Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Mount Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. James L. Collins, pastor, the Rev. V.P. Perry, eulogist, the Rev. Benjamin F. Nickerson and the Rev. Roosevelt Nickerson officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Ruby Faye Fowlks-Nickerson was born to the late Esses Fowlks II and Susan Iverson-Fowlks in Hope, Ark. She was reared and attended Elmo schools. She married the late O.D. Nickerson Sr. on July, 7, 1931, in Kaufman County. The family moved to Childress in 1945 and to Amarillo in 1956. She was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church where she served faithfully as a Sunday school teacher and member of the Ruth Circle. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Stars and Herions of Jericho. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers and six sisters. Survivors include five sons, O.D. Nickerson Jr. and Cecil Nickerson, both of Amarillo, Roy Nickerson of Houston, Leonard Nickerson of Amarillo and Vernon Nickerson of Manhattan Beach, Calif.; four daughters, Ruby L. Smith of Childress, Joyce M. Frost and Chres Nickerson of Amarillo and Sandra F. Nickerson of DeSoto; two brothers, Acie Fowlks of Amarillo and John H. Fowlks of Los Angeles. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Raymond Hernandez Raymond Hernandez, 68, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with Spike Maldonado, pastor of New Life International, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Hernandez was born March 19, 1937, to Ramon and Isabel Hernandez and was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. He married Sue Bowers in 1958 in Tulia and retired from Southwestern Bell after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Mark Hernandez of Lubbock and David Hernandez of Amarillo; a daughter, DíNisia Dustman of Calhan, Colo.; three brothers, Isidro Hernandez, David Hernandez and Albert Hernandez, all of Amarillo; three sisters, Bertha Navarette, Julia Garcia and Sally Hernandez, all of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anita Voncile Alexander Anita Voncile Alexander, 88, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Conway, senior pastor of Westminster Presbyterian Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Alexander, a resident of Amarillo since 1936, was born in Marietta, Okla. She was a homemaker and also worked as a clerk at Colbertís and Blackburnís. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. She married Dean E. Alexander in 1936, and he preceded her in death in 1990 after 54 years of marriage. She was also preceded in death by two sisters, four brothers and a grandchild. Survivors include a daughter, Rosemary Mayes and husband, Lyndol, of Amarillo; a son, Jerry Dean Alexander and wife, Sylvia, of El Dorado, Ark.; six grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Samuel H. Brown Samuel H. Brown, 71, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005. Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. D.D. Fincher, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Samuel "Sam" Brown was born April 30, 1934, in Union County, N.C. to the late George Brown Sr. and Mary Cuthbertson Brown. At the age of 17, he moved to Baltimore and began his employment with American Smelting and Refinery Co. After the closing of the Baltimore plant, he transferred to the Amarillo Asarco plant as supervisor in 1975. He retired from Asarco on May 31, 1995, after 39 years of service. He had been a member of Jenkins Chapel Baptist Church since 1991. He served as vice president of the senior choir, assistant Sunday school superintendent, menís Sunday school teacher, Laymans president, chairman of finance, member of trustees and chairman of deacons. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Geraldine; four sons, Michael Brown of Baltimore, Tony Brown and wife, Bonnie, Craig Brown and wife, Pamela, all of San Antonio and Mark Brown of Amarillo; two brothers, Grady Brown and wife, Viola, of Newport News, Va., and Jessie Brown of Plainfield, N.J.; four brothers-in-law, Albert Bowie Jr. and wife, Corine, McKinley Bowie and wife, Evelyn, Thedore Bowie and Roland Bowie, all of Baltimore; a sister-in-law, Kaletha Gaither of Baltimore; a devoted friend and brother, James "Jimmy" Williams and wife, Louise, of Amarillo; 14 grandchildren; and four great- grandchildren. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Roddam was born April 1, 1919, in Cade, Okla., to Rollins and Molly Spence. She became a Christian at an early age and was baptized in Shawnee Creek. She married M.H. Roddam on March 27, 1943. She was a faithful church member and loved her church family at South Lawn Baptist Church. Mary was a wonderful and loving mother and Mamaw and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1974; a daughter, Lois Nelson in 1988; four brothers and six sisters. Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn Peck and Jannette Sooter and husband, Charles, all of Amarillo; eight grandchildren, Jackie Padgett, Jennifer Higley, Brenda Covel and Becky Coker, all of Amarillo, Jessica Young of Fort Smith, Ark., Jeff Peck of Wichita Falls, Robin Patterson of Spring Port, Mich., and Wally Nelson of Salt Lake City; 15 great-grandchildren; five great- great-grandchildren; a sister, Lucille Pierce of Huntington Beach, Calif.; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special nephew, Johnny Spence of Bokchito, Okla. