Services will be at 10 a.m. today in Blackburn-Shaw Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street, with Dr. Dana Moore of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Vergie Mae Jackson was born Nov. 22, 1914, in Ellis County, Okla., to George and Bessie Cronister. She married Alfred Jackson on Sept. 28, 1935. He preceded her in death in 1996. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Mrs. Jackson was a homemaker. Survivors include a daughter, Linda Wheeler of Amarillo; a sister, Dora Williams of Amarillo; grandchildren, Cindy and Gary Clements of Vega and Rob and April Denny of Willcox, Ariz.; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Veliz was born Sept. 9, 1933, in Anahuac, Nuevo Leon, Mexico. He moved to Dilley in 1990 from Hereford. He owned and operated Veliz Trucking and Veliz Garage in Hereford. He married Janie Carmona in Mexico. Survivors include his wife; five sons, Humberto Veliz Jr. I and Andy Veliz, both of Amarillo, Ruperto Veliz of Phoenix and Noe Veliz and Humberto Veliz Jr. II, both of Dallas; two daughters, Connie Tobar and Hilda Vazquez, both of Dallas; nine sisters; two brothers; 16 grandchildren; and six great- grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Donald Lee Perkins Donald Lee Perkins, 68, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006. Mr. Perkins was born Aug. 30, 1937, in Oklahoma City, and lived in Amarillo all his life. He attended Amarillo High School and was a veteran of the Navy. He married Peggy Fondren in 1990 in Amarillo. He owned and operated ACME Heating and Air. He was very active with Alcoholics Anonymous in Amarillo and had the opportunity to serve as a mentor to many others fighting alcoholism. He loved riding his motorcycle and was a Harley-Davidson fan. He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Lee Perkins. Survivors include his wife, Peggy Perkins of Amarillo; a son, Britt Perkins of Houston; his mother, Chloene Perkins of Amarillo; a brother, Kenneth Perkins of Amarillo; and a granddaughter, Katlyn Perkins of Houston. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Area Bradley Scott Herrington PLAINVIEW - Bradley Scott Herrington, 43, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2006. Mr. Herrington was born Feb. 15, 1962, to Eddie Joe Herrington and Ella Sue Moore Herrington in Plainview. Mrs. Hoover was born April 3, 1908, in No Man's Land, near Gray, Okla., and lived in the area all her life. She was a farmer, a member of First Christian Church and a charter member of Wolf Creek Daughters of the American Revolution. She was preceded in death by her parents, Milton and Blanche Lovett Todd; her husband, Ed Hoover; two sisters, Blanche Marxsen and Mildred Cowan; and a brother, Jack Todd. Survivors include two sisters, Alta Wood of Amarillo and Lois Hershey of Coffeyville, Kan.; a brother, Milton Todd of Amarillo; 16 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. Ruth Ann Lomax McKay was born June 6, 1910, to Matthew and Carrie Filmore Lomax in Eddy. She departed this life on Feb. 6, 2006, in the presence of six of her beloved children. Her husband, three sons and a daughter preceded her in death. Mr. Murillo was born March 19, 1914, in Mexico, the son of Julio and Lazzara Murillo. He was a retired farmer and carpenter. Mr. Murillo married Genoveva Otero on May 26, 1937, in Rodriguez, Mexico. She preceded him in death in 1989. Survivors include six sons, Jose V. Murillo of Laredo, Juan M. She was a member of ABWA and served as president and was named Woman of the Year in 1981. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Estelle Hancock Foster; and a granddaughter, Teri Beth Hensler.
