Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, in Llano Cemetery with the Rev. Robert E. Field officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Cogburn was born in Childress to George and Effie Fain. She married Haskell Doyle Cogburn in 1945 in Memphis. She was a homemaker who surrounded herself with her family and close friends. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Mrs. Cogburn was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years in 1998, three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include a daughter, Teresa Ann Cogburn of Amarillo; a brother, Joe Bob Fain of Amarillo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Georgia St. Trent was born March 1, 1969, in Amarillo to Dr. Maurice Dyer and Mrs. Marilyn Dyer-Whelan. He graduated from Tascosa High School and The University of Texas at San Antonio. He graduated from the Texas Tech School of Pharmacy in Amarillo and worked as a pharmacist in San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Craig and Mark Dyer. Survivors include two sisters, Melinda Dyer of San Antonio and Cherilyn Morrison and husband, Gene, of Canyon; two brothers, Keith Dyer and wife, Rhonda, of Canyon and Brooke Dyer of Austin; his stepfamily, Dick and Carol Whelan of Northridge, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements are by Angel Funeral Home, 2209 S. Arthur St. Mrs. McCain was born May 30, 1930, in Quitaque. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.C. McCain, in 1994. Survivors include three daughters, Karen Gail McCain and Linda Priest, both of Amarillo, and Ramona Tolbert of Canyon; a sister, Shirley Phillips of Stinnett; a brother, Afton Teague of Amarillo; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rubie, and a son, Roger. Survivors include three sons, Richard Hudson, Rex Hudson and Reggie Hudson; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Viewing will be from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday at the funeral home. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wilmer Earl Fox Wilmer Earl Fox, 71, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Parkview Christian Church with Glen A. Adams of the church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Fox was a 32-year veteran of the U.S. Army with service in Vietnam, Korea and Germany where he met his wife of 47 years. He was an ordained minister, private pilot, a HOST mentor of Amarillo ISD and a lifelong learner. Mr. Fox was a police officer for the Amarillo Police Department and a deputy for Potter County Sheriff's Department. He loved his church and the people of it. He was a member of Parkview Christian Church for more than 20 years. Mr. Fox was a devoted and beloved husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters, and a son, Jeffery Scott Fox in 1966. Survivors include his wife, Marianne Fox; three daughters, Nina Fox of Maui, Hawaii, Lynda Hinders of Canyon and Denise Jones of Huntington, Ark.; a son, Michael Fox of Amarillo; a sister, Nancy Bracken of Amarillo; and five grandchildren, Ashlee Tomlinson, Amanda Hinders, Matthew Hinders, Marshall Hinders and Taylor Fox. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Hedrick was born Sept. 22, 1924, in Nashville, Ark., to John W. and Lois Hedrick. He graduated from Clarendon High School and attended Amarillo College. He married Bobbie Marie Smith on January 25, 1947, in Amarillo. Mr. Hedrick was in the Navy. He drove for Greyhound for 21 years and was the director of Texas Automobile Dealers Association. He was an automobile and truck dealer for more than 50 years. He was former owner of Truck City USA. Mr. Hedrick was a director for Faith City Mission for many years. He was a member of Lifeway Fellowship Baptist Church, previously known as Olsen Park Baptist, where he served as a deacon. He was preceded in death by a son, Glenn Wayne Hedrick, and his parents. Survivors include his wife; a son, R.D. Hedrick of Laughlin, Nev.; a sister, Rita Hedrick Baker of Amarillo; a brother, W. Survivors include her husband, Louis Pekar; two sons, Louis J. Pekar of Round Rock and David Pekar of Thornton, Colo.; a daughter, Melissa Ann Nesbit of Franklin Springs, Ga.; a sister, Mary Ann Kracja of Dallas; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donald Sanders Donald Sanders, 70, of Amarillo died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Jimmy Blackmon of Church of Christ in Hereford officiating. Mr. Sanders served in the Navy during the Korean conflict. He married Mary Gannaway in Visalia, Calif., in 1954. He retired from the State of California Department of Corrections in 1989. He moved to Amarillo in 1997, where he continued his love for team roping. He was a participant in Senior Pro Rodeos for a number of years. He loved animals and enjoyed reading Western novels. