"Bob" Johnson Robert M. "Bob" Johnson, 74, died Sunday, Oct. 2, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Chaplain Colonel Newton Cole, Tin Cup Community Chapel of Tin Cup, Colo., officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Johnson was born July 23, 1931, in Pampa to Dr. and Mrs. R. M. Johnson. He was in business from the late 1950s to the 1980s as owner of Custom Car and Supply and Smyth Auto Supply. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. He loved golfing and the outdoors. Rusty Dickerson, senior pastor at St. Paul United Methodist Church, officiating. Mrs. Roberts was born June 19, 1931, in Breckenridge and graduated from Wichita Falls High School. She married L.K. "Buzz" Roberts in August 1950 in Wichita Falls. She attended North Texas State University in Denton and worked for Continental Airlines for 15 years and later for Todo el Mundo Travel Service for four years. In retirement, she became an avid golfer at Tascosa Country Club. She was a docent of Amarillo Art Center and being an avid reader herself, enjoyed mentoring in the HOSTS program. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. She was a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband, L.K. "Buzz" Roberts of Amarillo; three sons, Lanny Roberts, Rick Roberts and wife, Ellen, all of Durango, Colo., and Randy Roberts of Scottsdale, Ariz.; a brother, Jim Ward of Amarillo; and three grandchildren, Caitlin Coy Roberts, Ben Austin Roberts and Kayce Roberts. She came to Amarillo in 1955 from Albuquerque, N.M., and retired from Amarillo Public School District as a custodian. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. Mrs. Blaylock was born Dec. 15, 1929, in McLean to Raymond and Juanita Smith. She married Leroy Blaylock on Nov. 16, 1945, in McLean. Survivors include two sons, Roy Blaylock of Amarillo and Ray Blaylock of Lubbock; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Januta PLAINVIEW - Michael "Mike" N. Januta, 83, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2005. Mass was at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Alice Catholic Church. Burial was in Plainview Cemetery by Lemons Funeral Home. Mr. Januta was born Feb. 22, 1922, in Eastern Europe, the son of Antoni and Agnieszka Januta. He married Anna Chomicz in 1952, and they were married 53 years. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Richard Januta of Sunnyvale and Stanley Januta of Plainview; and five grandchildren. He loved working with radio- controlled race cars and electric trains and was a baker and pastry chef. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Newman was born June 20, 1962, in Borger. She was a lifetime area resident, a homemaker and loved to read. She married Norman Newman on Sept. 15, 1979, in Skellytown. She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Jo Anne Annis, and a sister, Carla Jo Smith. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Kimberly Michelle Newman, Camilla Renee Newman and Carla Jo Newman, all of Pampa; a brother, Billy Jack Annis and his child of Nashville, Tenn.; four sisters, Debra and Dwayne Short and their children of Borger, Renee and Jackie Woods and their children of Skellytown, April Annis and her children of Borger and Rachel and Troy Brown and their children of Maple Hill, N.C.; and Brenda Phares, whom she loved as her second mother. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomas Vannoy Slack PERRYTON - Thomas Vannoy Slack, 89, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon with the Rev. Harrol Waterbury officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home. Mr. Slack was born Aug. 7, 1916, in Randall County. He lived in Perryton since 1941, moving from Chilicothe. He married Myrtis Wright on July 18, 1937, in Panhandle. He was a farmer and rancher, farming south of Perryton since 1956. He was a member of First Baptist Church. He coached in Perryton from 1941 to 1946 and in the early 1940s in Medicine Mound and Chilicothe. He graduated from WTSU in 1938 where he played varsity football. He was a lifelong Buff supporter. