Harris BORGER - Jessie L. Harris, 95, died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery. Mr. Harris was a native of Cleburne and a Borger resident since 1953, coming from California. He was a retired butcher. He married Ruth on Oct. 15, 1931, in Hollis, Okla. He was preceded in death by his wife in January 1990; a son, Jerry in 1998; and a grandson, Jerry Harris Jr. in 2004 . Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mrs. Gardner was born Feb. 7, 1914, in Dallas. She married Ralph Gardner on Aug. 24, 1935, in Fort Worth. He preceded her in death on Oct. 29, 1999. She came to Pampa in 1950 from Santa Fe, N.M. In 1960, she moved to Roswell, N.M., Carlsbad, N.M., and Hico, before returning to Pampa in 1980. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a woman of strong Christian faith who loved every person she knew. She was a member of St. Matthew's Episcopal Church. She was also preceded in death by a foster son, J.N. Wright. Burial will be in Gageby Cemetery in Gageby by Wright Funeral Home of Wheeler. Mrs. Fillingim was born May 30, 1918, in Lipscomb County to William and Flora Rose. She married Hershal Singleton, who preceded her in death in 1945. She married E.G. Fillingim on May 9, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1999. She attended school in Booker, graduating from Booker High School. She attended West Texas Normal College. She moved to Hemphill County after she and E.G. married. She was an active member of Gageby Baptist Church. Mrs. Fillingim lived out her life on her beloved farm and animal zoo. She organized farm play days and kindergarten animal days. She received the State Conservation Homemakers Award and shared her love of all animals with everyone. Foremost in her mind was the salvation of all of those she came in contact with. She was also preceded in death by a son, Gerry Fillingim; her parents; two brothers, Houston Rose and Virgil Rose; and a sister, Elma Rives. Mrs. Clark was born June 28, 1931, in Skellytown to John Virgil Sudduth and Rosetta Wells Sudduth. She was a home health care assistant. She loved taking care of horses. She was an amazing woman who will be missed by many. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Ray Clark in 2000; two children; and two grandchildren. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Jenkins was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Memphis. He married Bobbie Jean Nunnelley on March 20, 1948, in Memphis. She preceded him in death in 1988. He was a custodian for the U.S. Postal Service for 30 years. He was a member of Hobart Baptist Church and was a veteran of the Army. He was also preceded in death by a son, Rudolph Lavaughn Jenkins Jr., in 1996; three sisters, Luava Hunter, Thelma Walker and Zettie Jo Sigler; and two brothers, L.E. Jenkins Jr., and Arlin Jenkins. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Mark J. Wallis of Life Tabernacle Church of Dumas officiating and the Rev. Sam Eaton, pastor of Life Temple in Dallas, assisting. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mr. McCutchan was born Nov. 28, 1957, in Dumas and was a lifelong resident of Dumas. He married Tracy Lynn Campbell on Aug. 22, 1980. They were happily married for more than 25 years, Tracy being the love and joy of his life. Mr. McCutchan graduated from Dumas High School in 1976. His working experience started in 1978 with Continental Telephone Co. In 1983, Dorvel launched his independent business career with PAO Enterprises. In July 1987, he founded Moore Windshield and Services. In 2000, Moore Windshield acquired Dumas Overhead Garage Door and Dumas Glass and Mirror. The business has grown to its current level, employing 12 people and making a significant commercial contribution to the city of Dumas. In 2004, he received the Moore County Chamber of Commerce Retailer of the Year Award. He was a community leader who served as a board member of the Dumas Area Crisis Pregnancy Center and YMCA. He also was a tireless promoter of Dumas and frequent and generous contributor to charitable causes in Moore County. He was a committed Christian and an elder of Life Tabernacle Church in Dumas. He implemented and walked out his faith in every aspect of his life. He was loved as a husband, father, son, uncle, friend and business associate, a respected businessman and church leader. His life touched and affected many others. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Traydon Malachi McCutchan. Survivors include his wife; a son, Caleb McCutchan of Dumas; a daughter, Jordan McCutchan of Dumas; his parents, Don and Nada McCutchan of Dumas; two brothers, Leroy McCutchan and wife, Shirley, of Dumas and Belvin McCutchan and wife, Pam, of Borger; a brother-in-law, Bobby Campbell of Dallas; a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Carrie Ford of Dumas; his mother and father-in- law, Bob and Gay Lynn Campbell of Dumas; and nine nieces and nephews. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Home of Perryton. Mr. Yauck was born July 14, 1924, in Follett. He married Bernice Tyler in 1946 in Follett. Survivors include his wife; a son, Dennis Royce Yauck of Follett; a daughter, Arlene Grace of Amarillo; two sisters, Lillie Yauck and Lena Yauck, both of Follett; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens by Kornerstone Funeral Directors. Mr. Steen passed away at 5:05 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 24, at Prairie House Living Center. Preston was born Nov. 23, 1934, in a half dugout around Quemado, N.M., where his parents, William Howard Steen and Henrietta Garrison Steen, along with his grandparents, John Monroe Garrison and Lillia Day Garrison, and uncle and aunt, Auther Preston Garrison and Anna Stone Garrison, were homesteading. Preston and his family moved to Hayden, N.M., and later on to the area around Amistad, N.M., where they farmed and ranched. Preston attended Amistad schools through his junior year, then graduated from Clayton High School in Clayton, N.M. In 1954, he and his family moved to Hale County and farmed and ranched in the Happy Union area. He continued to farm and semi-retired two years ago. He had a love for his family, the land and his cattle, and also of his fellow man. He celebrated his 71st birthday on Wednesday. He married Sylvia A. King Albright on Dec. 26, 1959, in Plainview. