baptist Church in Booker. Survivors include his wife; a son, Gary of Beaumont; a daughter, Jan Duke of Amarillo; two brothers, Clive Slovacek of Beaver County and Cecil Slovacek of Booker; a sister, Fern Bunch of Booker; three grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Bobby Lee Mote BEAVER, OKLA. - Bobby Lee Mote, 50, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. Burial will be in Pioneer Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service. Mr. Mote was born March 15, 1955, in Beaver County to Lester Lee and Karen Sue Hoover Mote. He was a driller in the oil field and was a resident of Beaver County all his life.
