Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Bell Avenue Baptist Church with Danny Logan officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Lively was born Nov. 22, 1933, to Harvey and Helen Lively in Elk City, Okla. He was a longtime member of Bell Avenue Baptist Church. He retired as a conductor for Burlington Northern Santa Fe after working 40 years. He was an avid fan of football and boxing. He was a 1953 graduate of Amarillo High School. He was a loving family man and friend and will be missed by all. Mr. Lively was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Arline Smith. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Juanita; a son, Robert Lively; three daughters, Ronda Chambers and husband, Stoney, Randi Londagin and Rebecca Whittaker; a brother, Dean Lively; a sister, Jayne Jones; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. "Bud" Meacham Paul A. "Bud" Meacham, 84, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2005. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Dreamland Cemetery in Turkey with Delos Johnson of the Church of Christ and Jim Fox, chaplain of VistaCare Hospice officiating. Arrangements are by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Martin Road Chapel, 1505 Martin Road. Mr. Meacham was born Oct. 14, 1921, in Turkey and was raised there, moving to Amarillo 40 years ago. He served in the Army during World War II with the 1924 QM Truck Co Marksman Carbine. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal. He was active in farming and ranching and raised quarter horses. He was also active in Plains Livestock Trucking. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bulah R. Meacham in 1994. Survivors include a son, Randy Meacham of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Pam Johnson of Amarillo; a stepson, Carl McMhan of Garland; two sisters, Nora Buchanan of Amarillo and Peggy Sanders of Junction; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. "Mrs. Mac" McElwany, a wonderful and adored mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and friend died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, surrounded by her loving family. Leona was born July 13, 1912, to Honest James and Ozie Selman in Hubbert. She married Howard "Rusty" McElwany on Sept. 6, 1937, in Amarillo. "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under Heaven." Leona knew what her purpose in life was, and that was to love and nurture her family and those who knew her. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and especially adored her grandchildren who called her "Meme." Her love of children spilled over into her everyday life. She was a lifelong member of Second Baptist Church, caring and teaching in the nursery for 52 years where she was known as "Mrs. Mac." In every season of her life, she remained true to her spirit and character as a loving woman of God. Leona was an avid game player and especially loved the company of her grandchildren and friends while she played. Her favorite spot during the last few years of her wonderful life were spending time on her son's patio at his lake home soaking in the sun, laughter of the children and the beauty of God's world. Her spirit will always live in our hearts and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Inez Brandon; and a brother, J.D. Selman. Mrs. Sawatzki was born April 2, 1941, in St. Louis. She attended Saint Elizabeth Academy in St. Louis, received her B.A. in Dietetics from Fontbonne University in St. Louis and did her internship at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati. She was employed as a dietitian at Saint Joseph Hospital in Omaha, Neb., and Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa. She married Johnny Sawatzki on Aug. 19, 1967, in Saint Peter's Church in Omaha. She was a homemaker for 20 years, during which time she was a Girl Scout organizer, member of the Nebraska Democratic Central Committee, the Douglas County, Neb., Democratic Central Committee and an unsuccessful candidate for the Omaha Public Schools Board. From 1990 through 1993, she operated the Royal Palacio Motel in Tucumcari, N.M., in partnership with her husband and served on the Tucumcari Motel Tax Committee. She was employed in a number of Amarillo fast food stores and in the dining room of The Continental retirement home until joining the food service staff of Thomas Creek Veterans Hospital in June 1999. She retired April 14, 2005. She was a member of the Parish Council of Saint Martin de Porres Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, Spc. Gabriel Sawatzki, Nebraska Army National Guard. Survivors include her husband; four daughters, Cassandra Sawatzki and husband, Brock Prusha, of Des Moines, Tekakwitha Snel and husband, Joseph, of Grayson, Ky., Tech. Sgt. Samuel Young Stennis was born March 4, 1917, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Sam and Jeannie Stennis. The family moved to Dallas when he was 6 and later moved to Pampa, where he graduated from Pampa High School. He received a degree in metallurgy from the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colo. He joined ASARCO zinc smelter in 1939 as a chemist and later held the position of plant manager beginning in 1968 until it closed in 1975. He then became an assistant to the ASARCO copper refinery manager until he retired in 1982. He was active in a variety of organizations, including the Amarillo Board of City Development, which he chaired in 1978, and the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce, where he served as a director and member of the industrial committee. He is a past president of the Amarillo Rotary Club and Amarillo Growth Association. He was active in Kids Inc., Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, West Texas Chamber of Commerce, Salvation Army Advisory Board, Texas Association of Business and the American Institute of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering. As a leader of the Amarillo job matching fair for six years, he helped match more than 1,500 unemployed or underemployed workers with positions in area business. As Chairman of the Mid-Continent Foundation Board of Texas State Technical Institute, he helped raise more than $35,000 and about $20,000 in equipment to develop a machinist training program at the school. In 1981, Stennis was named the "Texas Volunteer Industrial Developer of the Year." Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Elsie Harbison Stennis; three children; Sudie Stennis of Houston, Dr. Sam Stennis and wife, Gail, of Amarillo and Robert Stennis and wife, Beverly, of Bryan; eight grandchildren, Malie Raef, Jeni Roller, Beth Sublett, Samuel Stennis, Katy Sewell, David Stennis, Jill Stennis and Sara Langford; two great-grandchildren, Glori and Gabi Roller; and a sister, Jeannie Stennis Howard of Waco. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in the theatre of Tarrant County College Southeast campus. Dennis was born in the Texas Panhandle town of Dalhart, and grew up in Phillips. He earned his Bachelor's and Master's degrees at West Texas State University. He was an Associate Professor with TCC. He taught History and Geography to thousands of students for more than 38 years in the Tarrant County College system where he received many awards recognizing his skills as a teacher. Outside of teaching, Dennis enjoyed travel, movies and landscaping his beautiful home. His favorite pastime, however, was spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eletha and Robert Roediger and Farris and Jo Cornelius.
