Ballengee Virgil E. Ballengee, 90, of Amarillo died Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Ballengee was born May 7, 1915, in Vashti to Harvey and Myrtle Ballengee. A graduate of Amarillo High School in 1933, Virgil went to work for Panhandle Laundry and Dry Cleaners, eventually becoming the owner and manager. He retired from this business in 1980. He married Juanita Conger in 1938 in Amarillo. She preceded him in death in 1977. Virgil was a member of the Downtown Lions Club and was honored recently for having 60 years of continuous service. He has also been the recipient of several other Lions Club awards, including the Melvin Jones Fellowship. He served for many years on the Texas Eye Bank Board. Virgil was a member of Gideons International. He taught Sunday school for more than 50 years at Amarillo Bible Church, San Jacinto Baptist Church and Paramount Baptist Church. Virgil was a member of Paramount Baptist Church, and he sang in the church choir for many years. He loved the Lord and his family and friends. He was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was also preceded in death by his father and mother; a brother, Luther, of Fort Worth; and a son-in-law, Gerald Priest of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Winnie, whom he married Aug. 15, 1981; a brother, Bert Ballengee of Amarillo; a son, Jim Ballengee and wife, Debbie, of Grapevine; two daughters, Carol Priest and Gloria Reynolds and husband, Harley, of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Debbie Smith and Diana Lewis and husband, Jimmy, of Amarillo; two great-grandsons Brandon and Nathan Lewis; brothers-in-law, Marion Gruhlkey and wife, Ella Joe, of Oklaunion and Emory Gruhlkey and wife, Winnie, of Washington state; nephews, Ben Ballengee and wife, Barbara, of Edmond, Okla., and Bob and Molly Ballengee of Fort Worth; nieces, Ann Clare and husband, Scott Carlson, of Dallas, Kay Curd and husband, Mark, of Seattle, Carmen Goodwin and Sue Gatlin and husband, Carrol, of Amarillo. Mrs. Khandheria was born May 10, 1926, in Rajkot, India, to Taragauri and Motichand Doshi. She married Pravinchandra Khandheria in 1945. She was a very meticulous, vibrant, and religious woman. She led an active life and always put others' needs above her own. She loved her family deeply and will be greatly missed by many. She was a homemaker who loved to quilt, sew and spend time with her family. She was a Boy Scout Troop Leader as well as a Girl Scout Leader. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002 and her mother in 2004. Survivors include her father, Domingo M. Mrs. Reed was born June 19, 1938, in Woodruff, Ariz., and attended high school in Holbrook, Ariz. She married Tom Reed on June 12, 1961, in Reno, Nev. He passed away in 1979. She has been a resident of Amarillo since 1962. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved to bowl, garden, quilt and was a die-hard Amarillo Sandies fan. More than anything else, Betty loved being mom and grandma. She was preceded in death by her son, Donald Reed in 1988. He spent the last 25 years ranching in New Mexico, south of Clayton. He married Madeline Hardin Jeffress on Jan. 24, 1998. He was preceded in death by his first wife on Oct. 13, 1995; and a daughter, Cheryl Blasingame, on May 11, 1998. Mr. Butler was born June 17, 1918, in Ochiltree County, where he was a lifetime resident. He graduated from Perryton High School and attended New Mexico State University. He served in the Navy during Wolrd War II. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Perryton. Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Butler; a daughter, Jeri Buttner of Hartford, Conn.; a son, Tom Butler of Farnsworth; two grandchildren, Brad Butler of San Angelo and Ben Butler of Perryton; and four great-grandchildren, William Butler, Rhys Butler, Bo Butler and Brenna Butler. He was preceded in death by his father, Pierre Richard, and stepfather, Burke Bosarge. Lucy Gregory Wilmeth, teacher, counselor, advisor, grandmother, mother, wife and friend, lost her battle with cancer Friday, Oct. 14, 2005. Born Nov. 14, 1931, in Kerrville, she retired from the University of Houston School of Communication in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merrill J. Wilmeth (1930-1992). Survivors include a son, Britt William Wilmeth, his wife, Darlene W. Wilmeth, and granddaughter, Amy Wilmeth, of Houston; a son, Greg Jackson Wilmeth, his wife, Debi L. Wilmeth, granddaughter, Cari Gilbert, and grandson, John Scott Wilmeth, all of Huntsville; a brother, Joe M. Gregory Jr. and wife, Mary Alice G.
