Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors of Canyon and Happy. Mrs. McDonald was born May 9, 1933, to Amos and Jettie Jo Dansby Ratjen in Randall County. She graduated from Happy High School in 1951. Joan married Reed McDonald on Sept. 5, 1952, outside of Tulia. She was an employee at First State Bank in Happy as a computer operator and teller. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she served as a fifth- and sixth-grade Sunday school teacher for 25 years. She was also the church treasurer for seven years and an assistant for many years. Joan served as an officer in Order of Eastern Star, Women's Study Club, WMU and Happy Senior Citizens. She was a lifetime resident of Happy. She enjoyed raising her family and being a housewife. Emmett was born March 7 at Northwest Texas Healthcare System, where he was diagnosed with Potter's Syndrome, a fatal kidney condition. He passed peacefully into eternity 10 hours after his birth. He and his wife, Ruth, had been married for 40 years. Mr. Thomas was an avid amateur photographer and a member of Irwin Road Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mrs. Jones was born June 11, 1909, in Waterbury, Vt., to George E. May and Josephine Nichols May. The May family came to Amarillo in 1926. Ellen played trumpet in the original Amarillo Philharmonic Orchestra.She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1927 and was a member of the first class when Amarillo College was founded.Their classes were upstairs in the Amarillo City Auditorium at Third and Buchanan. Ellen married C. Owsley Jones on Nov. 15, 1930.Ellen was the business manager and played her trumpet in the Melody Maids, an all-girl orchestra, which was famous in the tri-state area during the 1930s. After attending Amarillo Secretarial School, she was clerk/secretary for the Potter County Ration Board during World War II and then for Chancellor Weymouth until she and C.O. moved to Dallas in 1952, where she was the executive secretary for the Regional Office of State Farm Insurance. After she retired from State Farm in 1974, they moved back home to Amarillo, where she became involved in genealogical research and was an active member and officer of many heritage and genealogical organizations, including Amarillo Colony Mayflower Descendants, Daniel Wing Chapter Colonial Dames of the Seventeenth Century, Arredondo Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution, Alibates Chapter Daughters of the American Colonists, Daughters of the Founders and Patriots, Colonial Dames of Royal Descent, Panhandle Colony Magna Charta Dames and Barons and Amarillo Genealogical Society. She was preceded in death by her husband on May 11, 1990, after almost 60 years of marriage, and a sister, Geraldine May Kalokowski, also in 1990. Survivors include a brother, George N. She graduated from Amarillo High School. She was an operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She retired after 30 years of service. Miss Whitney was a member of the Telephone Pioneer Service Organization and the Communication Workers of America Local 6128. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Charles Whitney. Mr. Main passed peacefully into the arms of our Savior, Tuesday, March 7, after a courageous 21-month battle with brain cancer. Troy was born in Amarillo on April 17, 1964, and graduated from Caprock High School. He married his best friend and the love of his life, Tonya Haley, on Aug. 24, 1985. Troy spent 18 years in the BSA landscape department doing what he did best - making everything around him more beautiful. Troy, a man of faith, was a member of Amarillo South Body of Christ Church. Troy loved his children with all his heart and measured his wealth in the time he spent with them. He cherished being their number one fan at their many great soccer games, bonding around a campfire or playing cards at the kitchen table. He had an unfailing love for his family and for life that could be seen in his ever- present smile and constant sparkle in his beautiful brown eyes! The cancer may have crippled him, eventually taking him, but it never crippled his spirit! The families would like to extend a personal thank-you to Dr. Paul Hancock and Eric Palmer, Cindy Crawford, Dr. Jeffery Cone and Rich Jones, Dr. Donald Pratt and Cindy Simpson, Dr. Randy Hines, Dr. Richard Weiner and Michelle Fuller, Dr. Donald Schwarz and Alice Maier and to all the staff at BSA who took care of Troy along our journey that gave us 21 months to gather more precious memories. She lived in Lubbock for 15 years and graduated from Lubbock High School in 1941, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She married Farrell Odell Randle on Nov. 25, 1943, in Lubbock. She was a longtime telephone operator. She retired from Mesa Petroleum as a production records analyst. Dorothy was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church, where she was also in the Sonshiners Club-Senior Adults. Mr. Stubblefield was born Nov. 22, 1920, in Augusta, Ga., to Cecil L. Stubblefield and Eva Bargeron Stubblefield. He married Theo Jeanette Johnson on June 14, 1941. Box 277, Boise City, OK 73933. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Elsewhere Dorris Mell Gormley PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. - Dorris Mell Gormley, 95, died Friday, Feb. 24, 2006. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Feb. 28, in Faith Lutheran Church of North Palm Beach. Mrs. Gormley was born Feb. 22, 1911, in Farmington, Mo., to Peter Mell and Mathilda Blancken Mell. Dorris was the last survivor of their 11 children. She spent her early life in Farmington, where she attended Flat River Junior College and taught school briefly in Farmington before marrying Matthew William Gormley on May 26, 1934, and moving to Alton, Ill. Dorris became a mother and housewife. Matthew, a master carpenter, started and ran a successful cabinet, woodworking and office fixture business for more than 35 years. After establishing her family, Dorris became a cook and later became the manager of the Alton Public School Cafeteria system. She was president of the Illinois State School Cafeteria Managers Association in 1970 and was named their Member of the Year in 1975-1976. She retired in 1979, when she and her husband moved to Palm Beach Gardens. After their retirement in Florida, Dorris and her husband traveled extensively, visiting all 50 of the United States, most of Canada and Mexico, Central America and most of Europe. Dorris served as a "Pink Lady" in the hospital auxiliary of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center until January preceding her death, accumulating more than 14,500 hours of service and countless friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years on March 27, 1988, and a granddaughter, Gail Gormley. Survivors include two sons, James Mell Gormley and wife, Darlene, of Fort Meyers and Jerold William Gormley and wife, Nancy, of Amarillo, Texas; a daughter, Jane Ann Dahlmeier and husband, Fredrerick, of Singer Island; five grandchildren, including Kathryn Gormley Adams of Amarillo and Elizabeth Gormley Spangler of Denver; and four great-grandchildren, including Abbigayle, Benjamin and Andrew Adams, all of Amarillo.
