Buckley Ruby A. Buckley, 92, of Amarillo, formerly of Borger, died Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005. Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains in Borger with Neville Buchanan and Joel Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Buckley was born Aug. 1, 1912, in Stonewall, Okla. She was a fifth grade teacher at Davy Crockett Elementary for 31 years. Survivors include a daughter, Norma Buckley Sallee of Rockwall; two brothers, W. Jack Anderson of Santa Barbara, Calif., and Joe W. Anderson of Independence, Mo.; a sister, Bobbye J. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Bishop was born Aug. 18, 1905, in Cowpens, S.C., to Exony and Perry Ivy Elm, one of seven children. She moved from South Carolina with her husband, Robert Bishop and their young children to the Texas Panhandle in 1930. Onie was a lifelong Methodist. She had been a member of San Jacinto Methodist Church since moving to Amarillo in 1943. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five brothers; and a sister. Survivors include three daughters, Elsie Compton, Thelma "Tana" Fender and Gloria Scott; a son, Dallas Bishop; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; and a great-great-great-grandchild. He was the manager for three years for the boys baseball team in Umbarger. He was a member of the Bushland Co-op. He was a farmer most of his life. He belonged to St. Hyacinth Catholic Church. He married Virginia Rossi on July 28, 1947, in Happy. Survivors include his wife; a son, Bob Gerber and wife, Elaine, of Hereford; three daughters, Nadine Berend and husband, Ray, of Hereford, Irene Riley and husband, Mark, of Oklahoma City and Debbie Gerber of Amarillo; 10 grandchildren, Stephen Riley, Kari Riley, Melissa Berend, Michael Berend, Brent Berend, Marcus Berend, Michelle Baca, Kali Gerber, Jamie Gerber and Megan Gerber; and three great-grandchildren, Jayton Baca, Colton Baca and Lexie Baca. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church Chapel with Alan Williamson, chaplain of Park Central Retirement Community, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Ratcliffe attended the School for the Blind in Austin from 1935 to 1948. She graduated from McMurray University in Abilene in 1952. She operated a concession stand at Plains Chevrolet from 1955 to 1965. She married Jim Ratcliffe on Nov. 13, 1965. He preceded her in death in 1999. She was a member of First Baptist Church. Susie was an inspiration to all who met her. Even though she was blind, she was independent and didn't consider herself handicapped. She played the piano and organ anytime she was asked and could play anything requested. She valued her privacy and was happiest when she could read her Braille Bible and books. Survivors include a sister, Joyce Blackburn and husband, Carrol, of Lubbock, and a niece, a nephew and a great-niece, all of Lubbock. Betty Goen, a longtime friend, and family adopted and cared for her after her husband died and helped make it possible for her to live alone for the last six years. Another friend, Sharon Goar, assisted in her care the last year of her life. He married Helen Churchman on July 10, 1992, in Las Vegas. He had been a resident of Pampa since 1997, moving from Higgins. He was owner and operator of Bybee Water Wells, Inc. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Higgins and the Higgins Masonic Lodge No. 82 AF & AM. He was a former Lipscomb County commissioner in Precinct Four from 1968 until 1982. He was a veteran of the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He enjoyed flying and riding motorcycles.