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Vannoy and Sadie Cleveland Slack; his wife in 2000; and an infant daughter, Jerri Vee Slack in 1945. Survivors include a son, Phil Slack and wife, Jonell, of Perryton; two daughters, Sydney Brints and husband, Norman, of Vernon and Shay Cronin and husband, Dick, of Rockwall; seven grandchildren, Ryan Slack of Amarillo, Kara Slack of Lubbock, Clint Brints and wife, Lauri, Chad Brints and wife, Adrian, and Ky Brints, all of Vernon, Casey Cronin of Rockwall and Keely Dyska and husband, Jacob, of North Richland Hills; five great-grandchildren, Kyle, Brandon and Tyler Brints and Cali and Caitlin Brints, all of Vernon; three sisters, Ila Jennings of Canyon and Jean Lockhart and Mae Coffee, both of Austin; a nephew, Gowdy Slack and wife, Jannette, of Iowa Park; and a great- nephew, Tom Garrett Slack of Iowa Park. Burial will be in Dalhart Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home of Dalhart. Mr. Pinner was born Aug. 24, 1933, in Dalhart to Oval and Mary A. Orr Pinner. After receiving his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he moved to Austin, where he started Pinner Construction with his brother, Charles Pinner. Mrs. Davis was born Nov. 8, 1917, to John and Grace Quigley Fitzpatrick in Saint Marys, Kan., and was later adopted by William and Mary O'Neal Fitzpatrick. She married Cecil Davis on Sept. 2, 1939, in Amarillo, Texas. Mr. Barby was born Sept. 3, 1915, in the family sod two-room home west of Knowles to Louis and Edith Pearl Stewart Barby. He married Dorothy Jean Allen on Dec. 24, 1942, and later married Gwenda Lea Haight on June 15, 1958, in Raton, N.M. Survivors include two sons, Allen Lewis Barby of Laverne and William "Bill" C. Barby of Meade, Kan.; a daughter, Jean Ann O'Brien of Kansas City, Kan.; a sister, Donna Carrol Starks of Elmdale, Kan.; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Cal was a former resident of Vega, Texas, and Canyon, Texas. He was game warden for the Panhandle region of Texas from 1949-1962. Survivors include his wife, Gayle; two sons, Tad Lovelace of Indiahoma and Deryn of Lawton; and five grandchildren. Haley MEXICO, MO. - Florence R. Haley, 81, died Monday, Aug. 29, 2005. Services were Sept. 1 in Centennial Baptist Church. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 29 in Leib Cemetery in Pringle-Morse, Texas, by Arnold Funeral Home. Florence was born July 13, 1924, to a pioneer couple, Harrison B. and Ella Parks in Moore County, Texas, and was the youngest of their three children. She grew up in the Pringle-Morse area and was a graduate of Pringle High School. She married Charles C. Thompson of Amarillo, Texas, in 1946. They were the parents of two children, Larry and Cynthia. Florence married Lowell "Joe" Moore of Dallas in 1986, and he died in 1994. In 2000, Florence married William "Bill" Haley of Mexico, who died later the same year. During the 1970s, Florence owned and operated a drapery and upholstery business in Mexico. In the same community, she supervised the women at the Handi-Shop. In 1978, Florence moved from Missouri to Texas where she was employed at Arrowhead Office Supply of Dallas. She moved back to Missouri in 1994. She was a very active and dedicated member of Centennial Baptist Church in Mexico. She lived at The King's Daughters' Home in Mexico since August 2003. She was preceded in death by husbands Joe Moore and Bill Haley; a sister, Virgie Mae Cambern; and a brother, Harrison Bailey Parks. Survivors include a son, Larry Thompson and wife, Sarah, of Mexico; a daughter, Cynthia Kelsey and husband, Mark, of Auburn, Wash.; two grandchildren, Scott Thompson of St. Charles and Kayla Thompson of Mexico; stepchildren, Carolyn Davis and Stuart Moore of Waco, Texas, Billy Haley and wife, Wanda, and Roger Haley and wife, Doris, all of Missouri; a sister-in- law, Laverne Parks of Morse, Texas; several cousins including Dean Leib and wife, Linda, of Pringle-Morse; nephews, Lynn Parks and Wade Parks and wife, Rosemary, of Morse; and nieces, Sharon Kurklin and husband, Gene, of Petersburg, Texas, and Sylvia Faris and husband, Kenneth, of Louisville, Ky. Arrangements are by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mrs. Paine, a former resident of Bovina, was born Aug. 6, 1923, in Los Angeles to Lester and Linnie Ponder Smith. She married L.D. Rundell on May 14, 1944, in Texico, N.M.; she married Tom Paine on July 8, 1960, in Farwell. Survivors include two sons, Kim Rundell of Nazareth and Scottie Rundell of Georgetown; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