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Central Church of Christ auditorium with Dr. Dan Bouchelle, minister, officiating. Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday in Woodman Cemetery in Mount Pleasant with Larry Bilbo, minister of Southside Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. James was born July 18, 1943, in Comfort to James and Lydia Goforth. He graduated from the University of Texas and from Washington University Medical School in St. Louis. He served his internship at Johns Hopkins and his residency at Southwestern in Dallas. He served in the U. S. Army as a Major for two years. He had been a practicing pathologist in Amarillo since 1974. He was past president of the Baptist St. Anthonyís Medical Staff. Jim loved to hunt and fish. He was extremely loving and caring for all his family and friends. He married Brenda Lee on Nov. 20, 1971, in Mount Pleasant. Survivors include his wife, Brenda; a daughter, Nicole Leigh Goforth of Houston; a son, Clint, and his wife, Julia Rittenberry Goforth, of Amarillo; a grandson, Knox Austin Goforth of Amarillo; a sister, Katherine and her husband, Ted Masser, of Fredericksburg; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Joseph and Maurine Lee of Mount Pleasant; two sisters-in-law, Jonette McCarty of Dallas and Laura Lee of Mount Pleasant; three brothers-in-law, Mike McCarty of Dallas, Bill Lee of Mount Pleasant, and Mark Lee of Austin; three nieces, Tara Masser Philips and her husband, Bryan, of Fredericksburg, Meredith McCarthy Winezewski and her husband, T.J., of Houston, and Ashley McCarthy of Houston; and three nephews, Tres Masser and wife, Beth, of Austin, Joshua Lee of Mount Pleasant and Andrew Lee of Mount Pleasant. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. George Haddox of Hollywood Community Church officiating. Mr. Lundegreen was born June 29, 1919, in Amarillo to Alma J. and Cora Mae Lundegreen. He worked in machine maintenance for Asarco before retiring in 1975. He helped build Cliffside Baptist Church, where he was a member and served as a deacon. Survivors include a number of nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area J.W. "Booty" Bryant CHILDRESS - J.W. "Booty" Bryant, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in First United Methodist Church with Dr. Mike Henderson and the Rev. Johnny Robertson officiating. Burial will be in Childress Cemetery by Johnson Funeral Home. Married Aug. 14, 1948, in Childress, Booty and Tootsie were married 57 years. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of First United Methodist Church and Hughes Bible class. Survivors include his wife, Juanita "Tootsie" Bryant; two sons, Paul Bryant of Tell and Lynn Bryant of Tyler; a daughter, Deanna Bryant of Nashville, Tenn.; a sister, Joyce Harris of Wellington; four grandchildren; and a great- grandchild. Tribble MEMPHIS - Audrey B. Tribble, 91, died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of Christ in Memphis with Tom Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mrs. Tribble was born Dec. 6, 1913, in Fairview. She was raised in Bolls Orphans Home and graduated from school there when she was 16. She and Homer Tribble were married on May 25, 1947, in Memphis. He preceded her in death on Jan. 2, 1982. Mrs. Tribble graduated from West Texas Teachers College. She began her teaching career in Quail, where she taught three years. She moved to Memphis in 1941, where she taught a total of 42 years. She was the county librarian for 10 years, and worked at Braniganís Jewelry in Memphis for 20 years. Mrs. Tribble was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma and was a den mother, serving as merit badge counselor until 1990. She was a member of Church of Christ in Memphis. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Boggs, and a sister, Reba Harris. Survivors include two sons, Neil Tribble and wife, Sue, of Childress and Bob Tribble and wife, Sherry, of Memphis; a brother, Derwood Boggs of Waco; a sister, Ima Harris of Kerrville; four grandchildren, Michael Tribble, Nikki Robison and husband, John, and Ami Tribble, all of Memphis, and Bill David Tribble and wife, Sandra, of Childress; several nieces and nephews; and was anticipating the arrival of her first great-grandchild. He married Doris Pugh on Oct. 23, 1938, in Childress. Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike Marsalis of Waynoka, Okla.; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mrs. Carpenter was born March 10, 1929, in Clovis to Jake and Ethel Eller. She was a central part of the administrative offices of Clovis Municipal Schools, serving as secretary to three superintendents. Survivors include her husband of 59 years, Cleo Carpenter; a brother, Dr. Thomas Orville Eller of Plano, Texas; a son, Mark Carpenter of Clovis; two daughters, Pam Carpenter of Albuquerque and Carol Koch of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Restlawn Cemetery in Liberal, Kan., by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Gaona was born May 19, 1918, in Beaver County to William Thomas Potter and Stella Marie Sims. She married Clifford Wakefield on Nov. 28, 1941, and later married Nick Gaona on Oct. 25, 1986.
