Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday in Brown Memorial Chapel in Stinnett with Zeb Sailors, minister of Stinnett Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will be in Stinnett Cemetery by Brown Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. King was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Lubbock. She was a hairdresser. Survivors include a daughter, Lenora Patterson of League City; a brother, Othel Myers of Denison; two sisters, Mammie Parker and Lenna Jo Burns, both of Denison; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Arnold Gross MULESHOE - Arnold Gross, 83 died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, in Amarillo. Mr. Gross was a member of First United Methodist Church and the American Legion. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was formerly employed by Celanese Corp. as an operator. Brown, 82, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Shamrock Cemetery with family members officiating. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. Billy M. Brown was born May 5, 1923, in Lutie to Thomas Andrew and Susie Brogdon Brown. He married Dorothy L. Purcell on Dec. 23, 1947, in Wheeler. Mr. Brown was raised east of Shamrock near Elm Creek and live in Amarillo for 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was a mechanic at TSTI. He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Brown. Bryant MIAMI - Raymond L. Bryant, 74, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church, with the Rev. He was a master electrician for H. L. Price & Sons in Amarillo, and was maintenance supervisor for Miami ISD for 16 years. He owned and operated Raymond Bryant Builder Services for many years. Burial will be in The Garden of Beatitudes in Westlawn Memorial Park by Minton/Chatwell Funeral Directors of Borger. Mrs. Clements was born Feb. 13, 1919, in Amarillo. She owned and operated Borger Answering Service from 1969 to 2000. Survivors include two sons, Richard "Dick" Clements of Clarkson, Ky., and Kelly Frank Clements of Arlington; two daughters, Helen Lundgren of Pasadena, Calif., and Bryant Vanelle Hutchinson of Arlington; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Fields CLAUDE - Henry Ford Fields, 89, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006. A celebration of his life and Christ's saving grace will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jess Little of Claude First Baptist Church and the Rev. Charles Davenport, Representative of Baptist General Convention of Texas for West Texas, officiating. Masonic graveside services will follow in Claude Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo. Henry Ford Fields, 89, graduated to eternity with his Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, at his home in Claude. Henry was born June 26, 1916, in Clarendon. He was the youngest of 14 brothers and sisters, all of whom preceded him in death. His parents were pioneer dentist Dr. C. L. Fields and Elizabeth Priddy Fields, who also preceded him in death. He lived most of his growing-up years on the family farm near Groom, where he and his siblings learned faith and hard work. Upon graduation from Groom High School in 1935, Henry earned a football scholarship to West Texas State College in Canyon. He played center, was team co-captain his senior year, earned a BS in physical education and industrial arts and helped build Buffalo Courts. In 1939, Henry began coaching and teaching at Phillips High School in Phillips. His brand of coaching and teaching emphasized character building and encouragement. Henry was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1941, trained with the corps of engineers and became commander of the 27th Special Services Company in 1943, serving with them in the Pacific Islands during World War II. He earned an honorable discharge in 1946, and achieved the rank of Major. On Feb. 27, 1943, Fields married the love of his life, Koma Beryl Mahler, at Fort Meade, Md. Following World War II, the couple made their home in Claude where they farmed and ranched in the counties of Armstrong, Carson, Hemphill and Roberts for 60 years. Henry also taught woodworking for a number of years after WWII in Claude. Henry belonged to First Baptist Church of Claude where he was humbled to serve for many years as deacon and boys' Sunday school teacher. He was a Master Mason in Claude Lodge No. 719 where he recently earned his 60-year pin and was a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. Mr. Fields held membership in Texas Simmental (cattle) Association and American Simmental Association, serving as President of both in the mid-'70s and early 1980s. Henry further served his Lord, his community and his profession through membership on various boards such as for Claude Independent School District, Wayland Baptist University, Federal Land Bank and Baptist General Convention of Texas. He earned the distinction of being named to the WTAMU Athletic Hall of Champions in 2000. Henry Fields was blessed to have a family who loved and respected him deeply. Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years; two children: a daughter, Henra Kay Henard and husband Joe of Lake Tanglewood in Amarillo, and a son, Jack Douglas Fields and wife Shelley of Claude. Henry had seven grandchildren, Evan Henard and wife Carrie of Amarillo, NiKay Smith and husband Tracy of Denver, Nancy Fields, Lindsey Fields, Karli Fields, all of Amarillo, Matt Cox and wife Melissa of Canyon and Ben Cox and wife Suzanne of Amarillo; and five great- grandchildren. His life was also blessed by numerous relatives and many friends and colleagues. The family suggests memorials be to the Scholarship Fund at First Baptist Church, Claude, TX 79019. Lamb TULIA - Tommy D. Lamb, 62, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel with Delaine Rapp, pastor of Slaton Church of Christ, officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Lamb was born Oct. 27, 1943, in Quanah and attended school there. He married Barbara Turner on Jan. 15, 1965, in Abernathy. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Cindy Brewer of Sherman and Leigh Byrd of Tulia; a son, Butch Lamb of Abilene; a brother, Bobby Lamb of Tulia; and nine grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- William Eugene McCampbell CLARENDON - William Eugene McCampbell, 49, died Monday, Jan. 16, 2006, in Amarillo. