Mr. Herring was born in 1940 in Stamford. He moved to Amarillo in 1956, where he attended Amarillo High School. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Thursday in Howard Cemetery, Eastland County, in Desdemona. Mrs. Davis was born March 8, 1943, in Tuscaloosa, Ala., to Paul Skinner and Elaine Smith Skinner. Mrs. Davis was active in her church, traveling on mission trips to Brazil, Korea and Mexico. She was a caring, loving mother, grandmother, wife and friend who touched many lives. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth; two sons, Tim Hooten of Brownfield and Scott Hooten of Frisco; a daughter, Sandy Hooten of Frisco; two sisters, Lou Ann Hill of Keller and Helen Collum of Desdemona; two stepsons, Dwayne Davis of Vega and Kenneth Todd Davis of South Carolina; and 11 grandchildren. Mr. Wibbing was born Sept. 21, 1944, in Fort Smith, Ark. He lived in Dumas from 1946 to 1983, and in Emory for the past five years. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1963. When he retired he had driven a truck for 27 years. He was preceded in death by his father, H.A. Wibbing, in 1993. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. in Castro County Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Dimmitt. Mrs. McGaughy was born June 4, 1926, in White Deer. She was a graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock. She married Dexter Eugene McGaughy on Aug. 29, 1946, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death in 1967. She was an educator with the Pampa Independent School District for more than 20 years. She also taught in Amarillo, Dimmitt, Dalhart and Thrall. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the Pampa Senior Citizens Center. She was an avid bridge player and loved to travel. She was preceded in death by a son, Joe Don McGaughy in 1967; and two brothers, Alton Powers and Ray Powers. Survivors include a son, Tim McGaughy and wife, Becky, of Amarillo; a sister, Virginia Flaherty of Pampa; two grandsons, David McGaughy and J. T. John Malcolm Laing AMES, IOWA - John Malcolm Laing, 57, formerly of Amarillo, Texas, died Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Collegiate Presbyterian Church in Ames. J. Malcolm Laing was born Sept. 4, 1948, in Lubbock, Texas, to Malcolm M. and Ruth Wagner Laing. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1967, where he was an outstanding athlete in football, basketball and track. He attended Princeton Theological Seminary and received his Doctorate of Ministry from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in 1982. During his youth he was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Amarillo. He had lived in Ames for four months. Before that, he lived in Los Angeles for 10 years and in the Houston area before that. He was a minister at Collegiate Presbyterian Church for just four months but made a strong impact during that short time. He was an active member of the Presbytery, serving on several committees of ministry. He was preceded in death by his mother, Ruth Laing. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer, of Ames; his father, Malcolm M. Laing of Amarillo; two sons, Aaron Laing and wife, Holly, of Grand Junction, Colo., and Adam Laing of Los Angeles; a daughter, Rebecca Bower and husband, Brian, of Staunton, Va.; two brothers, Charles Laing of Eagar, Ariz., and David Laing and wife, Mary, of McAllen; and three grandchildren, Taylor and Morgan Laing and Madison Bower.
