Services will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Morris was born April 23, 1926, to William and Florence Robbins Morris. He was preceded in death by a son, Jesse Don Morris Jr., and a grandson, Chuckie Holt. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Lucille; three daughters, Martha Burton and husband, Tom, Kay Morris and Becky Morris; two sons, Lonnie Morris and wife, Brenda, and Dennis Morris and wife, Debbie; a daughter-in-law, Glenda Morris-Holt and husband, David; 15 grandchildren; and 26 great- grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to Texoma Keil West Cancer Center in Wichita Falls or BSA Hospice of Amarillo, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105. Hendrick Yager, 85, of Amarillo died Thursday, Oct. 13, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Luke Presbyterian Church with Dr. J. Pat Kennedy of St. Luke Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Evergreen East Cemetery in El Paso by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Yager was born Jan. 23, 1920, to Paul and Annie Davis Hendrick. She attended grade school at Alta Vista and graduated from El Paso High in El Paso. She married William E. Yager Sr. on June 24, 1939, in El Paso. She worked for Mountain Bell (AT&T) in El Paso for 24 years before retiring. She was a Daughter of Texas and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1994; a daughter, Mary Ann Yager Cox in July 2005; four brothers, Harry, Bill, Tom and Pete Hendrick; and two sisters, Pauline Warren and Peggy Linloft. Survivors include a son, Willie E. Yager Jr. of Amarillo; two sisters, Anita Gurney of El Paso and Jean Hawley of San Antonio; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Argie B. Burns Argie B. Burns, 86, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., with the Rev. Robert Field, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Burns was born in Oklahoma. She moved to Borger in the late 1920s and then to Amarillo in the mid-1990s. She married Cliff Burns in 1959. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was a homemaker and loved music of all kinds. She was also preceded in death by a son, Scott Neill; two sisters; and three brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Donna Kay Kelley of Pearlington, Miss.; a son, Robert Burns of Arlington; a brother, Truel Stimpson of La Jolla, Calif.; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Campbell was born in Flores, Okla., and had been a resident of Amarillo more than 50 years. She was a Christian, a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her parents, Maggie Clark Whitaker Sheperd and Clarence Sheperd; her husbands, James Campbell in 1997 and Roy Davison in 1990; two daughters, Joy Harbour at birth and Patsy Ann Anglin in 1984; two brothers, Charles Preston and Leonard Whitaker; and four sisters, Daisy Egan Grover, Wanda Elaine DeArmond, Hazel Mattie Taylor and Lila Whitaker. Survivors include a son, Harold Harbour of Cotton Center; two daughters, Virginia Thornton of Cotton Center and Joyce Sibrel of Cincinnati; a sister, June Sutherland of Wichita, Kan.; 14 grandchildren, Rocky Harbour, Steve Harbour, Keith Harbour, David Harbour, Joretta Reeves, Roy Lee Toler, Venita Reed, Sandra Propes, Terry Anglin, Sherri Huckins, Diana Schehl, Debbie Smith, Tammy Calling and Cynthia Sibrel; and many great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Virgil E. Ballengee Virgil E. Ballengee, 90, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Ballengee was born May 7, 1915, in Vashti to Harvey and Myrtle Ballengee. A graduate of Amarillo High School in 1933, Virgil went to work for Panhandle Laundry and Dry Cleaners, eventually becoming the owner and manager. He retired from this business in 1980. He married Juanita Conger in 1938 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 1977. Virgil was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and was honored recently for having 60 years of continuous service. He had also been the recipient of several other Lions Club awards, including the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He served for many years on the Texas Eye Bank Board. Virgil was a member of Gideon's International. He taught Sunday school for more than 50 years. Virgil loved singing in his church choir, which he did for many years. He loved the Lord and his family and friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his father and mother; a brother, Luther of Fort Worth; and a son-in-law, Gerald Priest of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Winnie Gruhlkey, whom he married on Aug. 15, 1981; a brother, Bert Ballengee of Amarillo; a son, Jim Ballengee and wife, Debbie, of Grapevine; two daughters, Carol Priest and Gloria Reynolds and husband, Harley, all of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Debbie Smith and Diana Lewis and husband, Jimmy, all of Amarillo; two great-grandsons, Brandon and Nathan Lewis; his brothers-in-law, Marion Gruhlkey and wife, Ella Joe, of Oklaunion and Emory Gruhlkey and wife, Winnie, of Washington State; two nephews, Ben Ballengee and wife, Barbara, of Edmond, Okla., and Bob Ballengee and wife, Molly, of Fort Worth; four nieces, Ann Clare Carlson and husband, Scott, of Dallas, Kay Curd and husband, Mark, of Seattle, and Carmen Goodwin and Sue Gatlin and husband, Carrol, all of Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Fritch. Mr. Tims served in the Army during Vietnam. He was a painter. Garcia HEREFORD - Frankie M. Garcia, 43, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, in Friona. Vigil services will be at 7 p.m. today in Rix Funeral Directors Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in La Iglesia de San Jose Catholic Church with the Rev. David Contreras officiating. Burial will be in St. Anthony's Cemetery. Mr. Garcia was born Feb. 25, 1962, in Hereford to Torivio Garcia Jr. and Guadalupe Munoz Garcia. Survivors include his mother of Hereford; two brothers, Toby Garcia and Tommy Garcia, both of Hereford; and a sister, Thelma Tijerina of Hereford. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Troy Maness PAMPA - Troy Maness, 98, formerly of Pampa, died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with Dr. Charles Jones, pastor of Hollywood Road Community Church in Amarillo, officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Maness was born Dec. 27, 1906, in Memphis, Tenn., to Mitch and Minnie Maness. He came to the Texas Panhandle on Dec. 21, 1915, with his parents. The late Putt Powell, former sports editor at the Amarillo Globe-News, wrote several articles over his years at the newspaper mentioning Mr. Maness as having been an outstanding basketball player for the Pampa Harvesters and in one article, stated "Troy Maness beat the Amarillo Sandies by himself." "The Harvester," Pampa High School's annual, stated he was also a "fast and powerful" football player. He left school in 1928, after 11 years, to help on the family farm. He later became known as "one of the best farmers in the White Deer community." Mr. Maness married Mattie Lou Ward in Corinth, Miss., on Oct. 18, 1947. They lived on a farm outside White Deer until retiring in 1980, and they moved to Pampa in 1981, where they were members of Calvary Baptist Church. Mr. Maness especially enjoyed the fellowship, cards, dominoes and the food provided by the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. He and his wife moved to Amarillo in March 2001 to be near family in their later years. The family expresses their gratitude to Dewain and Carolyn Callen of Amarillo, who have lovingly cared for him in their home for the past four years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five sisters, Bessie Maness, Lettie Smith, Mary Stevens, Lessie Swain and Lois Steward; a brother, Archie Maness; and his precious granddaughter, Keitha Jo Davis. Survivors include a son, Joe Gary Davis and wife, Linda, of Amarillo; a daughter, Linda Autry and husband, Dave, of Amarillo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Jackson was born Nov. 27, 1921, in Meadow. She married E.D. Jackson in Durant, Okla., on July 21, 1941. Survivors include a son, John Jackson of Amarillo; two daughters, Nancy Wright of Ropesville and Treva Jackson of Morton; a brother, George Duke of Lubbock; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Resthaven Funeral Home. Mrs. Lusk was born Nov. 9, 1914, to Jim and Zula Russell Arnold in Turkey. She married Leonard Lusk on Dec. 15, 1935. Survivors include two daughters, Jo Beth Smith of Lubbock and Sue Lynn Guest of Arlington; a brother, Alton Arnold of Quanah; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
