Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Hal Smith of Northridge Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Richardson was born in Oklahoma to Noah and Ethel McNeal Richardson, the eldest of seven. He grew up in Childress and married Juanita Wilson on Dec. 23, 1944, in Hollis, Okla. They moved to Amarillo in 1947. He retired from Pantex after 35 years in fire protection. He was a Navy veteran and proudly served on the USS Indianapolis and the USS Pocomoke. He was a member of San Jacinto Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Bill in 1992 and Jasper in January 2005. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jim of Waxahachie; a daughter, Jan Inman of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Charlene Harris of McAlester, Okla., and Johnnie Littlejohn and Evah Van Winkle, both of Amarillo; a brother, R.C. "Buster" of Fernandina Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Michael Richardson, Damon Richardson, Alyssa Inman and Austin Inman; a great-grandson, Caden Richardson; a great-granddaughter, Daylin Grace Richardson; his special mother-in-law, Edra Wilson; and many other special relatives and friends. The family suggests memorials be to a children's home of your choice or the National Parkinson's Foundation, 1501 N.W. Ninth Ave., Miami, FL 33136-1494. Brunson James M. Brunson, 87, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. No services are scheduled at this time. The body was donated to Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St. Mr. Brunson was preceded in death by his parents, and seven brothers and sisters. Survivors include six nieces and nephews, and 10 great-nieces and great- nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsie Erickson Elsie Erickson, 84, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with the Rev. Robert Field officiating. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in St. Paul, Minn. Mrs. Erickson was born Sept. 20, 1921, in Latimer County, Okla. She had been self-employed, starting out as a dressmaker and ending up owning a wholesale decorator shop for Sears and several other retail stores in California. She had lived in Amarillo since 1995. She had raised and showed prized English bulldogs for many years. She was an active member of Loners on Wheels. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne H. Erickson on May 23, 1970. Survivors include a son, Robert Earl Patterson; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- June Wheeler June Wheeler, 72, of Amarillo died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with Bob Thomas, chaplain of Odyssey Health Care officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mrs. Wheeler was born in Bonham on June 4, 1933. She lived most of her life in Amarillo. She worked as a childcare provider for Nana's Day Care for nine years. Mrs. Wheeler watched Lakewood Church on television and was very fond of Pastor Joel Osteen. The family would like to thank Dr. H.G. Norrid, Dr. Benton and his staff, Dr. Wright and the Texas Tech doctors, BSA Hospital staff, Dr. McKinley, Odyssey Hospice, Texas Senior Care and two special friends, Dona White and Marcia Castillo. She loved her family and friends and will be missed by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Wheeler; a son, Lloyd Wheeler Jr.; her father, Bill Horn; her mother, Gertrude Allard; and a brother, Kenneth Horn. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Assembly of God Church in Shamrock with the Rev. Joe Kirkwood, pastor of Cornerstone Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Shamrock Cemetery in Shamrock by Wright Funeral Directors of Shamrock. Mr. Woods was born May 21, 1955, in Amarillo to Robert Wesley Woods and Juanita Gennell Ferril Woods. He had lived in Stratford for 10 years and worked mowing lawns, cleaning chimneys and doing maintenance work. He was also a postal clerk. Dusky was a wonderful Christian man and an amazing dad. Dusky was a veteran, having served in the Army. Survivors include his mother, Gennell York of Shamrock; his father, Robert Wesley Woods of Amarillo; three daughters, Mandy Childers, Amy Woods and Twila Woods, all of Amarillo; a sister, Penny Huff of Amarillo; and three grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bessie Roberts Bessie Roberts, 97, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct. 6, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road, with Dr. Dana Moore of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Old Mobeetie Cemetery in Mobeetie. Mrs. Roberts retired from Rockwell Industries in California and moved to Clovis, N.M., in 1969 with her husband, Jadie. She married Jadie Roberts in 1927 in Mobeetie. Mrs. Roberts moved to Amarillo in 1999 from Clovis to be close to her nieces and caregivers, Janiece Jack, Peggy Wilson and Betty Jo Gable. She was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Roberts loved her dog, Dolly, attending church and her Sunday school class and visiting with family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband in September 1993, and an infant daughter, Jadine in 1929. