Services will be at 10:30 a.m. today in Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with the Rev. F. M. Byford officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Funeral Home Cemetery, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mrs. McCain was born in Trenton and was a resident of Amarillo since 1947. She was retired from the Amarillo Independent School District. She was a member of Paramount Baptist Church. The former Jean Fleming, she married Henry Wayman McCain on Oct. 10, 1947, in Plainview. She was preceded in death by her husband on March 11, 1988. Survivors include a daughter, Kela Short and husband Chuck of Amarillo; a stepdaughter, Billie Joyce Young of Canyon; a stepson, Glen McCain and wife Rowena of Canyon; two sisters, Ruth Omhart and husband Harold of Bonham and Alene Thompson and husband John of Missoula, Mont.; 11 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Frankie Velasquez Frankie Velasquez, 49, of Amarillo died Monday, March 6, 2006. Rosary was said at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Angel Funeral Home Chapel. Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. today at Our Lady Of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Survivors include two daughters, Franchesca Velasquez of Rock Springs and Felicia Velasquez of Amarillo; a son, Toby Velasquez of Amarillo; his father, Apolonio Velasquez; his mother, Mary Floyd; three brothers, Apolonio Velasquez Jr. of Amarillo, Martin Velasquez and Jody Velasquez, both of Amarillo; four sisters, Diana Garcia, Josie Guajardo, Elizabeth Garza and Rosemary Velasquez , all of Amarillo. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ruby N. Vaughn Ruby N. Vaughn, 91, of Amarillo died Monday, March 6, 2006. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Howard K. Batson, pastor, Dr. Winfred Moore, pastor emeritus, and the Rev. B.L. Davis, retired pastor and former director of the Amarillo Baptist Association, officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Vaughn was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Reed, Okla., to J.C. and Pearl Moseley. She married Cleo Vaughn on Oct. 19, 1935. On Oct. 19, 2005, Paul Harvey's news broadcast told of the Vaughns' 70th wedding anniversary on all six continents. Mrs. Vaughn lived in Amarillo for 66 years. She helped her husband for four years in establishing Vaughn Plumbing Company. She had a great heart toward evangelistic missions as a girl. She and her husband worked in the Industrial City Mission out of Pierce Street Baptist Church in Amarillo for 10 years. Mrs. Vaughn and her husband continued with their mission work at Buchanan Street Baptist, Roberts Street Mission and Friendship Baptist and were co- founders of Highland Baptist Church in Amarillo. Mrs. Vaughn superintended several vacation Bible schools each summer in Amarillo. In their later years, they worked with the First Baptist Church of Amarillo Singles' Department and Marriage Enrichment Program. God granted her a long and useful life in His service. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include her husband; a son, Joe Vaughn of Amarillo; three grandchildren, David Vaughn, Barry Vaughn and wife Myra, all of Amarillo, and Melante Silva and husband Antonio of Denver, Colo.; four great-grandchildren, Melissa Bowyer, Christi DeBusk, Robert Vaughn and Stephen Vaughn; and three great-grandchildren, Brennan, Hudson and Aubrey. Burial will be in Northlawn Memorial Gardens by Morrison Funeral Directors of Dumas. Mrs. Jones was born April 16, 1944, in Shamrock. She resided in Dumas since 1965. Survivors include her husband, Bobby Jones; two brothers, Royce Powell of Dumas and Doug Powell of Victor, Iowa; and a sister, Shirley Ann Chamberlain of Dumas. Sullivan SPEARMAN - John L. Sullivan, 66, died Monday, March 6, 2006. Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Mr. Sullivan was born in Douglas, Wyo., on June 7, 1939, to Edith L. and Lester L. Sullivan. He married Elva Contreras on June 25, 1964, in Spearman. He was a farmer for Chalmers Porter for 22 years. Mr. Sullivan belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Spearman. He received a Million Mile Award and was in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lester "Jiggs" Sullivan and Eldon J. Sullivan; and two sisters, Patricia Schnell and Chlorie L. Sullivan. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ivonne Hermosilio of Perryton and Cathy Hitt of Tyler; two sons, Lester L. Sullivan of San Antonio and Lester L.
