Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with Dennis Westover, pastor, officiating. Gary married Patsy Donica on May 29, 1959, in Amarillo. He attended Texas Tech University and obtained the American Medical Technologists Certification through St. Anthony's Hospital. He was the Supervisor of the Dumas Memorial Hospital laboratory until his retirement due to his health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Wylma Adams; and a brother, Donald Adams. Gary donated his body to medical science in the hope of helping to find a cure for Huntington chorea. Survivors include his wife, Patsy Adams; three daughters, Yvonne Adams of Amarillo, Dani Smith of Plano and Deborah Jaggie of St. Peters, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society or a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Rev. Harry A. Babbitt The Rev. Harry A. Babbitt, 54, died Monday, Jan. 2, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Paramount Baptist Church with Dr. Gil Lain and the Rev. Grant Gikas, pastor of the Harvest Church in Granbury, officiating. Private family committal will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Harry was born Feb. 22, 1951, in Vernon and was raised in Las Vegas, N.M. He was a graduate of Robertson High School in Las Vegas. He graduated from Wayland Baptist University and received his Master of Divinty degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He married Sheliah McAnear on Dec. 27, 1974, in Clarendon. He served as Minister of Education at Ashcreek Baptist Church in Azle while attending seminary. He pastored Normandale Baptist Church in White Settlement and South Georgia Baptist Church in Amarillo before becoming Pastoral Care Leader at Paramount Baptist Church, where he served at the time of his death. He taught theology at Amarillo College for two years and served on the Executive Board of the Amarillo Area Baptist Association and for two years as a Pastoral Ambassador for the Amarillo Baptist Association. He served on the Church Ministries Committee for the Southern Baptists of Texas Convention and also served as the chaplain for the Randall High School football team from 1998 to 2000. Harry enjoyed watching football and NASCAR and enjoyed being with his family and friends. His greatest desire was for people to come to know Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Babbitt. Survivors include his wife, Sheliah of Amarillo; three sons, Aaron Kyle Babbitt, Trevor Allen Babbitt and Jarrod Neal Babbitt and wife Kristin, all of Amarillo; his parents, Clifford and Thelma Babbitt of Las Vegas; two brothers, his twin, Garry Babbitt and Kerry Babbitt and wife Lanetta, all of Clovis, N.M. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Brown was born in Amarillo and was a lifetime resident. She graduated from Amarillo High School and received her registered nurse degree from Amarillo College. She worked as a registered nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital. Mrs. Brown was involved with Samaritan's Purse and Compassion and was a faithful supporter of Neighborhood Sunday School, an outreach program of Second Baptist Church. She married Byron Brown on Feb. 15, 1951, in Clovis, N.M. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jan Elizabeth Kaler on March 31, 1994. Survivors include her husband, Byron Brown of Amarillo; three sons, Jim Bob Brown of Amarillo, Paul Brown of Henderson, Nev., and Bill Brown of Greenville, S.C.; two daughters, Kay Elliott and Luann Everitt, both of Amarillo; 21 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. "Jack" Gallarneau J.B. "Jack" Gallarneau, 84, of Amarillo died Saturday, Dec. 31, 2005. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Edwards of Albuquerque, N.M., officiating and the Rev. Rusty Dickerson, pastor of St. Paul United Methodist Church, assisting. Private burial will follow in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Jack, youngest son of Bernard Alexander and Winifred Gallarneau, was born Dec. 4, 1921, in Brighton, Mich. He served proudly as a U.S. Marine during World War II. After the war, he came to Amarillo where his parents and brother had relocated. Jack met his sweetheart, Vera Agnes Horning, and they married, Oct. 24, 1946. Gallarneau Bros., a candy vending company started by Jack's brother in 1937, grew under the guidance of the brothers. After Harold's death, the business became Gallarneau Services Inc. and expanded into a full-line vending operation covering the entire Texas Panhandle and parts of New Mexico and Oklahoma that included snack bars and cafeterias. Jack and Vera's children, Cliff and Suzette, joined their father in the business until he retired in 1985. Mr. and Mrs. Gallarneau became charter members of St. Paul United Methodist Church in 1954. During his years of service with the church, Jack taught a class for mentally retarded persons for 20 years, served as Church School Superintendent, Chairman of the Administrative Board, Chairman of Finance, and Chairman of Missions. The world was Jack's mission field and became his "work" after he retired. He served as Coordinator of Volunteers in Mission for the Northwest Texas Conference of the United Methodist Church. He coordinated and participated in trips to Russia (two), Haiti (three), Chicovasco, Mexico (four), other areas of Mexico numerous times, Cuba, Mississippi, and Louisiana. In his mission work, Jack believed in teaching the people how to