Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Washington Avenue Christian Church with Jimmy Reese officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Rowe Cemetery in Hedley. Mrs. Martin was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Hedley, was raised there and was a 1945 graduate of Hedley High School. She was a resident of Amarillo since 1952. She married Tommy Dean Tate in 1946 in Hedley. He passed away in 1960. She married Bill Martin in 1964 in Claude. She worked for Coca-Cola in Amarillo for more than 10 years. She was a member of Washington Avenue Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Bill Martin of Amarillo; a son, David Tate and wife Judy of Amarillo; a granddaughter, Jill Figures of Amarillo; a great- granddaughter, Lexi Figures of Amarillo; a sister, Mattie Laura Hill of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donna Stone Eason Donna Stone Eason, 48, of Amarillo died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2006. Services will be at 11 a.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with Don Stone officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Cox Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Donna was born Aug. 8, 1957, in Lubbock and lived in Amarillo most of her life. She was a 1975 graduate of Caprock High School. She married Harold Eason in 2003 in Amarillo. She worked for the city of Amarillo in the Parks and Recreation Department. Donna was an active supporter of Cal Farley's Boys Ranch and Girls Town. She was a loving wife, daughter, grandmother and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Richardson; her father, Norman Stone; and a grandson, James Gabriel Rivers. Survivors include her husband, Harold Eason; two daughters, Amber Michie and Jemie Eason, both of Amarillo; a son, Dustin Rhoades of Amarillo; her mother, Lucy Stone of Clinton, Okla.; a sister, Debbie Stone of Amarillo; and three granddaughters. She was a very devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She was married to the love of her life for 58 years, his "sugar plum." Services will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum Chapel with the Rev. Robert Field officiating with military rites provided by Fort Hood Army Base. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Hawbaker was born in Sullivan, Ill., and was a resident of Amarillo since 1961. He was the owner and operator of Hawbaker's Auction for many years. Mr. Hawbaker served with the U.S. Army during World War II, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. He served in France, Rhineland and Central Europe. His medals included a Purple Heart, EAME Theatre Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, and a Bronze Star. Mr. Hawbaker married Betty Jenkins on July 28, 1946, in Decatur, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Hawbaker; two brothers, Paul and Verl Hawbaker; and a sister, Lorraine Hawbaker. Survivors include his loving wife, Betty; two daughters, Kathy Tully and husband John and Judy Carlson, all of Amarillo; a sister, Betty Myers of Decatur; six grandchildren, Kelly Ellis, Tracy Davis, Michael Price, Jamie Carlson, Denny Carlson and wife Lyn and Casey Tully and wife Heather; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Miller was born April 3, 1929, in Amarillo to Robert F. and Margaret McMillen. She was raised in Amarillo and remained active in the community throughout her life. Among the many boards that she served on were the Llano Cemetery Board of Directors and the Amarillo Ambulance Advisory Committee, where she served as the vice chair. She was co-founder of the High Plains Epilepsy Association. She served as a Randall County Election Judge for 25 years. A survivor of polio in the 1950s, she continued to support the eradication of polio, and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow by the Rotary Foundation for her efforts. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of the Confederacy. She was an organizing regent of the Colonial Dames. She was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Margaret was a loving wife, mother and friend. She always opened her heart and her home to others and she was loved by all who knew her. She leaves behind her husband and the love of her life for 53 years, Robert S. Miller. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Smyer was born in Jamaica, N.Y., to Francis and Ann Moebius Williams. She married Ron Smyer on March 8, 1969, in Hallandale, Fla. The family moved to Amarillo in 1975. Mrs. Smyer was the secretary and school administrator of St. Mary's Catholic School for 20 years. She was proud to be a member of the Professional Secretarial Association. In addition to working at the school, she spent countless hours volunteering both at the school and church. Henry was born Nov. 29, 1913, in Antelope to Henson and Mary Miller Dawdy. She moved to the Panhandle area in 1921, attended Happy High School and graduated from Plainview High School. She married O.O. Henry at Canyon in 1933, and they farmed in Randall County for several years before moving to Canyon. She was employed by CISD, West Texas State University and Panhandle- Plains Historical Museum. She was a member of the Sunnyhill Home Demonstration Club and First Baptist Church of Canyon. She was preceded in death by her husband; and a son, James Henry. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Dalhart by Morrison Funeral Directors. Mrs. Beall was born Jan. 9, 1937, in Pampa. She moved to Pampa in 1998. She was a member of and a very active volunteer in First Baptist Church of Dumas. Her involvement in the church included: Preschool 4 Sunday school Director/Teacher, adult choir member, children's choir helper, Care Connection prayer list coordinator, youth mission trips, church office volunteer, Singles Ministry, Discipleship classes, children's committee, volunteer with the food pantry and active in the Outreach Ministry. She worked for the U.S. Navy in Washington, D.C., for 41 years. She was a volunteer for the gift shop at Memorial Hospital in Dumas and a very active volunteer at the Dumas Animal Shelter. She was vice president of the Moore County Humane Society. She was a longtime member and past Matron of Dumas Chapter No. 653 Order of the Eastern Star. Juanita attended school in Stratford and a business school in Omaha, Neb. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Dumas with Dr. Lane Boyd, pastor of Polk Street United Methodist Church of Amarillo, and the Rev. Beth Harrington, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Dumas, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mr. Kerns was born Dec. 29, 1937, in Kansas City, Mo. He moved to Amarillo in 1948 and attended Amarillo schools. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1955. He attended Texas Tech University and received his B.S. degree in chemical engineering in 1961. He married Cora Jo Lilly in First Presbyterian Church in Amarillo in 1960. The couple moved to Dumas following college graduation where Mr. Kerns began work as a junior engineer in the plant laboratory at Shamrock Oil and Gas McKee Refinery, northeast of Dumas. Moving to process engineering, he rose through the ranks to become plant manager of the refinery in the mid-'80s. Later he was promoted to Vice President of Diamond Shamrock McKee plant. In 1997 he was transferred to San Antonio, where he became Vice President of Refinery Operations for Ultramar Diamond Shamrock. He served in this capacity until his retirement in December 2001. He took great joy in his job and the people with whom he worked, particularly the many young engineers he mentored and help to train as they began their careers. He was a member of the National Petroleum Refiners Association for many years and chaired the Manufacturing Committee. He was a member of the Dumas Lions Club and the Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis Edwin and Grace Lillian Kerns. Survivors include his wife, Cora Jo; three sons, Dr. Brent and Julie Kerns of Tyler, Carter Kerns of Charleston, S.C., and Hung and Maria Tran of Lake Jackson.; two sisters, Mrs. Carolyn Conklin of Amarillo and Mrs. Mary Mauth of Oak Harbor, Wash.; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Kendall, Quinton and Logan Kerns of Tyler and Michelle, Allison and David Tran of Lake Jackson. Layman Jr. HEREFORD - C.L. Layman Jr., 67, died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2006. Celebration of life services will be at 2 p.m. today in Temple Baptist Church with the Rev. Kyle Streun, the Rev. Layman Sr. He served in the Navy and aboard the USS Ticonderoga from 1959 to 1962. C.L. married Juna Mae Armstrong on Sept. 25, 1964, in Dimmitt. He began working for the Texas Highway Department in 1964 in Hereford. C.L. moved to Channing in 1986 to serve as the Highway Foreman for the department and retained that position until his retirement after 32 years of service in 1996. C.L. served as an RA teacher and was a member and a deacon at Temple Baptist Church as well as coaching many Little League teams in Hereford. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Tony and Richard Layman; and a sister, Iris Layman Minnis.