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Deb Florendo of Fair Oaks, Calif.; a son, Don Sanders and wife, Bernie, of Amarillo; his mother, Clara Sanders of Carmichael, Calif.; a brother, Al Sanders and wife, Pat, of Eureka, Calif.; two grandchildren, Maddie and Mollie Sanders, both of Amarillo; two nieces, Julie and Connie; three nephews, Scott, Chuck and Teddy; several cousins; and a host of friends by whom he was loved and adored. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in New Hope Baptist Church with the Rev. David Hill, pastor, the Rev. Jesse Turner Sr. of Little Zion Baptist Church in Brownwood and the Rev. Johnny Turner of New Jerusalem Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Warford-Walker Mortuary, 509 N. Hughes St. L.D. Turner Sr. was born Sept. 9, 1922, in Chappell Hill to Gussie "Sam" and Effie Lewis Turner. He attended school in Sunny Stand. He married Gladys C. McMihelk on Feb. 6, 1943. They became the parents of 11 children. He worked as a sharecropper in Ralls for several years, and in 1947 he relocated his family to Amarillo. He became employed at ASARCO, where he worked 32 years. He served as union steward, grievance liaison and safety representative. He also worked part-time at Sears for 10 years. For 17 years he was affiliated with coaching and managing YMCA, Kids Inc. and American Legion baseball and football. His baseball team was the first from Amarillo to represent the North Texas Region in the National Tournament of the American Legion. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a longtime member of Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he served as deacon, trustee and brotherhood president. In 2004 he united with New Jerusalem Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Gladys; five sons, L.D. Turner Jr. and wife, Christine, of Hobbs, N.M., Samuel Turner and wife, Ann, of Tracy, Calif., Jesse Turner and wife, Deanna, of Brownwood, Lonnie Turner and Johnny L. Turner and wife, Gloria, all of Amarillo; five daughters, Neomia Bailey of Austin, Janice Horton and husband, Raymond, of Cedar Hill, Ethel T. Saxton, Ruby Johnson and husband, Jack, and Blanche Woods, all of Amarillo; 32 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Katherine of Hobbs. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Canyon Barbara Brooks Rogers CANYON - Barbara Brooks Rogers, 71, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Baptist Church in Moran. Local arrangements are by Holley Funeral Home of Canyon. Barbara was born March 5, 1934, in Cisco to Homer Wynne Brooks and Lois Fuller Brooks. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was reared in Moran. After graduating high school, she was employed by the U.S. Air Force, then the Veterans Administration in Big Spring and Temple. She retired after 27 years of service. Survivors include two sons, Skip Huskey and wife, Ronda, and grandchildren Crystal and Sydney of Canyon and Jay Loy Huskey of Albuquerque, N.M., his daughter, Kathy Jene Chamblee of Phoenix, grandson, Jordan and granddaughter, Jessica; a sister, Della Jo Brooks of Baird; and a brother, Homer Wynne Brooks Jr. of Breckenridge. Services will at 10 a.m. Friday in Bethel Assembly of God with his nephew, the Rev. Keeney Ray Dickenson, and the Rev. Lemuel Perry officiating. Burial will be in Texico Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home. Mr. Dickenson was born Feb. 9, 1931, in Smyer, Texas. He married Virginia New of Carlsbad on May 20, 1966. Survivors include his wife, Virginia Dickenson of Clovis; and a sister, Florence "Mo" Kirby of Mineola, Texas. