Bowers PAMPA - Warren W. Bowers, 86, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. C. W. Parker, chaplain of Odyssey Health Care, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Mr. Bowers was born Dec. 13, 1919, in Okmulgee, Okla., to Frank and Rella Mae Bowers. In 1948, he married Violet Lucille Barton, and they were former members of Zion Lutheran Church. Survivors include four stepchildren; many stepgrandchildren, including Lana Blocker of Pampa, who was the eldest grandchild remaining closest to him; and many stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Stephens was born Feb. 18, 1919, in Moyers, Okla., to Mr. John Fenton Skaggs and Mrs. Hattie Plunkett Skaggs. She married John William Stephens on Oct. 8, 1938, in Memphis. York FRITCH - Herbert C. York, 76, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006, in Amarillo. Mr. Parr was a retired farmer. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Baskett was born Sept. 4, 1919, on the farm in Ford County, Kan., to Edward and Ila Butler. After graduating from high school, she started her nurse's training at St. Anthony's Hospital in Dodge City, Kan. After her training she joined the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Solace Hospital Ship during World War II. After being discharged she worked at the VA Hospital in Amarillo as a nurse for 30 years before retiring in 1976. She married Earl Baskett on Oct. 12, 1950. He preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 1987. Mrs. Baskett was a member of The Church at Quail Creek San Jacinto Baptist. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Maynard Butler and Clarence Butler; two sisters, Ada Arnold and Blanch Woestman; and a nephew Larry Butler. Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Leona Butler of Offerle, Kan., and Bertha Baskett of Panhandle; a brother-in-law, Glenn Baskett and wife Faye of Amarillo; two nephews, Scott Butler and wife Marilyn of Offerle, Kan., and Wayne Butler and wife Kelly of Shawnee, Kan.; four nieces, Doris Rutledge and husband Avery of Offerle, Pearl Kinney of Dallas, Clara Arnold of Arkansas and Mary Rodriguez of New Mexico; and many other nieces and nephews and friends. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Campsey was born Dec. 23, 1947, in Brownwood to Raymond and Aileene Rice. She moved to Amarillo in 1959 from Brownwood, and then to Fritch in 1996. She was a floral designer for Boston Greenhouse for six years. She was also a foster parent. She was preceded in death by her parents. Survivors include her husband, James H. Campsey of Fritch; five sons, David McCarty of Amarillo, Denny Allen of Colorado, Clayton Campsey of Fritch, Jerry Campsey, Carl Campsey and Kenneth Campsey, all of Amarillo; three daughters, Holly Casida and DeeDee Jones, both of Fritch, and Twila Perry of Amarillo; four brothers, Spence Wood of Colorado, Ron Wood of Waxahachie, Paul Thomas of Houston and Jack Thomas of Amarillo; a sister, Quilla Dondlinger of Amarillo; four grandchildren, DeLeon, Brent, Bryan, and Bailey; two great-grandchildren, Tyler and Eonna Raine; and several nieces and nephews. She attended Southern Methodist University and Rollins College in Winter Park, Fla. She was a sustaining member of The Junior League of Amarillo. She was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Fatheree, in 2002. Survivors include a son, Birke Burnett Marsh of Amarillo; a daughter, Brianna Cobb and husband Brian of Amarillo, a son, Jim Fatheree and wife Richelle of Bethesda, Md.; six grandsons, Jacob Cobb, Judson Cobb, and Cade Cobb, all of Amarillo, and Evan Fatheree, Jackson Fatheree and Holden Fatheree of Bethesda; two brothers, Jim Corbin of Amarillo and Ben Cornelius of Kennett Square, Pa.; and a sister, Mary Jo Mitton of Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with Darren Hutchinson, grandson, officiating. Mrs. Hertel was born June 27, 1923, in Henderson, Ky., was raised there and was a resident of Amarillo for more than 50 years. She married Robert Hertel in 1952 in Henderson. He passed away in 2002. She was a member of the Eastern Star and loved working with arts and crafts. She was a homemaker and loved being "Grandma" to her grandchildren. She was a Baptist. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Lawlis; a sister, Mary Taylor; and two brothers, James Gibson and Rudolf Gibson. "Jack" Rives Bennie M. "Jack" Rives, 96, of Amarillo died Thursday, Feb. 23, 2006. He married Maudean McDonald on Dec. 8, 1934, in Hemphill County. He was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. In 1945 they moved to Amarillo from Twitty. He was self-employed, working in the maintenance industry. He was a member of the Amarillo Senior Citizens Association. He loved to play dominoes and cards; he will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his wife in 1980. Survivors include special friends, Glenda and Melvin Rose of Amarillo; a niece, Evelyn Bryson of Longview; a nephew, Sam Bryson of Pasadena; and many friends. Scott was born Sept. 25, 1961, in Abilene and lived in Amarillo most of his life. He was a 1980 graduate of Caprock High School. He attended West Texas A&M University. He worked for Amarillo Country Club for 15 years before going to work for Baptist Family Services. Scott loved the outdoors, fishing and going to sporting events with his dad. Mrs. Southard was born Feb. 4, 1940, in Memphis, and graduated from Dumas High School in 1958. After graduation she moved to Amarillo and married Jim Kinslow in 1966. He preceded her in death in 1992. She married Thornton Southward on Feb. 22, 2000. Beverly's smile was as bright as the Tarra Lingual Skies and will be missed by all who knew her. He married Freida Bomar on April 11, 1942, in Tucumcari. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force for three and a half years. He worked as a concrete inspector for the Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation for 40 years, retiring in 1978. After retiring, he worked at Handy Dan Hardware Store for 10 years and retired from there in 1988. He was a member of Bell Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include his wife, Freida; two daughters, Gayle Hankins and husband Eddie and Judy Newton and husband Lanny, all of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Scott Hankins and wife Melanie and Tracy Hankins, all of Edmond, Okla., Kristy Lefevre and husband Billy of Lockney, Aleisha Newton of Abilene and Zachary Newton of Amarillo; and two great-grandsons, Hunter Lefevre and Zane Hankins. He moved to Amarillo in 1957 from McLean. He married Peggy Pope in 1982 in Amarillo. He worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone for 40 years before retiring in 1995. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife. He loved the mountains and going to the horse races. He loved being "Grandpa" to his grandchildren.
