She was a faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church. He attended schools in Miami. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving in World War II. He married Helen Allen on Feb. 9, 1947, in Oswego, Kan. He moved to Canadian in November 1951 from Cardin, Okla. He worked for the Highway Department for 10 years and the Canadian Mill. He also worked as a roustabout and for King Well Service for 12 years. He was a member of Abundant Life Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Rae Ann Foster, on April 3, 1984. She graduated from Central View High School. She married James Doyle Doughten on May 5, 1941. She was a member of the Silver Notes Choir and the Sanctuary Choir. She was also a member of the Sweet Adelines Choir. She worked in food service at the Panhandle Independent School District, the Amarillo Air Force Base and Veterans Hospital. She was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and of the Sunday School Class Esther. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Doyle Doughten on Jan. 20, 1990; two brothers, Jim Bob Wilhelm and Rice Wilhelm; and a sister Rema Wilkins. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with James Baker, elder, officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Martin was born March 8, 1944, in Amarillo. He attended Amarillo High School and graduated with the class of 1962. He started working at the Amarillo Packing Co. and worked for the U.S. Postal Service until 1977. After that he went to work doing what he enjoyed the most, buying and selling cars. During his career at Dupriest Acura as sales manager, they were awarded the number one used car company in the country. At the time of his death he was a wholesaler for Autos Unlimited. He started the Nose Classic golf tournament in 1987. Former players associated with the tournament and now members of the PGA tour include Chad Campbell, Ryan Palmer, Judd Burkett and Tye Cox. Raymond always said that the Nose Classic was a stepping stone to the PGA. He will truly be missed by all of those who shared his passion for the game. All those who knew him and loved him will surely miss the Nose. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Clay in 1970 and Essie May in 1986. He moved to Pampa when he was 1 year old and lived there until he was 26 years old. He graduated from West Texas State University in Canyon in 1966. He married his lovely wife and best friend, Lou, better known as "Lou Baby" on May 1, 1980. Ron was an insurance agent in Amarillo since 1967 and then later became owner of Ron Mullins Insurance Agency. He was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Thomas Michael Mullins. He was a busy volunteer, serving in the Cliffside Fire Department, 55 Alive driving instructor and helping seniors do their income taxes with AARP. Mr. Helton was born Oct. 22, 1925, in Wheeler. He was a member of Jenkins United Methodist Church. He was in the farming/dairy business for 27 years and a member of the Dairymen's Association. He and LaVerne managed a self-storage in Glen Heights for 11 years and retired in 2004. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Helton and his mother, Lorena Cunningham Helton. Kennedy, 76, died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. today in City of Lubbock Cemetery. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. in White Funeral Home Memorial Chapel. Rex P. Kennedy, Ph.D. of Lubbock, departed from this life on Feb. 19, 2006, at the age of 76. He was born Nov. 17, 1929, in Muleshoe to William Gordon Kennedy and Ola Rosalind Page. Rex attended grammar school at Muleshoe and the family ultimately settled in Grady, N.M., where he graduated from high school. He moved to Lubbock to attend Texas Tech where he graduated in 1956 with a B.S. in vocational agriculture. He taught high school Ag in Canadian for two years before pursuing graduate school. It was during this time that Rex married LaVonta "Bunny" Watson. Their wedding was in Houston on Dec. 28, 1957. He earned graduate degrees in agriculture economics from Texas A&M University: a master of science in 1962 and a Ph.D. in 1970. He honored our country by serving in the Navy on the USS T.E. Chandler during the Korean War. Rex was a professor of Ag Economics and Director of Farm Operations at Texas Tech from 1967 until his retirement in 1994. He served as President of the Society of Farm and Ranch Managers and Appraisers; he was also a member of the Texas Tech Century Club and the Texas Cattlemen's Association. Rex was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, William Gordon Kennedy Jr.; and a granddaughter, Katie Annetta Kennedy. Sign the online guest book at www.whitefuneralhome.com. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ralph Neely NAPLES, FLA. - Ralph Neely, 91, of Cashiers, N.C., and Bonita Springs, Fla., died Sunday, Feb. 19, 2006. There will be no services. He had held leading roles in the business, political and civic life of Oklahoma City. Mr. Neely was born in Amarillo and attended public schools there. He was the son of Roscoe C. and Gertrude Murrell Neely. He graduated from the University of Texas in 1936 and joined an Oklahoma City insurance agency, eventually becoming a partner, then president. After Pearl Harbor, he entered the Navy as an ensign, serving until January 1946, when he came home as a full lieutenant. He served in the Pacific Theater, commanding a minesweeper in the Aleutian Islands, then in the South Pacific for the major battles of the Pacific war, including Tarawa, Okinawa and Iwo Jima. In the 1950s and '60s he served as president of the National Association of Fire and Casualty Underwriters and of the National Association of Surety Bond Producers. In the mid-'60s, he and a small group took over the remnants of a bankrupt company and built it into Doric Corp., a diversified industrial holding company. He was Chairman and Chief Executive Officer when it was listed on the New York Stock Exchange. In the early 1970s, it was sold to Esmark Inc. During his business career, Mr. Neely was also active in Oklahoma civic affairs. He was president of the Oklahoma City Rotary Club in 1955-56 and district governor of Rotary in 1960-61, and served on several national committees of Rotary International after that. Mr. Neely also worked in politics, although usually in the background. In 1956 he was a delegate to the Democratic National Convention, and was the sole Oklahoma delegate to vote for John F. Kennedy as the vice-presidential nominee. When Doric Corp. was sold, Mr. Neely devoted his time to personal business and civic interests. Privately, he lent personal support to many causes and persons who sought his aid. In the mid-1970s, he and his wife, Virginia Gaylord Neely, moved to the mountains of North Carolina, later adding a residence in Florida. He was preceded in death by a sister, Marjorie Smith of Hereford; and a brother, R.C. Neely Jr. of Amarillo, Survivors include his wife of 55 years; their children, Paul Neely of Chattanooga, Tenn., Gaylord Neely of New York, N.Y., Ralph Scott Neely of Woodway, Wash., Edward Kirk Neely, M.D. and wife Holly Myers of Portola Valley, Calif., and Jack Hardin Neely and wife Margaret of Tulsa, Okla.; a son by a previous marriage, Philip Neely and wife Alice Galloway of Tualatin, Ore.; 14 grandchildren; a brother, Murrell Neely of Lockhart; and numerous members of the Neely family in West Texas. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Wednesday, February 22, 2006 Services Services Pending Allen L.