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Stephens Baptist Church with the Rev. Melvin Brooks, pastor, Roy Williams, elder, and the Rev. Jim Kelly officiating. Burial will be in Citizens Cemetery by Robertson Funeral Directors. William was born Dec. 31, 1956, in Clarendon to Walter and Essie Jean McCampbell. William, known to many as "Rooster," attended and graduated from Clarendon High School in 1976. He remained in Clarendon for years and held various jobs employed at the local lumber yard, also as a cook at local restaurants, finally obtaining a job with Burlington Northern Railroad. William united in matrimony to LaRhonda Hicks on Aug. 15, 1981, and later divorced in the early '90s. He moved to Amarillo in 1984, where he obtained employment with Weyerhaeuser and worked until May 1994, at which time he was hospitalized. He never fully recovered and spent the remainder of his life in a nursing facility. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter McCampbell; two grandsons, William Smith and Sean Lowrie; a brother, Walter McCampbell Jr.; and his grandparents, B.W. Smith and Hamilton and Della McCampbell. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Jessie was born July 20, 1938, in Henrietta to Jack and Willie Mae Anderson. She was reared and attended school in Henrietta. She moved to Amarillo in 1963. She married Clarence Clayton in 1973, and he preceded her in death. She worked at Wyatt's Cafeteria as a baker until they closed. She then worked for Toot'n Totum as a clerk for 15 years and retired in 2005. Survivors include three sons, Floyd Cleaver Jr. and Danny L. Cleaver, both of Amarillo, and Ernest D. Christian of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three daughters, Elaine Berry of Houston, Stephanie E. Wilson of Long Beach, Calif., and Shirley J. Wright of Cleburne; two brothers, Willie L. "Buddy" Butts, 64, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. He was known as "Fluff" to his many friends, and was a generous man with a big heart. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cora and Jake Butts. Survivors include two brothers, Charles and Anthony; two sons, John and Joey; and a granddaughter, Ashley. Spurlock Ruth I. Spurlock, 92, died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Parlor at Park Place Towers with the Rev. Alan Williamson officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Spurlock was born in Waco and graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in Nutrition Science in 1939. She married Dr. James J. Spurlock on Sept. 1, 1939, in Austin. They moved to Denton where Dr. Spurlock was a Chemistry Professor and later became the Academic Vice-President of the University of North Texas. He served the university for more than 30 years before retiring in 1976. He passed away in 1993. Mrs. Spurlock was very active at the university where she was a member of the AAUW (American Association of University Women), Women of North Texas University, and President of the Faculty Wives Club. She was also active in First United Methodist Church in Denton. Upon moving to Amarillo, she became a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women. She moved to Amarillo in 1996, where she resided at Park Place Towers. She loved her many wonderful friends and the caring employees at Park Place. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a daughter, Carolyn Bliss Spurlock, in 2005. Survivors include a son, Dr. James S. Wood Ellen E. Wood, 92, of Amarillo died Thursday, Jan. 19, 2006. Mrs. Wood was married for 67 years to John Wood when he died in 2002. She was a member of Central Church of Christ for 65 years. She was a homemaker and operated Mamaw Wood's Playhouse, a child care service in her home for 15 years. She was preceded in death by three grandchildren, Barry and Bruce Wood and Samuel Jones. She worked as office manager for Amarillo physician Dr. Yeager for many years. Mrs. Roy was a member of the United Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi Texas Nu Masters Chapter and was a longtime member of the Northwest Texas Hospital Auxiliary. She married Glenn Charles Roy on March 31, 1951, in Roswell, N.M. He preceded her in death on May 21, 1993. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Kay Phelps on Oct. 14, 1989, in Lubbock. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Lonnie and Ronni Hillin of Victoria; four grandchildren, Lance Phelps and DaNay Phelps of Lubbock, Chris Hillin and Brent Hillin of Victoria; and a great-grandson, Landon Phelps of Lubbock. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in The Church of Christ at the Colonies with Dick Marcear officiating. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Swan was born June 26, 1921, in Jackson County, Tenn., to Charlie and Maude Swan. He was the oldest of nine children. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II on the Destroyer Escort 398 in the South Pacific as a pharmacist mate. After the war Mr. Swan returned to Tennessee and attended David Lipscomb University in Nashville, graduating in 1949 with BS in Business Administration. While at Lipscomb he met and married his classmate, Jane Duncan, of Dickson, Tenn. They celebrated their 57th anniversary in 2005. In 1949 he began a career with Tenneco Oil Co. that lasted 37 years. He retired as the Safety and Environmental Manager of the Oil Company in Houston. Throughout his life he was an avid golfer and a member of the Church of Christ, worshiping locally with The Church of Christ at the Colonies. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; and one brother. Survivors include his wife, Jane Swan of Amarillo; four daughters, Linda Davis of Mount Juliet, Tenn., Jan Swan Allison of Amarillo, Susan Beckman of Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and Sandra Stoner of Anchorage, Alaska; a son, Stephen Swan of Bakersfield, Calif.; five sisters, Ruth Yankee of Nashville, Tenn., Estelle Spivey of Gainesboro, Tenn., Ina Neal of Lebanon, Tenn., Mary Curfman and Ann Davidson Mantus, both of Nashville, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. The last school he attended was Caprock High School. He worked three years in ministry work in San Antonio with the Victory Outreach Church under Freddie Garcia. Mario worked at various construction jobs. Mario was loved by all the people he met. His greatest gift was his smile and all who knew him well, called him "Cowboy." He will be missed by all his family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Charles G. Salazar Sr. in September 1973. McIntosh was born Oct. 10, 1949, to Dewey McIntosh and Maggie Fields in Big Creek, Ky. Mr. McIntosh worked at Ascarco Refinery for 30 years and was a loving son, brother, father and grandfather. James loved to spend countless hours restoring old vehicles to their original beauty. He was preceded in death by both parents; a brother; a sister; and a son.