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, and many great-nieces and great- nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jeffrey Michael Packer Jeffrey Michael Packer, 24, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 4, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Beacon Baptist Church with Danny R. Chisum, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Warford- Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. Mr. Packer was born Dec. 19, 1980, in Amarillo. He attended Sam Houston Middle School, San Jacinto Christian Academy and Tascosa High School. He was a member of Beacon Baptist Church. He was employed by Lawn Masters. Survivors include his mother, Elsie Mae Cravens of Amarillo; a brother, Gleno Packer of Amarillo; and two sisters, Rosezetta Packer and Rochelle Packer, both of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Edna Begert Trask PAMPA - Edna Begert Trask, 92, died Friday, Oct. 7, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Hiram Begert, nephew of Mrs. Begert, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Begert went to her heavenly home on Oct. 7, in Pampa. Mrs. Begert was born July 18, 1913, on the family farm near Plainview, Okla., to Iola and Andrew Jackson Falkner. She was the youngest of 10 children, all of whom preceded her in death. She graduated from Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Okla., where she met and married Sam Begert. They lived and taught school in Allison before moving to Pampa in 1946. After 40 years together, Mr. Begert preceded her in death in 1977. She married Lon Trask in 1981, and he preceded her in death in 1991. Her only child, El Dean Begert also preceded her in death in 2001. She taught fifth grade at Sam Houston Elementary for 29 years, three years at Woodrow Wilson and then substituted for three more years. She was past memorial chairperson for the American Heart Association, volunteered for the American Cancer Society and the Red Cross and had played the piano for her Sunday school class at First Baptist Church, where she was a member. She was a member of the Son Shine Club and the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include a granddaughter, D'Ann Gonzales and husband, Johnny, of Pampa; three great-grandchildren, Anthony Gonzales and wife, Maricel, and Cristan Whittington and husband, Jason, all of Amarillo, and Andrew Gonzales of Pampa; two great-great-grandchildren, Cheyenne Whittington and Collin Gonzales, both of Pampa; and a daughter-in-law, Sherry Begert of Pampa. Mrs. Finney was born March 6, 1936, in Clovis, N.M., to Arline Liege Gordon and Flossie May Whitner Gordon. She married Clint Gene Finney in 1969. Mr. Wilson was born March 22, 1928, in Amarillo. He served his country during World War II in the Army, attaining the rank of sergeant at the time of his discharge after the war. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Coline Wilson; two daughters, Karen Jilinski of Tallapoosa, Ga., and Sharon Lockhart of Reeds Spring, Mo.; three sons, Charles L. Fillingim PROVIDENCE, UTAH - Adolphus Talmadge "A.T." Fillingim, 88, died Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. today in First Presbyterian Church of Logan. Arrangements are by Allen-Hall Mortuary in Logan. Mr. Fillingim was born July 5, 1917, in Turkey, Texas, to I.G. and Laura Coker Fillingim. He married Shirley Manuel on Jan. 17, 1943, in New Hampshire. After his honorable discharge from the Coast Guard, he returned to Texas A&M University to complete his degree. His passion for the preservation of natural resources through teaching agriculture classes and soil conservation service led him through Texas, South Dakota and Utah. He had a great love of the outdoors, which he pursued through hiking, archeology, photography and travel. When at home, he enjoyed music, square dancing and volunteering in the community. He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Logan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend. He will be dearly missed by all. He was preceded in death by five brothers and a sister. Survivors include his wife; five children, Sandra Fillingim, Dawn Jones and husband, Jim, Talmadge Fillingim and wife, Frances, Lynn Fillingim Martin and husband, Rick, and Vaughn Fillingim and wife, Ana; a brother; two sisters; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family. Graveside services were held Thursday in Sunland Memorial Park Cemetery in Sun City. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd., Amarillo. Mrs. Swearengen passed away peacefully Oct. 1, with her daughter, Cheryl at her side. She was born Sept. 29, 1915, on the family farm near Monroe City, Mo. Dorothy married her high school sweetheart, Earl Swearengen, on Christmas Day in 1937. They resided in Amarillo from the late 1940s till 1981, when they moved to Sun City. Dorothy was a committed wife and homemaker and an attentive mother to their only child, Cheryl Beth. While living in Amarillo, she was employed as a stenographer for the United States Postal Service for more than two decades, and she and her husband also owned a boutique ladies' apparel shop for many years. Following her retirement, Dorothy continued volunteering for several hospital auxiliaries as well as for her church. She volunteered beyond her 87th birthday, stopping only due to failing health. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Earl. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl Beth Swearengen Hughes and T. Robert Hughes of Fort Collins, Colo.; a sister; and six nephews.