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Steed-Todd Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Valentine Martinez officiating. Mr. Russell was born Sept. 20, 1959, in Clovis to James R. and Jessie L. Russell. He was a Baptist, worked as a skilled professional diesel mechanic and owned Russell's Truck Repair. Survivors include his wife, Sheila Russell of Clovis; three daughters, Tara Davis of Florida, Crystal Russell and Tonya Russell, both of Texas; two stepchildren, Chris Smith of Texas and Mysti Smith of Clovis; four brothers, R. Russell and Ron Russell, both of Clovis, Darrell Russell and Randy Russell, both of Texas; and a sister, Wynona Page of Tennessee. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Ruby Lucille Anderson WHEELER - Ruby Lucille Anderson, 90, died Saturday, Oct. 22, 2005, in Marina, Calif. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Wheeler Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Williams, pastor of First Baptist Church of Wheeler, officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Mrs. Anderson was born July 23, 1915, in Knox County to James and Ora Baird. She was a homemaker for 61 years, and lived in Marina for the past year. Survivors include her husband, Benjamin Louis Anderson; a son, David Anderson of Marina; two sisters, Gillrie Rogers of Dallas and Loraine Wagner of Plainview; and a granddaughter. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Martha Reese HEREFORD - Martha Reese, 89, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church of Guymon, Okla., with the Rev. Jimmy Reese, son, and Derek Cox, pastor of First Baptist Church of Guymon, officiating. Private family burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 S. Coulter St., and Henson-Novak Funeral Home of Guymon. Mrs. Reese was born Sept. 27, 1916, to Finley M. and Sally Proffer in Gainesville. She became a Christian and was baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church. She was a faithful member and very active all of her life. Martha and her family moved to Amarillo in 1938. She became a member of Pierce Street Baptist Church. In 1950 the family moved to Guymon. She taught in the children's Sunday school. She was devoted to the building of a new church complex at First Baptist Church. Martha served on the building committee. Her Christianity and service to the church was a significant part of her life. She was a member and officer of the Daughters of the American Revolution, where she served with pride and enjoyed a great fellowship. Martha was also a Cub Scout Den Mother. Martha managed Zeller's Jewelry Store until the age of 82. In 1999 she moved to Dallas with her daughter and to Hereford in 2000. She was an avid sports fan and always cheered for the Dallas Cowboys. She was once kissed by Bill Bates, which was a highlight of her life. She was also pictured with Roger Staubach. Martha had a great host of friends from all walks of life and was loved by all who knew her. She especially loved being around young people. Bless you all for being such great friends and loving our beloved Mom. Mr. Friend was born July 13, 1930, in Seneca, Mo., the son of Jesse and Addie Friend. He married Samantha Carr on April 1, 1995, in Prescott, Ariz. He was a veteran, serving in the Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was self- employed in retail sales and a Pro Bass Fisherman, fishing professionally in many bass tournaments and was a member of Trinity Fellowship Church in Hereford. Survivors include his wife, Samantha, of Hereford; a son, Terry Friend of Harlingen; three daughters, Gail Friend and Kimberly Wahl, both of Phoenix, and Stephanie Friend of Chandler, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and a great- grandchild. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Evelyn Correne Chandler ODESSA - Evelyn Correne Chandler, 87, died Monday, Oct. 24, 2005. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Chandler was a resident of Odessa for the past eight years, moving from Pampa. She was a homemaker and a member of the Mary Ellen & Harvester Church of Christ in Pampa. Survivors include three daughters, Pat Lauen of Tulsa, Okla., Pari Brown of Redding, Calif., and Johnnie Kitchens of Odessa.; two sisters, Elizabeth Flynt of Pasadena and Lucille McDonald of Perryton; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oklahoma Mable Aline Adams BEAVER, OKLA. - Mable Aline Adams, 94, died Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2005. Burial will be in Forgan Cemetery by Clark Funeral Service of Beaver. Mrs. Adams was born July 27, 1911, in Tipton to William Elzy and Alva B. Stubblefield Nash. She married Virgil C. Adams on Oct. 3, 1931, in Beaver.
