Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Dreamland Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Blair was born March 23, 1915, in Montague County. She married Gaston C. Blair on July 24, 1933, in Waurika, Okla. They moved to Amarillo in 1950. Mrs. Blair worked for Kraft Foods from 1954 to 1971 as a bookkeeper. In 1973, she worked for Amarillo Livestock Auction until moving to Arlington in 1994. She moved to help take care of her granddaughter. She was a member of South Oak Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband in January 1975. Survivors include a son, George Blair and wife, Paula, of Arlington; a granddaughter, Connie of Arlington; and a niece, June Plein of Amarillo. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr Dyer was born Nov. 28, 1924, in Lone Wolf, Okla. He married Neva Rich on Jan. 16, 1943, in Memphis. He was a resident of Pampa since 1945. He was the former owner of Harvester Barbecue, and was the founder of Dyer's Barbecue. From 1949 until 1954, he was employed by the Pampa Police Department, and from 1954 until 1979, he was employed by the Pampa Fire Department, retiring as fire chief. He was a member of the Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF&AM and St. Paul United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing golf and was a longtime volunteer for the Special Olympics. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Joyce Ardell Donathan WILDORADO - Joyce Ardell Donathan, 85, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005. Services will be at 1 a.m. Saturday in Palo Duro Baptist Church, 7 miles south of Wildorado, with the Rev. Steve Leavitt, his grandson, officiating. There will be a military service at Palo Duro Memorial Cemetery with Ron Mueller officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. "Ardell" or "Dell," as many knew him, was born in Floydada to Frank and Elizabeth Donathan and was one of 14 children. He married Berniece Evans in 1941 and they shared 64 wonderful years together. He worked at the smelter in Amarillo until he was drafted into the service in 1943. He served in the Far East Air Force in Guam, The Philippines, Layte, and Luzon before returning from service in 1946. He then farmed in the Plainview area until settling east of El Paso. As one of the first "homesteaders" in the area, the town of Dell City was named after him. In 1954 he moved back to Amarillo and worked for the Post Office and farmed. In 1961 Ardell, Berniece, Delores and Kenny moved to Wildorado to farm. In 1972 he was appointed Postmaster at Vega where he retired in 1984. He continued to work for himself and others farming, mowing for the county, helping harvest, planting grass, ditching, working on his home and vacation home, and making furniture and crafts. He loved building things for his grandkids and great-grandkids, and they all loved their "Dell." He was always there when someone needed him. He was preceded in death by a son, Winfred Dell; and numerous brothers and sisters. Survivors include his wife, Berniece; two children, Delores Richards and husband, John, of Fredericksburg and Kenny Donathan and wife, Dianna, of Wildorado; six grandchildren, Shannon Leavitt and wife, Debbie, of Wildorado, Steve Leavitt and wife, Marty, of New Braunfels, Shalene Johnson and husband, William, of Ponder, Angeline George and husband, Douglas, and Dina Pendergrass and husband, Tyler, all of Amarillo, and Jenny Ansaldo and husband, Douglas, of Boerne; four sisters, Oleta Elkins of Amarillo, Virgie Leatherman of Milsap, Bernice Lewis of Collinsville, and Pernie Leatherman of Floydada; 22 great grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends. He married Tessie Killian on Nov. 25, 1948. Mrs. Robinson was born Feb. 24, 1915, in Hickory Flats, Ga., the daughter of O. E. and Nettie Sherman. She married Tom Robinson on July 21, 1934, in Amarillo. The family suggests memorials be to Hereford Regional Medical Center, 801 East 3rd, Hereford, TX 790445. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edith Marie Hagar Hataway Steddum SUNRAY - Edith Marie Hagar Hataway Steddum, 90, died Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Church of Christ of Sunray with the Rev. H.L. Stevens, retired Assembly of God minister, officiating, assisted by Carl Mutschler, longtime family friend. Burial will be in Lane Memorial Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Steddum was the youngest of eight children born to Dan and Sally Adeline "Addy" Hagar on Oct. 15, 1915, in Auglaize County, Ohio. Edith moved with her family in 1918, at the age of 3, to settle in the Texas Panhandle near Texhoma, where the land was plentiful, economical and bountiful. The Hagar family enjoyed their new lives until the Dust Bowl days of the '30s made farming a difficult occupation. In the year 1933, the lovely Edith Hagar married Homer Jay Hataway and settled near Stratford, where they continued the effort of growing crops but the wind blew constantly and the lack of rain caused the family to seek other employment. In Moore County, near Sunray, they were building gasoline refineries and carbon black plants, so they moved once again in the year 1936 to Sunray and settled down to raise seven children. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ in Sunray and continued to live a Christian life. She was known for her sweet personality, kind disposition and for helping those "older" friends and acquaintances unable to help themselves. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. She was preceded in death by four brothers; three sisters; her husband, Homer Hataway; and her second husband, Paul Steddum. Survivors include seven children, Harold Homer Hataway and Jim Hataway, both of Sunray, Donald Dale Hataway of Joplin, Mo., Darlene Keeton of Enid, Okla., Joe Hataway of Perry, Coleen Seright of Amarillo and Marlene Irwin of Newcastle, Okla.; 23 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and 12 great- great-grandchildren. "Wally" Wesbrooks, 84, died Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mr. Wesbrooks was a schoolteacher for 28 years, and was employed with Skelly Oil Co. for six years. He was a veteran of the Army, serving with the 922nd Engineering Aviation Regiment in the European Theater during World War II. Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Wesbrooks; two sons, Mike Wesbrooks of Pampa and Ron Wesbrooks of Beaumont; a daughter, Kathleen Wilson of Oakdale, Conn.; two brothers, Bill Wesbrooks of Deming, N.M., and Bob Wesbrooks of Grove, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Wood was born March 2, 1917, in Collingsworth County to Carrie Ethel Haralson Williams and William Marcus Williams. She married Woodrow Wilson "Woody" Wood of Wellington, her high school sweetheart, on Dec. 13, 1935, in Hollis, Okla. She attended Wellington schools and graduated from Wellington High School in 1934. They lived in the Fresno Community where Woody farmed and Ellen Mae worked at Ben Franklin's Variety Store. They had three children, Woodrow Farris Wood, Janice Wood Duncan and Joe Williams Wood. Mrs. Wood was a member of First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, served on various committees and taught Sunday school classes. She was a member of the Domestic Science Club, Wellington Garden Club, the JFF( Just For Fun) Forty-two Club and the Saturday Night Forty-two Club. She loved her church and was a devoted wife and mother, and a loving grandmother. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, canning and always had her garden full of flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Woody, in 2001; her daughter, Janice in 1993; a brother, John Herman Williams; and a sister, Oleta Williams Bennett.
