Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Elder A. L. Gipson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Adams was born June 20, 1926, in Mineola, the daughter of the late Sylvester London and Mattie Stanfield. LaVesta attended school in Mineola, Wood County. Later LaVesta moved to Spokane, Wash., where she met and married Hollis E. Adams. To this union three children were born. LaVesta then moved to Amarillo in the mid-70s. She worked at Belmar Elementary and worked in dietary at the Pavilion. She was a faithful member of Jerusalem Church of God in Christ under the pastorship of Elder A. L. Gipson until her health began to fail. She was preceded in death by her father, Sylvester London; her mother, Mattie Stanfield; and a sister, Eddie Mae Russell. Survivors include two sisters, Ruby L. London of Arlington and Connie Keith of Glendora, Calif; a brother, Allen Wilson London of Dallas; two sons, Abel Adams of Lubbock and David Adams of Fairfield, Calif.; a daughter, Monnaleisa Scott of San Diego; six grandchildren, Carla Bush Ramzy, David E. Scott, Alexanderia Phillips, Ayana Adams, Anisha Naomi Adams and Josh Williams; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. There will be a wake service from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area James D. "Jim" Franklin PLAINVIEW - James D. "Jim" Franklin, 78, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday in Bartley Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Dr. Max Browning of Plainview officiating and the Rev. Milton Cates of 21st Street Baptist Church of Slaton assisting. Mr. Franklin, the son of Kelly Franklin and Grace Witt, was born Jan. 30, 1927, in Ravenna, Ky. He was pastor of Boswell Heights Baptist Church in Plainview, pastor at 21st Street Baptist Church in Slaton and served as deputy sheriff for 17 years in Plainview. Survivors include his wife, Rosemary; two sons, Kelly Franklin of Odessa and Don Franklin of Addison; a daughter, Linda Franklin of Littlefield; a brother, Donald Wayne Franklin of Amelia, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kathryn King MATADOR - Kathryn King, 94, died Thursday, Oct. 13 , 2005, in Lubbock. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday in East Mound Cemetery in Matador with Rickey Lawrence officiating. Arrangements are by Seigler Funeral Home of Matador. Kathryn was a homemaker and lived in Plainview from 1951 until 1970 when she returned to Motley County. She was a Baptist. She was preceded in death by her husband, L.O. "Pat" King, on June 12, 1971. Survivors include a son, L.O. "Butch" King Jr. of Springfield, Ill.; a brother, Wilson Barton of Flomot; a granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; and two special friends, Sammie Phillips of Matador and Janna Turner of Turkey. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Minnie L. Butler Tate SHAMROCK - Minnie L. Butler Tate, 90, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Samnorwood Baptist Church in Samnorwood with the Rev. Dean Driver, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dozier Cemetery in Dozier by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Tate was born May 15, 1915, in Pine. She married Tommie R. Tate on Oct. 24, 1932, in Sayre, Okla. Survivors include a son, Richard Tate of Dilley; a daughter, Eula Mae Brewer of Fontana, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two great- great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Dozier Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mack Suitor PERRYTON - Mack Suitor, 72, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Christian Church with the Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton officiating. Burial will be in Ochiltree Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Suitor loved to sand paint; his works are on display in several museums across the country. He loved to take his sons fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Ann Cudd Suitor; his father-in-law, Rex Clark; and a son, Blake Edward Suitor in 1977. Survivors include his wife, Berta Suitor; two sons, Lonnie Rex Suitor of Wichita, Kan., and Lance Suitor and wife, Terri, of Perryton; his mother-in- law, Marguerite Clark of Perryton; a grandson, Dustin Suitor of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Cassi Laxton and husband, Brad, of Perryton; two great- grandsons, Zak Laxton and Gavin Laxton, both of Perryton; and a sister, Jeanne Allen and husband, Norman, of Perryton. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Curtis Arthur Blankenship GUYMON, OKLA. - Curtis Arthur Blankenship, 88, died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Derek Cox, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery by Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Mr. Blankenship was born May 31, 1917, in Silver Hollow, Ark. He worked for Michigan Wisconsin Pipeline Co. for 30 years and loved raising and breeding Appaloosa horses and feeding cattle. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Maxine; three children, Judy Hatton of Hutchinson, Kan., LaNetta Shapley of Gruver, Texas, and Mac Blankenship of Oklahoma City; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Faye Iola Cline EVA, OKLA. - Faye Iola Cline, 91, died Friday, Oct. 14, 2005, in Boise City. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Henson-Novak Funeral Home Chapel in Guymon with great-grandsons Nathan Twyman and Heath Twyman officiating. Burial will be in Baker Cemetery. Mrs. Cline was born Feb. 7, 1914, to Ruth Gertrude Shore and Charley Thomas Sade in the Rice community of Texas County, and was a lifelong Texas County and Eva community resident. She attended the North Fork School and married Carl Hart Cline on Dec. 25, 1932. Survivors include two sons, Carl Wayne Cline of Millington, Tenn., and Dayton Gene Cline of Eva; a sister, Nola Sheldon of Dumas, Texas; a brother, Albert Sade of Denver; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and five great- great-grandchildren. Hensley, 70, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Morgan Township Cemetery in rural Schleswig with the Rev. Kevin J. Freese officiating. Arrangements are by Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Mr. Hensley was born Oct. 13, 1934, in Texas. He married Nancy Noll Meyer on Feb. 25, 2003, in Casper, Wyo. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bill Hensley of Odessa, Texas; a daughter, Debra Gassen of Loveland, Colo.; four stepchildren, Mark Meyer of Lake City, Todd Meyer and Brenda Meyer, both of Casper, and Durene Eisenbacher of Carroll; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Adams of Amarillo, Texas; and a brother, Don Hensley of Odessa. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------
