Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with Carlos Jaramillo, pastor of Christian Heritage Church, officiating. Mr. Avant was born Sept. 7, 1966, to Carl Avant and Helen Annis Kingston in Fort Worth. He was an avid NASCAR fan and motorcycle rider. He is loved and very missed. Survivors include his mother; his father and Marlene Nelson; two daughters, Jessica Akins Avant and Taylor Bryant-Avant; a brother, Carl Avant and wife, Peggy; two sisters, Debbie Steinman and husband, Brad, and Sharon Qualls and husband, Rodney; a niece; many nephews; two great-nephews; and many aunts and uncles. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Marty Hamrick, associate pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Llano East Cemetery. Sara Irwin was born Dec. 11, 1937, in Tahoka. She married Wilton Royce "Red" Irwin on April 2, 1961, in Lubbock. Sara was a homemaker, a member of the Porcelain Arts Club in Amarillo and Polk Street United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by a son, David Royce Irwin. Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Debra Fouse of Lubbock, Teresa O'Connor of Fort Worth and Natalie Chapman of Corpus Christi; and six grandsons, Daniel Irwin, Justin Fouse, Matthew Fouse, Jonathon O'Connor, Christopher O'Connor and Tom Irwin. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens Cemetery with David F. Driskill, pastor of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mrs. Gummelt, born June 4, 1920, was a lifelong resident of Amarillo who graduated from Amarillo High School in 1939. She married Ward T. Gummelt in 1959. She was a member of Grand Avenue Baptist Church, the American Legion and the VFW Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband on Jan. 15, 1986. Survivors include two sons, Tommy Gummelt of Amarillo and Bobby Gummelt of Arroya, Calif.; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great- grandchild. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Kenneth Joe "Kenny" Cloud PAMPA - Kenneth Joe "Kenny" Cloud, 51, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Trinity Fellowship Church with the Rev. Lonny Robbins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Cloud was born July 8, 1954, in Higgins. He was a resident of Pampa since 1957. He married Renell Morgan on July 23, 1982, in Clarendon. He was district manager for CDI Energy Services where he worked for 17 years. He was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church. He was preceded in death by his father, Homer Cloud Jr., in 1969. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Angie Shaw and husband, Charles, and Katie Cloud, all of Pampa; a son, Jason Naramore and wife, Heather, of El Reno, Okla.; his mother, Marie E. Ebel DUMAS - Dale E. Ebel, 69, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with the Rev. John Wagoner, chaplain of Craig Methodist Retirement Center in Amarillo, officiating and the Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, assisting. Mr. Ebel was born Aug. 4, 1936, in Monte Vista, Colo., and spent his young years there, graduating from Monte Vista High School in June of 1954. Two months after graduating, he married Mary Burson. He retired in 1998, and he and his wife spent his retirement years in Dumas enjoying their family. He was a Dumas resident for 12 years. He served in the National Guard. He was a meat cutter and butcher. He was preceded in death by a sister, Genevieve. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Jeri Montgomery and husband, Jess, of Dumas; three sons, Perry Ebel and wife, Kathy, of Woonsocket, R.I., Ron Ebel and wife, Janis, of Pampa and Glen Ebel of Dumas; a brother, Clayton Ebel of Nevada; 10 grandchildren, Glen Jr., Michele, Jake, Kenner, Miah, Zack, Jessica, Kelleen, Kayla and Craig; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Grace United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mrs. Garrett was a Plainview resident for the last 60 years. She was the last survivor of the 11 children of Alexander Shakespeare Morris and Lillie Grimes Morris, who were among the early settlers of Flomot in Motley County. She was born July 15, 1906, near Bowie in Montague County. In October of that year, her family homesteaded land in the territory of New Mexico, near Portales, living in a dugout on the land during the five-year residency requirement. The claim was "proved up" six months before New Mexico gained statehood in 1912. The family then returned to Motley County. On Dec. 24, 1927, she married Frank William Garrett, who died in 1988. Together they had seven children. Survivors include three sons, Calvin Garrett of Hereford, Raby Garrett of Plainview and Joe Garrett of La Quinta, Calif.; four daughters, Shirley Dean of Lubbock, Norma Phinny of Amarillo, Dora McBee of Plainview and Sharon Prutzman of Possum Kingdom Lake; 15 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was a member of Central Baptist Church since 1987. Mr. Rivera was born Feb. 13, 1934, in Saragosa, Mexico. Survivors include his wife, Zita; a son, Hector Galvan of Olton; three daughters, Neyda Pena of Houston, Cristina Rivera of Hart and Paola Rivera of Amarillo; three brothers, Ramon Rivera of Fort Hancock, Mario Rivera of Praxedis, Chihuahua, Mexico, and Sabino Rivera of Oklahoma; a sister, Magdalena Rivera of Chihuahua, Chihuahua, Mexico; and six grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Alma Louise Clark DALLAS - Alma Louise Clark, 84, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 8, 2005. Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Thursday in Restland Funeral Home Wildwood Chapel. Burial will be in Restland Memorial Park. Louise was born April 12, 1921, in Gladewater to Dean and Grover Dunaway. While attending TCU in Fort Worth, Louise married her college sweetheart Earle H. Clark in 1940. She then taught Spanish in Midland before devoting her life as a wife and mother in Dallas in 1942. Louise was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Later in life, she moved to Amarillo, where she very much enjoyed playing bridge and reading. She had many friends in Dallas and in Amarillo with whom she loved to laugh and visit. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earle H. Clark; a daughter, Carrolyn Dent; and a brother, Wilks Dunaway. Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Steele and husband, Billy, of Amarillo; a sister, Barbara Knight of Andrews; a son-in-law, Roy Dent and wife, Linda, of Abilene; grandchildren, Ronnie Boyd and wife, Trisha, of Dallas, Deena Boyd of Amarillo, David Dent and wife, Jill, of Oklahoma City and Debra Harris and husband, Kyle of Norman, Okla.; five great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Virginia Clark of Breckenridge; and seven nieces and nephews. Wilma was born June 21, 1928, in Charleston, the daughter of Harry Huxford and Florrie Jones Huxford. She was a lifelong resident of Charleston. She was a sales clerk and a member of West Shore Church. Survivors include a daughter, Peggy D. Pattison of Perryton; a son, Edward L. Diveley of Columbia, S.C.; a brother, Harry R. He marriedhis wife of 49 years, Betty Awbrey on May 27, 1956. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa, Texas. Mrs. Standlee, a former longtime Fritch, Texas, resident, was born March 22, 1931, in Stonington, Colo. She married Ray "Jiggs" Standlee in August 1980 in Borger. Survivors include five sons, Larry Green of Stigler, Okla., Jesse Graves of Waldron, Frank Graves of Llano, Texas, Marshall Graves and Eutaw Graves, both of Amarillo, Texas; six daughters, Susie Heidelberg of Fritch, Gloria Harris of Amarillo, Marilyn Likowski of Weleetka, Okla., Lucille Reed, Eileene Martin and Peggy Ballard, all of Waldron; a sister, Eva Ellison of Delta, Colo.; and 39 grandchildren. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
