Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley with the Rev. Bryan Knowles, retired Baptist minister of Clarendon, officiating. Arrangements are by Robertson Funeral Directors of Clarendon. Mr. Hill was born Aug. 2, 1935, in Hedley and was a resident of Fritch before moving to Amarillo 32 years ago. He married Hazel Younger Myers in 1973 in Hedley. He farmed and was in the grocery business before becoming employed by Affiliated Foods and retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Amarillo and First United Methodist Church of Hedley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence Noel and Blanche Irene Leach Hill; his wife in 1998; and a brother, Jimmy Hill in 2004. Survivors include two stepdaughters, Vanessa Bell and Pam Drum, both of Lubbock; a stepson, Maurice Myers of Amarillo; three sons, Billy Hill of Amarillo, Bobby Hill of Sunray and Tommy Hill of Albuquerque, N.M.; his stepmother, Merle Hill of Sunray; two sisters, Janiece Guffee of Floydada and Claudine Keisling of Sunray; two brothers, Mike Hill and Max Hill, both of Sunray; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Interstate 40. Juan was born in Clovis, N.M., and was a longtime Amarillo resident. He worked as a laborer in construction and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Juan lived an adventurous life traveling throughout the United States and Mexico, making many friends along the way. He will be missed by all who love and know him. His beloved pet was his cat, Butterfly, who was at his side for 20 years and preceded him in death by one week. Survivors include three sisters, Lucia N. Alonzo, Emma Luera and Martha N. Ramirez, all of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Leola Elizabeth Peters Leola Elizabeth Peters, 89, of Amarillo died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006. Mrs. Peters was born in Tabor, Idaho, on July 1, 1916, to Harry and Martha Buchholtz Kluesner. She graduated valedictorian from Moreland Idaho High School. She married Joseph T. Peters in 1936. They moved from Idaho to Hereford in 1947, where they farmed and shipped vegetables. Leola worked as the bookkeeper for the family business. In 1955, she began a real estate career that lasted more than 30 years. In Hereford, she worked at Carthel Real Estate as the office manager and broker. In 1975, she relocated to Amarillo and continued her work at First Equity Real Estate for six years. She was a member of the Million Dollar Sales Club. Leola was a woman of great faith and compassion. She shared her vision of faith and gave her family a strong belief in God. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a beloved member of St. Mary's Catholic Church for many years and participated in the People of Praise and in the Blessed Sacrament Prayer Group. She delighted in her large and ever growing family and made each family member and each friend feel deeply loved and understood. In promise of heaven, she joins her late husband, Joseph T. Peters; her only sibling, Urban Kluesner; and a granddaughter, Amanda Peters. Survivors include three daughters, Mary Jo Monroe and husband Allen of Amarillo, Judy Swirczynski and husband Cliff of Dallas and Susan Bubeck and husband Fred of Sugar Land; five sons, Dr. Terry H. Mr. Cordell was born Feb. 24, 1919, the son of Harold and Mamie Jefferies Cordell. He married Jimmie Morgan on Dec. 26, 1941, in Altus, Okla. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery in Memphis by Hughs Funeral Home. Ms. Bowman was born Jan. 12, 1942, in Childress to Lee Brown and Polly Kerr Brown. She moved with her family to Memphis in 1946. She graduated from Memphis High School in 1960. Ms. Bowman worked for 23 years for the Memphis Independent School District as the payroll clerk. She retired from the school district in May 2005. She currently worked as the secretary at Hughs Funeral Home in Memphis. She was previously active in the Ophelia Club in Estelline and was a member of First United Methodist Church in Memphis. Survivors include her parents, Lee and Polly Brown of Memphis; a daughter, Rhonda Collinsworth of Memphis; a son, Carl D. Burial will follow in Plainview Memorial Park by Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview. Mr. Rogers was born Jan. 24, 1925, in Hale Center to Luther and Ruth Rowland Rogers. He grew up in the Plainview area and farmed until World War II. During the war he served in the 42nd Infantry Rainbow Division. He went through France, Germany and Austria in the Battle of the Bulge. He was also involved in the Liberation of Dachau Concentration Camp. Gordon married Jo Ann Harvey on Nov. 8, 1949, in Clovis, N.M. He owned and operated Rogers Texaco from 1951 until he retired in 1990. He is a member of Pastor's Class and of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Rogers of Plainview; two sons, Ronny Rogers and wife Jill of Amarillo and Glenn and Shelda Rogers of Plainview; three grandchildren, Brandy Wilson and husband Russell, Chesna Rogers and Luke Rogers; and a great-grandaughter, Sydney Wilson. They lived in Hereford, where they farmed for many years before moving to Dalhart in 1968. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and worked in the nursery for a very long time. Angie was an avid gardener, she enjoyed yard work and family. The eldest of 12 children, she always spoke fondly of helping raise her brothers and sisters. Angie was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother; and three sisters. Bobby was employed by Owens Corning for 22 years, retiring in 2001. He has lived in Randall County for 27 years.
