Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors, 5400 S. Bell St. Mrs. Denney was born April 18, 1922, to Edward and Celia Dowd in Montrose, Mich. She graduated from Montrose High School and Cleary College in Ypsilanti, Mich. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard "Bill" Denney in 1992; a granddaughter, Tiffany Denney in 1987; two brothers, Peter Dowd and Francis Dowd; and two sisters, Mary LeDuc and Ellen Payne. Survivors include two sons, James Denney and H.R. Denney; three daughters, Cecilia Coffey, Rose Lissy and Darlene Sumpter; a sister, Anna Herr; two brothers, Leonard Dowd and Dennis Dowd; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great- grandchildren. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105-9975. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sidney Raffkind Sidney Raffkind, 88, of Amarillo died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today in Llano Cemetery with Bernard Cohen officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Raffkind married Gladys Solomon in Kansas City, Mo., on April 30, 1945. He was a sergeant for the Army Air Corps as a radio gunner on a B-24 and served 50 missions over Europe. He was owner of Bargain Siddy from 1945 to 1985 with his wife Gladys. He was a member of Temple B'Nai Israel. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Marilyn Crenshaw and husband, Phil, of Houston and Barbara Chelf and husband, Richard, of Amarillo; a sister, Isabel Sanditen of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers, Daniel Raffkind of Amarillo and J.B. Raffkind of San Antonio; and four grandchildren, Todd, Brent, Kristi and Ginger. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Randy was born Nov. 11, 1952, in Amarillo to R.B. and Paula Darnell. He owned and operated R & R Repair. He served with the U.S. Marines during Vietnam. He was preceded in death by his mother in 2004; his father in 2003; and a brother, Robert Darnell in 1971. Survivors include a daughter, Melissa Creek of Amarillo; a son, Christopher Darnell of Amarillo; his companion, Rose Sandoval of Amarillo; three sisters, Sandra Ritchie of Claremore, Okla., Lynda Owen and Melissa Bailey, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Michael Darnell of Amarillo and Ronnie Smith of Odessa; and four grandchildren, Kayle, Colton, Katelyn and Caleb. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jimmy Louis Sladek Jimmy Louis Sladek, 49, of Amarillo died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Brian Hesse, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Jimmy Louis Sladek, devoted husband and father, peacefully departed this life Friday, Nov. 4, 2005. Jimmy was born Aug. 7, 1956, in Amarillo to Louis Sladek and Betty Hutcherson. He graduated from Caprock High School in 1975 and worked for Southwestern Public Service as a substation electrician foreman until his tragic accident on Dec. 4, 1998. Jimmy was respected and beloved by all who knew him. He was a lifelong Boy Scout serving as an adult leader and devoting countless hours of his time working with the Kwahadi Dancers. Jimmy was an amazing man who had the ability to build everything from computers to power plants. He raced motorcycles and cars, sailed catamarans and flew planes. Survivors include his wife, Julia; two sons, Justin and Joey; a daughter, Jessica; his father, Louis Sladek, and stepmother, Colleen; his mother, Betty Tenario; three sisters, Roxanne Cochran, Julie Helton and Sabrina Webb; and a brother, Tim Sladek. "Dick" Whitehead, 89, of Amarillo died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Valleyview Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Wayne Hicks of First Church of the Nazarene of Arlington officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Whitehead was born March 9, 1916, in Roby to Jim and Ada Whitehead. He married Lucille Mann on Aug. 1, 1938. They have celebrated 67 years of marriage. Mr. Whitehead served in the U.S. Army during World War II. For more than 43 years he was a car salesman. He began selling Studebakers, and then worked for Plains Chevrolet and Ray Jones Chevrolet. He was a member of Valleyview Church of the Nazarene. He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and four brothers. Survivors include his wife, Lucille Whitehead; a son, Richard Whitehead and wife, Connie, of Amarillo; two sisters, Lucy Whitehead of Abilene and Pearl Celey of Tucson, Ariz.; and a nephew, Gary Mann of Lake Tanglewood. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Nada S. Beck DUMAS - Nada S. Beck, 68, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005. Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Morrison Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel with Art Lynch, minister of First Street Church of Christ, officiating. Mrs. Beck was born Feb. 7, 1937, in Cordova, Ala. She lived in Dumas most of her life. She married C.M. Beck on April 7, 1973, in Dumas. She was a homemaker and a member of First Street Church of Christ. Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Crystal Knight and husband, Bill, and Renee Burkett, all of Dumas; two sons, Jimmy Bates and wife, Leslie, of Amarillo and Ken Beck and wife, Kim, of Lakeside, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The family will be at 208 Peach in Dumas. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in Woodlawn Cemetery in Claremore, Okla., with D. L. Kanipe, a family friend, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Nash was born Feb. 8, 1905, in Oklahoma Territory and was a resident of Pampa for more than 60 years. She was a former employee of the Gunn Brothers Stamp Store. Survivors include a great-nephew, Frank Rehbein of Broken Arrow, Okla. The family suggests memorials be to American Heart Association. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Lou Parker HAPPY - Lou Parker, 72, died Monday, Nov. 7, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in First Baptist Church of Happy with the Rev. Bob Miller, pastor of South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo, officiating, and the Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor of First Baptist Church of Happy, assisting. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Lou Parker was born April 12, 1933, to Beatrice Perkins Brown in Tahoka. She attended Horace Mann in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1950. She married her husband of 50 years, Johnny Parker, on March 12, 1955, in Amarillo and was a resident of Happy for 43 years. She took over the bookkeeping department at the Canyon Co-op for 19 years, retiring to chase after her grandchildren. She cared for many of her friends and family in Happy and Amarillo and was a member of First Baptist Church of Happy. Survivors include her husband, Johnny Parker of Happy; two sons, Tim Parker and wife, Stephanie, of Canyon and Billy Ray Parker and wife, JoNell, of Amarillo; two daughters, Angie Noel and husband, Brian, of Canyon and Mollie Mitchell and husband, Roger, of Amarillo; nine grandchildren, Callie and Evan Parker and Parker, Payton and Preston Noel, all of Canyon, and Max and Macy Mitchell and Lizzie and Zane Parker, all of Amarillo. Mrs. Vassaur was born Sept. 3, 1919, in Marion County. She ran Tam Ann Cafe and was a member of Frio Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters, Patsy Burnett and Nona Martin, both of Dimmitt; two sons, Bill Patterson of Avinger and Milton Patterson of Amarillo; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- New Mexico Hugh Harris CLOVIS, N.M. - Hugh Harris, 56, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Triangle Baptist Church with the Rev. Terry Martin officiating. Burial will be in Mission Garden of Memories by Muffley Funeral Home of Clovis. Mr. Harris was born June 19, 1949, to Ernest and Rebecca Mayfield Harris in Grace, Miss. He worked as a custodian for ENMRSH and was a member of St. John's Baptist Church and the American Legion. He is survived by five sisters, Doris McGinnis Martin, Lydia Hager and Earlene Harris, all of Clovis, Annette Wesley of Houston and Bobbie Harris of Greenville, Miss.; and three brothers, Dean Harris of LeRobbins, Ga., Ernest Harris of New Haven, Conn., and Archie Lee Harris of Greenville. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daphna Alana Sartain CLOVIS, N.M. - Daphna Alana Sartain, 91, died Friday, Nov. 4, 2005. Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday in Trinity United Methodist Church in Clovis with the Rev. Wayne Salguero officiating. Burial will be at the family farm by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Sartain was born July 5, 1914, in Wellington, Texas, to Joel M. and Eula Tate Gibbs. She married James H. "Jimmie" Sartain Jr. on June 30, 1934, at the home of her parents in the Field community. Survivors include two daughters, Agatha Sartain and Patsy Merritt; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Keenan, 89, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Henson-Novak Funeral Directors Chapel with Jesse Stephens, pastor of Guymon Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Elmhurst Cemetery. The daughter of Laura Brunette and Julius Weatherford, Mrs. Keenan was born April 27, 1916, on the Weatherford homestead east of Guymon, and was a lifelong resident of Guymon. She was united in marriage to James L. "Jimmy" Keenan on May 25, 1934, in Guymon. Survivors include three grandchildren, Gina Lou Keenan of Dalhart, Texas; Levi Keenan of Great Bend, Kan., and James Neal Keenan of Thermopolis, Wyo.; and a great-grandson, Kyler Keenan. Hillari was born Aug. 9, 1992, in Liberal to Trent Boaldin and Jimmie Jo Phillips Boaldin. She was an eighth-grader at Elkhart Middle School. Mr. Dunn was born March 16, 1926, in Kirkland to Addison and Mattie Dunn. He married Florence Turvaville on March 13, 1948, in Littlefield.