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Stephen Glen Steen and wife, Laura, of Plainview and Michael Lynn Steen and wife, Mary, of Plano; seven grandchildren, Skyler Glen Steen, Spencer Glen Steen, Ryan Shuerger, Kyle Shuerger and Elizabeth Jones, all of Plainview and twin grandsons, John Morgan Steen and William Gregory Steen of Plano; a brother, Earl Weston Steen and wife, Jeanette, of Hale Center; a sister, Carolyn Kay Smith and husband, J. She married Joe Manzanares on June 8, 1996, in Pampa. She worked for the Pampa Country Club for 23 years, serving as manager for the past 17 years. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. She was very active in community affairs, participating in the Chautauqua Fun Run every year. She loved to teach aerobics and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She loved treating her family and friends to a "Girl's Day Out" every year in the summer and at Christmas. The biggest part of Robin's life was her dedication to her job at the country club. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Hill in 1994. Survivors include her husband; two stepsons, Isaiah Manzanares and A.J. Mrs. Mercer, longtime resident of Hereford, was born April 9, 1929, in Deaf Smith County to parents Luke L. and Mildred McBrayer. She was the granddaughter of Ira and Annie Ricketts, who were Deaf Smith County pioneers. Betty graduated from Hartley High School in 1947. She graduated from West Texas State College in Canyon in 1951 and received her master's degree from West Texas State College in 1955. She began her teaching career in Hartley and Stratford. Betty taught school for 36 years, 27 of those years were in Hereford. Betty married Fred Mercer in 1956 in Stratford. He preceded her in death in 1976. Betty was a member of First Baptist Church of Hereford, the Hereford Pilot Club, the La Plata Study Club and the TSTA. She was a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She was also past president of the Hereford Retired Teachers. Coulter St. Mrs. White was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Amarillo. She married Phillip Dean White on Sept. 14, 1974, in the gazebo at Las Tiendas where their import business was located. They were married 31 years. She was part owner of Galaxie Imports and worked for SPS as a data operator until her retirement. She did volunteer work at Bethesda Cancer Center and at Northwest Texas Hospital. She was not only a loving wife and business partner, but Phillip's best friend. She loved the Lord with all her heart. She loved her garden and her trees, as well as her home. She was a very caring person. She and her husband were members of Trinity Fellowship for more than 21 years and had most recently attended Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arlie and Ruby Lee Maxwell, and a brother, Arlie Wayne Maxwell. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Janet Capansky of Fritch; a sister, LaNita Barton and husband, Wesley, of Amarillo; and two brothers, Sonny Maxwell and wife, Jerene, of Amarillo, and Bob Maxwell and wife, Bobbi, of Pottsboro. She had been a resident of Amarillo for 26 years, where she was a bakery and deli manager for United Supermarkets for 15 years. She was very active in the arts and crafts industry and was a associated with Mel Prather Crafts. She was very active in her church and loved to sew and do all kinds of crafts. Survivors include two daughters, Tamara Bailey and Laura Rockholt and husband, Chane, all of Amarillo; a son, James C. Georgia St. Mr. Poole was born April 30, 1927, in Silverton to William and Mattie Lee Poole. He married Doris Marie Morrison on Sept. 2, 1954, in Clovis, N.M. They moved to Denver. He was in the real estate business in Estes Park, Colo. They moved to Goodnight, where he raised horses and farmed. He bred registered appaloosa horses for more than 40 years. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen McCain. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Bluebonnet Hills Funeral Home Memorial Chapel in Colleyville. Mrs. Kelley was born Dec. 14, 1943, to W.T. and Bernice Lawson in Greensboro, N.C. She married Gary Kelley on Sept. 14, 1962, in Arlington. Her family moved from Greensboro to Bryan in 1947. They then moved to Arlington, where she graduated from Arlington High School in 1962. After getting married later that year, "Shelly" and her new family continued to live in Arlington until 1977, when they moved to Amarillo and stayed until 1989. The family then came back to the area, where they have resided in North Richland Hills ever since. Shelly never met a stranger and was never shy about starting up a conversation with anyone and everyone she met. Her warmth and sense of humor made her a favorite in the local community. In addition to raising two children, she loved her cats, tending to her garden and decorating her home. She also loved to gamble with mother-daughter trips to Las Vegas being a favorite. Her caring nature also led her to community and charitable involvement including the American Cancer Society, Meals on Wheels, National Bone Marrow Donor Registry, Cystic Fibrosis, MS, St. Jude Hospital, ASPCA and other local charities. She was preceded in death by her father, W.T. Lawson and her stepfather, O.B. Saxton. Survivors include her husband of 43 years; a daughter, Kathy Kelley of North Richland Hills; a son, Matthew Kelley of Chicago; her mother, Bernice Saxton; a sister, Susan Spoor and husband, Pat, of Arlington; a sister-in-law, Sue Menser of Madisonville, Ky.; and numerous aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
