Memorial services will be at 3:30 p.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories, 6969 E. Interstate 40, with the Rev. Craig Holcomb officiating. Gloria was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Brooklyn, N.Y. She married Leo Boland on May 5, 1950. Mrs. Boland was an active member of North Amarillo Lions Club, was a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Jack Weisch Fellow, as well as a member of the Norwegian Society. She was a straightforward woman with a tremendous sense of humor. She was generous to a fault and will be missed by anyone who knew her. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Boland, in June 2001. Survivors include two daughters, Joanne Lucid and husband Ron of Trinity, Ala., and Briget Stephens of Amarillo; a son, Pete Boland and wife Cheryl of Buffalo, Mo.; four grandchildren, Keith, Shawn and Aaron Boland, all of Buffalo, and Shelby Stephens of Amarillo; and five grandcats of Trinity. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Glen Walton of Bell Avenue Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Sonny Brown was born March 30, 1929, in Big Spring to E.H. and Ruth Brown. The family moved to Amarillo in the early 1940s. He attended Horace Mann and Amarillo High School, where he met his wife, Jackye Henderson. They were married in October 1950. She was 19, he was 21, and they have had 56 years of love and joy together. Sonny was self-employed. Sonny's greatest enjoyments in retirement were his grandchildren and playing golf with friends. He always had a great sense of humor. What came first with Sonny was his love of the Lord, family and friends. He was a loyal and true friend. Sonny was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother. We will love and miss him always. He was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Jackye Brown; two daughters, Pamela Hetrick and husband Cal of Amarillo and Jann Wallace and husband Gary of Spring; a son, Shane Brown and wife Debbie of Amarillo; a brother, Bob Brown and wife Dannie and nieces, Carol and Kim, all of Bullhead City, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Aubrey, Andrea, Erica, Austin and Dusty; and many relatives and friends. Smith Wayland E. Smith, 82, of Amarillo died Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in St. Paul United Methodist Church with the Rev. Perry Hunsaker, associate pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Smith was born April 10, 1923, in Cocke County, Tenn. He was a member of the Lions Club and an active member of First United Methodist Church when he lived in Hereford. He moved to Amarillo in 1992. He was an avid skeet shooter and bird hunter. He served in the U.S. Army and had received the Purple Heart and the combat infantryman's badge during World War II. Wayland married Helen Smith on June 24, 1945, in Summerfield. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a daughter, Vivian Suzanne and husband Dale Collier of South Lake; and two granddaughters, Amy Gabrielle and Jennifer Lynn Collier of South Lake. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Miles William O'Loughlin III Miles William O'Loughlin III, 59, of Amarillo died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in First United Methodist Church in Pampa with John Curry officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery by Carmichael- Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mr. O'Loughlin was born Aug. 26, 1946, to Miles and Inez O'Loughlin. He was reared in Miami and graduated from Miami High School in 1964. Despite being involved in a car accident and breaking his back in February 1964, he graduated in May of that year. Miles graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois in 1970 with a BA degree in English. In December 1970, his son, Dennis, was born. While teaching English at the University of Texas, he was awarded an MA degree in English and then a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the University of Texas. In 1978, Miles became General Counsel for West Texas State University in Canyon. In August of 1980, Miles and Leslie Wilson were married in White Deer. In 1981, Miles moved to Fort Worth to work for a law firm. He returned to Amarillo in 1983 to become an independent oil producer. In 1989, Miles became the co-owner and manager of WO Operating Co. in Pampa. Miles was the chairman of the Texas Rehabilitation Commission for many years. He was a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Beta Lambda and the Panhandle Producers and Royalty Owners Association. Miles was also a partner in Pampans for Progress, and co-owner of the AmericInn, which will be opening in March in Pampa. Miles was a great philanthropist. He supported the United Way, Clarendon College Pampa Branch, Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, Boy Scouts, University of Texas and University of Illinois scholarship programs, Special Olympics, the performing arts and countless other organizations. Miles was the watchdog for the little guy. He gave legal advice freely to countless people. He was an amazing man who overcame great obstacles to be successful and an inspiration to many. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his wife, Leslie O'Loughlin; a son, Dennis O'Loughlin and wife Cindy of Aloha, Ore.; a granddaughter, Katie O'Loughlin of Aloha; a sister-in-law, Aimee Martin of Amarillo; and in-laws, Bob and Billie Wilson of Wichita Falls and Betty Wilson of Amarillo. Hughes St. Dorothy Lee "Dot" Murkeldove was born Aug. 20, 1931, in Brazos County to Dock and Cecile Henderson. She married P.L. Murkeldove on Jan. 26, 1952, and the family moved to Amarillo in 1957. She held numerous jobs in Amarillo and retired from Dr. Robert Gerald in 2002 after 15 years of employment. She was a member of New Light Ministries for 20 years. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Willie and Curtis Henderson; and three sisters, Lillew, Gladys and Fannie Henderson. Survivors include her husband, P.L. Murkeldove; five sons, Roscoe A. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Woodrow was born April 22, 1912, in Leon County to Roy O. and Eula Vestal Yarbrough. He grew up in Turkey. He married Margaret Graham on Jan. 1, 1938, in Amarillo. He retired from Graham Plow Co. and Pantex. His retirement years were kept busy doing what he loved; serving his church in many ways including the busing ministry project, being a board member and an officer of his Sunday school class, working on various projects at his church; constantly lending a helping hand to anyone who needed assistance in various and many ways, raising his vegetable garden and working on his daughter and son-in-law's farm. He also was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church for more than 62 years and was a member of the Wesley Commrades Sunday school class. Woodrow was preceded in death by four brothers, Alvis, Glen, James and Louis; and a sister, Grace Turner. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Janice Cranmer and husband Walter of Canyon; a son, Mark Yarbrough and wife Sandy of Amarillo; a brother, Delton Yarbrough of Fort Stockton; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Buhrman was born July 11, 1914, in Crowder, Okla. She married Russell Buhrman on July 20, 1933, in Portales, N.M. He preceded her in death in 1981. She lived in Oklahoma and Colorado before moving to Muleshoe in 1928. She worked for Bailey County Electric for 17 years and loved to paint and decorate cakes. She was a member of the Methodist Church in the Y L Community. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Emmet and Carie Beller. Bertie Mae Robertson, surrounded by her family, met her Lord on Feb. 22, 2006. She was born April 18, 1933, in Hardeman County. She moved to the Slaton area as an infant and attended Slaton schools. Bertie Mae Lamb married Leo Earl Robertson on Nov. 15, 1947, in Tahoka. Their family was a farming family. She and Leo had lived in the Posey community prior to moving to Smyer in 1954 and to Plainview in 1975. She was a member of Plainview First Baptist Church. Jones, 67, formerly of Amarillo and Pampa, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 12, 2006. Services were in Bogey Hills Baptist Church by Buchholz Mortuaries. Burial with military rites was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Mr. Jones grew up in Beaumont, Texas, where he was born to Iva and Iona Jones. He married Jerri Jennings of Amarillo, Texas, in 1966 and lived in Pampa, Texas, until transferred by Cabot Corp. in 1980 to St. Louis. He attended Lamar Tech, Maryville University and earned a master's degree in MIS at Lindenwood University. He was also employed by McDonnell Douglas/Boeing and K-B Toys. He was a man of strong faith and dedication to his church, where he was involved in numerous ministries, including Sunday school director, teacher, Men's Brotherhood and youth director. He also worked in Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and Toastmasters International. He was a proud Marine and a loving, devoted family man.
