Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Memorial Park’s Chapel of Memories with Jon Watson, associate pastor of Central Baptist Church, officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial park Funeral Home. Mr. Berger was born July 31, 1933, to Adolph Edward and Minnie Louise Berger in Gonzales County. He married Lou Jeanette Gibson in Lamesa on Aug. 3, 1957. They moved to Amarillo in 1984, where Mr. Berger was a One Way Rental Manager for Ryder Truck Rental and received the title of Rental Master. Mr. Berger was also a Korean War era veteran. He is preceded in death by his parents and an infant son in 1963. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Dennis Harold Berger and wife, Teresa, of Lubbock, and Steven Wayne Berger of Bogota, Colombia; a daughter in law, Dana, of Bellingham, Wash; three brothers, Clarence Berger, of Shiner, Sidney Berger of Coleman and Jerry Berger of Huxley, Iowa; two sisters; Willie Mae Smith, of Lamesa, and Linda Pavliska of Hallettsville; and three grandchildren; Elizabeth, Christopher and Kyle Berger. Cooper, 83, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005. Funeral services will be today in the Church of Christ in Borger with Richard Kasko of Fritch Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of Hope at Highland Park Cemetery by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Cooper was born on Jan. 15, 1922, in Beckham County, Okla. She married J.M. Cooper on Sept. 9, 1939, in Texola, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1994. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Nix and husband, Terry, of Amarillo and Phyllis McILroy of Lubbock; a brother, Don Gordon of Elk City, Okla.; two sisters, Betty Tipton of Borger and Bobbie Nix of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Lance Claudius Mulkey Lance, 87, of Amarillo, died Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church Chapel with Dr. Howard Batson, Pastor, and the Rev. Lynn Garrett, Pastor to Senior Adults, officiating. Burial will be at Llano Cemetery at a later date by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Amarillo, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Lance was born in Hardeman County, near Chillicothe, on Dec. 23, 1917. He was the second child of Sarah Lottie Mulkey and Claudius Melvin Lance. He graduated from King’s High School in Medicine Mound. He married Eula Lavaun Snitker on March 20, 1939, in the pastor’s study at First Baptist Church in Amarillo. Mr. Lance served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was with the optical detachment in New Caledonia/The Philippines. After returning to Amarillo he worked for Riggs Optical before moving to Littlefield, where he worked as an optician for B.W. Armistead & Ira E. Woods. In 1960, Mr. Lance returned to Amarillo and worked for Dr. Frank Duncan until his retirement. Mr. Lance was a member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon and a member of the Heritage Club. He was preceded in death by a sister, Etta Mae Gibson and a brother, Clarence Ray Lance. Survivors include his wife; a sister; Dorine Cunningham of Canton; a daughter, Linda Karen Lamirande and husband, Gerald, of Grapevine; two grandchildren, Julie McLaughlin of Herndon, Va., and Brian Lamirande of Denton; and a great grandson, Caiden. Mrs. Hill was born on June 25, 1955, in Pampa and was a lifelong Donley County resident. She was a 1973 graduate of Clarendon High School and was a public school teacher. Mrs. Beavers was born Aug. 31, 1913, in Pottawatomie County, Okla., to John and Eliza Grimes Simpson. She married Walter “Walt” Thomas Beavers on Dec. 1, 1934, in Lawton, Okla. The family moved to Canyon in 1942, then to the Dawn area in the late 1940s. She was a wonderful wife, mother and homemaker. She cooked for the Dawn School for a number of years and also drove a school bus at times. Mrs. Beavers loved caring for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and a number of the small children in the Dawn area as long as she was able. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walt, in 1982; a sister, Lois Garrett of Duncan, Okla.; and two great-grandchildren. Survivors include two daughters, Claudine May of Lawton, Okla., and Waltine Tucek and husband, Glenn, of Canyon; a son, Manuel Beavers and wife, Sandra, of Hereford; a sister, Edna Lamb of Marlow, Okla.; 12 grandchildren; 25 great- grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. Miller Sr. FRIONA - Roy V. Miller Sr., 100, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2005. Burial with military honors will be in the Friona Cemetery by Blackwell Funeral Home of Friona. Mr. Miller was born Oct. 7, 1905, to Joseph Franklin and Daisy Sims Miller Jr. in Duke, Okla. He was a graduate of Oklahoma A&M University and was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army as a Major. He married Eva Geraldine Roysden on March 8, 1930, in Ninnekah, Okla. He moved to the Friona area in 1945 from New Orleans. He was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Friona. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen of the World, Past President of the Friona Evening Lions Club, Friona American Legion, a long time member of the Friona Library Board, and served as president of the Friona Cemetery Association for many years. He was a retired farmer. He was preceded in death by 3 sons, Johnny Miller in 1960, Ross Miller in 1980 and Roy Miller Jr. in 2004. Services are by Hughs Funeral Home of Canadian. Mr. Ortega was born in Amarillo on Jan. 9, 1916, to Maria Corrillo and Jose Ortega. He attended schools in Mendota. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in the infantry during World War II. He married Mae Chumbley on July 2, 1944, in Shamrock. She preceded him in death on Oct. 12, 1994. He moved to Canadian in 1920 from Amarillo. He worked as a mechanic for 40 years at Hobdy Motor Company. Frank was a lifetime member of VFW, where he served as Post Commander for many years. He was an avid sportsman and a member of the Canadian Booster Club. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Frances Ortega, on Feb. 18, 1950. Mrs. Witten was born June 16, 1946, to Juanita Mae and Morris Milyn Doctor in Kansas. She married Bill Witten in 1968 at the First Baptist Church in Boise City. Survivors include a son, Bill Witten; three sisters, Fidelis Pugh of Boise City, Ramona Wiseman of Houston and Beverly Larky of Fowler, Colo.; two brothers, Morris Doctor Jr., of Texas and Don Boxwell of Grand Junction, Colo.; and two grandchildren.
