Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in First Christian Church with Merrill Gilbert, Law Enforcement Chaplain, and Maj. Gen. Michael H. Taylor officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be at 3 p.m. in DeBolt Cemetery in Arnett, Okla. Tommy Folks was born Jan. 22, 1974, in Amarillo to Tom and Patsy Folks. He departed this life on Oct. 18, 2005, in Southern Iraq. He grew to manhood at the family home in Amarillo, graduating from Amarillo High School in 1992. He was an honor student and was a member of the National Honor Society. He was most active in Boy Scouts when he served as Senior Patrol Leader. He became an Eagle Scout in 1990. Upon graduating from high school he attended the University of North Texas for two years before joining the Army in 1994. His military service included service on the Iraq-Kuwait border, service in Germany with the 7th Army Training Command where he was "Soldier of the Year" in 1998. He served in Korea before being sent to Afghanistan in November 2001 where he served as an Infantry Platoon Sergeant in the 10th Mountain Division in intensive combat along the AfghanistanñPakistan border. Upon his return from overseas he became a member of "A" Company 2nd Battalion 142nd Infantry in Amarillo, while attending West Texas A&M University. Upon activation of the unit in August 2004, he was a senior at WT, preparing to become a teacher. He was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal with six Oak Leaf Clusters, the Army Good Conduct Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, the National Defense Service Medal, the Armed Forces Expedition Medal and the Southwest Asia Combat Medal. Survivors include his father, Tommy Folks Sr., and his stepmother, Carolyn, of Amarillo; three sisters, Burma Bacher of Fort Worth, Mary Ellen of San Angelo and Carol Lee of Arlington; six nephews and nieces; and a list of friends including a special friend, Christene Trevinio of Amarillo. Bell St. Mr. Mayo was born Oct. 5, 1960, in Amarillo and attended Palo Duro High School. He worked at Amarillo Packing Co., San Jacinto Food and Tasco. Survivors include 13 children; eight grandchildren; his parents, Joe and Delores Mayo; a brother, Jeffrey Mayo; and a sister, Jean Sims. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ira Earl "Bill" McMillen Ira Earl "Bill" McMillen, 86, of Amarillo died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Rector Funeral Home Osage Chapel, 2800 S. Osage St., with the Rev. Jerry Thomas of North Beacon Church of the Nazarene officiating. Mr. McMillen was born Feb. 14, 1919, in Grovespring, Mo., to John and Sarah McMillen. He moved to Oologah, Okla., in 1930, where he grew up. He moved to Amarillo in 1938, where he married Emma Richardson. He served in the Navy as an aircraft mechanic. He retired from Borden after 40 years of service in 1982. Survivors include three sons, Earl Lee McMillen and wife, Faye, Carl Allen McMillen and wife, Brenda, and Billy Raymond McMillen, all of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Yvonne Richardson of Groesbeck; two sisters, Jean Woods of Pawnee, Okla., and Ruby Willhite of Oologah; seven grandchildren; 12 great- grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Llano Mausoleum. DeVerle was born the youngest of 12 children to Bart and Nora Holland on Feb. 14, 1923, in Perryton. She married Earnest Earl Black on April 4, 1942, and together they raised four children in Amarillo, while operating E. E. Black Plumbing. After Earnestís death in 1978, she married Nelson Shappell, continuing to live in Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her parents, 11 brothers and sisters, and two husbands. Survivors include three sons, Danny and wife, Cindy, Rolly and wife, Barbara, and Kim and wife, Debbie, all of Amarillo; a daughter, Rebecca Miller of Germany; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Mr. Walton moved to Hereford two years ago and was employed by Cargill Fresh Meat Solutions as an electronics technician. He married Page Arnold on May 22, 2004, in Hereford. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Spearman. Mr. Latham was born Oct. 11, 1930, in Wheeler County. He married Martha Seedig on April 7, 1950, in Clovis, N.M. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Spearman and the Friendship Sunday school class. He was past chairman of the pastor parish relations committee, trustees committee and served on the finance, missions, worship, education and other committees over the years. He graduated from Spearman High School in 1947 and attended Draughon Business College in Lubbock. He was the business manager for Spearman ISD. He was tax assessor collector from 1955-1986. He was a member of the Amalgamated Windmill Workers of America and a board member and secretary of the Southwest Pioneer Windmill Association. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert and Mary Loleta Lee Latham. Survivors include two sons, Scott Latham and wife, Diana, of Lubbock and Terry Latham and wife, Deanne, of Kingfisher, Okla.; four granddaughters, Natalee Latham of Fort Worth, Emileigh Latham and Carleigh Latham, both of Lubbock, and Megan Latham of Kingfisher; and four grandsons, Drew Latham, Noah Latham and Jonah Latham, all of Lubbock, and Matthew Latham of Norman, Okla. Faye Hendrickson was born May 9, 1926, in Childress to Oran and Ola Mae Mitchell Crowell. They moved to Bovina, and she graduated from Bovina High School in 1944. She then went to West Texas State Teachers College. She met Robert Bruce Hendrickson, and they dated for two years before marrying on July 6, 1947, in Canyon. They moved to Lubbock where she worked as librarian at Texas Tech University. They moved back to Canyon and she began working at WTSU as librarian in 1959. She retired in 1991. She was a member of Friends of the Library and First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband and one son, Robert Bruce Hendrickson, III. Survivors include a son, Larry Hendrickson of Canyon; two sisters, Virgie Statt of Tucumcari, N.M., and Ina Cook of Beaumont; three grandchildren, Amber Hendrickson and Jamie Hendrickson, both of Amarillo, and Shaun Hendrickson of Canyon; and two great-grandchildren, Avery Brooke Foster of Amarillo and Aiden Robert Hendrickson of Canyon. Mrs. Beasley was born Nov. 22, 1935, in Cimmaron to W. O. and Jimmie Price. She will be greatly missed by her children, grandchildren and all the many people whose lives she touched. A longtime resident of Union County, Marguerite wrote the Amistad News Article in the Union County Leader for several years. Mrs. Davis lived as a resident of Amarillo, Texas, 44 years before moving to Shattuck in 1996. She was employed as a receiving clerk for Sav-A-Stop distribution for 16 years. Mr. Sanders was born May 10, 1954, to Buell and Marie Sanders, in Friona, where he grew up and graduated from Friona High School. He worked in Levelland, Abilene, Big Spring, Friona and Hereford and worked for Dell Computers in Austin for 2 years.