help themselves and loved the interaction with the children. Giving time to his community throughout his life, Jack served on many boards including Opportunity School and Texas Council Mental Health Mental Retardation Centers Inc. and was a past president of Amarillo Community Center, Children's Rehabilitation Center, Llano Cemetery Association, Amarillo Knife and Fork Club, Wesley Community Center, Wesley Community Center Foundation, and Texas Merchandise Vending Association and Secretary/Treasurer of Texas Panhandle Mental Health Authority and Girl Scouts of Amarillo. Survivors include his wife, Vera Agnes; a son, Cliff Douglas and wife Janice of DeSoto; a daughter, Suzette Compton of Amarillo; two granddaughters, Jennifer Leigh Kinter of Kennedale and Jaclyn Suzette Compton of Amarillo; four grandsons, Christopher Matthew Gallarneau and wife Sheryl of Lubbock, John Lee Bennett and Jared Wade Compton, both of Amarillo, and James Michael Bennett of Plano; five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and dearly loved friends. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Arrie Kesler was born Aug. 19, 1916, to James B. and Carrie A. Smith in Ellis County, Okla. Mrs. Kesler went to Amarillo from Hereford in 1945, and formerly worked for American National Bank, Amarillo National Bank and then various bookkeeping jobs. She married Elbert Kesler in 1957, and they lived in the Amarillo and Canyon area, where she was a member of First Baptist Church of Amarillo and was Secretary of the Sunday school class she attended. She taught in the church nursery from 1964 to 1975. From 1970 to 1993 she worked with her husband in his oil and gas lease brokerage business. Arrie lived in the Texas Panhandle all her life until she moved to Temple in 1995. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elbert Kesler; and a sister, Virgie Hill. Mr. Lowry was born Aug. 30, 1962, to Larry and Sally Wood Lowry in Tulsa, Okla. He worked for Hulcher Professional Services as an environmentalist. Mrs. Short-Slider, lovingly known as Grammer, 86, of Wimberley, passed away Saturday, Dec. 31. She was born Oct. 10, 1919, to Leroy Vernon Williams and Anna May Henderickson Williams in Bartlesville, Okla. Eva Mae worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. for 41 years. She started in Borger and retired in Amarillo. She was a life member of the Southwestern Bell Pioneers and the VFW Auxiliary. Eva Mae was an active member of the Wimberley Senior Citizens and the Lions Club International and attended Wimberley Baptist Church. Grammer's love of life extended not only to her family but to the burros and cats she raised. She was proud of her Harley-Davidson golf cart and used it to check the mail daily and make the rounds on her property Eva Mae married David H. Slider on April 4, 1981. With her superb organizational skills, she was not only his wife, but his partner in the many organizations in which they were involved. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, Frances Lee Williams Hardesty in 2000 and Bertha Marguerite Williams Anthamatten in 1997. A native of West Virginia, Mr. Milligan was the son of the late Robert E. and Georgia Genievive Goodnight Milligan. He spent several years in California working in the motion picture industry as a film and sound technician. Survivors include his wife, Shirley Millison Milligan; a son, Robert E. Fields CANYON - Mildred L. Fields, 90, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in United Methodist Church of Happy with Mike Kuhlman officiating. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery in Happy by Brooks Funeral Directors. Mildred L. Fields was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Amarillo to Ernest and Sally Mashburn. She lived in the Amarillo-Happy area her entire life and graduated from Happy High School. She married Bruce Fields in 1935 and they moved to the Arney community where she started her life as a farm and ranch wife. They moved to Canyon in 1982, and Bruce preceded her in death soon after. Mildred became a staunch follower of the Lady Buff Basketball team and followed them loyally until health problems caused her to be unable to attend the games. Survivors include a son, Bruce "Vonnie" Fields and wife Anne of Canyon; a grandson, Scott Fields and wife Katrina of Happy; three great-grandchildren, Charlie, Lucy, and Gus Fields; and nieces and cousins in the Panhandle area. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, Canyon Ward with President Bruce Tate officiating. Darlene Usleton was born Oct. 12, 1955, to Charles and Nancy Walker Davis at Parks Air Force Base in Pleasanton, Calif. She graduated from Pampa High School in 1974 and graduated from Amarillo College in 1976. Darlene enjoyed music, playing the clarinet in high school, and was a past president of Canyon High School Band Booster Club. She married Tommy Dale Usleton in 1979 and has since divorced. Tommy is now married to Glenda Fessler. Darlene was a great- granddaughter of W.L. Bill Lohberger, an early settler of Wheeler County. She enjoyed working with Affiliated Foods for 20 years in HBC and Tobacco Purchasing Dept. Darlene was a resident of Canyon for 20 years. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Clarence and Louise Davis; an uncle, Jim Walker; an aunt, Ellie and her husband George Wilkinson. She went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 1, 2006, after a lengthy battle with cancer.
