"Buddy" Butts Marshall W. "Buddy" Butts, 64, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. He was known as "Fluff" to his many friends, and was a generous man with a big heart. Buddy was preceded in death by his mother and father, Cora and Jake Butts. Survivors include two brothers, Charles and Anthony; two sons, John and Joey; and a granddaughter, Ashley. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 50433, Amarillo, TX 79159. She taught art in Dalhart and Pampa for many years and received many awards for her artwork, including the Artists of the Southwest Show in Amarillo. Burial will be Monday in West Park Cemetery with no services. Mrs. Warren was born Sept. 8, 1926, in Winters to Frances Urban and Amzie Peterson. She married Edward W. Warren in 1946 in Hale Center. They moved to Hereford in 1970 from Amarillo. LaVerne was a member of Temple Baptist Church and she was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Survivors include her husband of Hereford: a son, Chris Warren and wife Barbara of Amarillo; three sisters, Margie Kelly and Doris Cagle of Texas and Francis Day of New Mexico; two grandchildren, Adam and Mark Warren; and two great-grandchildren, Ian and Caroline Warren. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in First Baptist Church in Tulia with the Rev. Charles Davenport, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Arrangements are by Kornerstone Funeral Directors in Tulia. Dorothy was born Dec. 31, 1943, in Tulia, the daughter of Van and Erlene Barbour. She attended Tulia schools, graduating from Tulia High School in 1962 and Draughon's Business College of Amarillo in 1963. She married Pat Timmons on Dec. 13, 1963. She spent many years in public services, first as secretary to the City Manager of Tulia from 1967 to 1970. She then moved to Coppell, where she was City Secretary for the city of Coppell from 1972 to 1974. In 1974 Dorothy moved to Edinburg, where she worked for the Association of City- County Economic Development of Hidalgo County. She then returned to Coppell, again serving as City Secretary from 1977 to 1998. Dorothy was nominated to the Who's Who of American Women in 1975 and 1976. She was preceded in death by her husband, Patrick Walker Timmons in 1968; and her father, Van Earl Barbour in 1987. Survivors include two sons, Gregory Blake Timmons of Fort Worth and Patrick Noble Timmons of Lockhart; six grandchildren, Patrick, Brittany, Christopher, Clyde, Quincy and Mattea; her mother, Erlene Barbour of Tulia; three sisters, Jean Richards of Decatur, Jimmie Estes of Silverton and Kathy Lust of Lubbock; two brothers, Ed Barbour of Sunray and Steve Barbour of Haskell; a sister-in- law, Loretta Keisling of Dumas; and many beloved nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thomas Rich Conyers PORT ORFORD, ORE. - Thomas Rich Conyers, 73, died Friday, Jan. 6, 2006. A celebration of life will be Sunday, Feb. 19, in Mr. Conyers home. Arrangements are by Port Orford Funeral Service. Thomas was born May 30, 1932, in LaJunta, Colo., to father, Bonnie F. Conyers, and mother, Ruth Marie Conyers. He grew up in Canadian, Texas, where he was the second Eagle Scout in county history. He graduated from the University of Texas with a bachelor of arts degree. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1971, and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars. Thomas earned additional degrees in his 19-year tenure as a naval officer, including his MSEd from Old Dominion University, and a PhD in particle physics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he taught one year of physics at the University of Texas and 24 years of chemistry and physics at Indian River High School in Chesapeake, Va. Thomas was an instructor/principal on the Southwest Travel Study Program for 11 years. He was a member of Disciples of Christ and an elder of the First Christian Church of Norfolk, Va. He was a founding member of the Tidewater Aquarium Society, as well as a charter member of the National Museum of the American Indian. He was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Sarah Jane Chapman, in 1997; a brother, Ray Warren Conyers in 1948; and a sister, Raeanne Hazel Conyers in 1974. Survivors include his wife, Roberta Schoenhals Vignal of Port Orford; a brother, Edwin Ross Conyers; a sister, Mary Lou Wiebe; his children, Kathleen Anne Weaver, Mary Belinda Scaffo and Thomas Ford Conyers; and seven grandchildren.
