Mrs. Goodwin was born Dec. 4, 1918, in Mena, Ark., and she and her family moved to Tell in 1920 where they farmed until 1943. She married Orville D. Goodwin on Nov. 28, 1940, in Seymour. He attended Wheeler Christian Academy in Wheeler and graduated in 2003 from Wheeler High School. He was living in Amarillo and working for Tripp's Harley-Davidson while attending Amarillo College. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Sweetwater, Okla., by Wright Funeral Home. Mrs. Welch was born May 23, 1909, in Sweetwater to Frank and Sadie Scantling Ragsdale. She attended school in Sweetwater. She married Elgia Welch in 1926 in Mayfield, Okla. They left Sweetwater in 1965, moving to Keys, Okla. In 1975, they moved to Briscoe. Mrs. Welch was a homemaker. She had been in the Wheeler Care Center since 1995. She attended the Baptist church. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1987; a son, Bill Welch; four sisters, two brothers; and three grandchildren. Georgia St. Mr. Bixler was born Nov. 25, 1926, in Waynoka, Okla., to Floyd and Hazel Bixler. He graduated from Waynoka High School in 1945, leaving home to serve his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Bixler returned to Waynoka after his military service and married Lorain Gadberry on Oct. 16, 1949. He began his long career with Santa Fe Railway, moving to Amarillo in 1971 with the railroad. Mr. Bixler retired from the railroad after 43 years. Mr. Bixler was a sports enthusiast, enjoying sports of all types, and passing that on to his sons. He actively and eagerly participated in their lives, supporting them in all their endeavors, from coaching them in little league football to sharing his love for flying. He and the family also spent much of their time together trout fishing in their favorite spots in Colorado. Mr. Bixler was a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Amarillo, the American Legion and the Masonic Lodge of Waynoka. He and his wife celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary in October of this year. She married Virgil Duck in Santa Rosa, N.M. Later she married William C. Wilson and lived in Big Spring for 30 years before moving to Amarillo six years ago. Mrs. Wilson was a homemaker and a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Big Spring. She enjoyed square dancing, was an artist and she also wrote poetry. Her joy was her children and all her grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands; and a son, Virgil Allen Duck. Speed Jerry M. Speed, 68, of Amarillo died Monday, Dec. 26, 2005. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Speed was born July 11, 1937, to Kyle M. and Gladys Doster Speed in Lamesa. Mr. Speed grew up in Amarillo and graduated from Amarillo High School. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. His service as a Marine was a source of pride throughout his lifetime. After being honorably discharged from the military, Mr. Speed attended the Dallas Institute of Mortuary Science. During his 35-year career as a funeral director, Mr. Speed assisted countless families in the care of their loved ones. Mr. Speed served his community as a former member and president of the Tascosa Lions Club and as a member and president of the Panhandle Area Funeral Directors Association. Spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, was one of Mr. Speed's favorite pastimes. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, James Speed; and two sisters, Billye Katharyn Runquist and Mary Lou Bruce.
