Bell St. Mrs. Pool was born in Crawford, Okla., and was a longtime resident of Groom. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Samuel Jobe Chennault was born April 26, 1917, in Amarillo to Jobe and Elizabeth Dunlap Chennault. Raised in Dalhart, Mr. Chennault graduated from Dalhart High School in 1934 and on Nov. 13, 1938, he married Cecile Stanley in Amarillo. She died on July 3, 2000. A Dalhart native, Sam went to work for the Rock Island Railroad in the early 40s and retired in the late 60s. He was a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church and the Rock Island Masonic Lodge. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother; and a sister. Mrs. Cooper was born May 4, 1913, in Vancouver, British Columbia, to George Richard Williams and Mary LaViolette Williams. She was a longtime Stratford resident. Ruth was married to Calvin F. Cooper of Denver and moved to Amarillo in the late '50s, where they operated a business in Pleasant Valley. She was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin; her parents; three sisters, including her twin; and two brothers. She was born June 22, 1927, in the Buck Creek Community in Collingsworth County to Mr. Robert Vernon Sweatt and Iola Bell Sweatt. She attended schools in King, Quail, Newlin and Estelline. She graduated from Estelline High School in 1943. After attending West Texas State Teacher's College, Mrs. Hughes taught school in Memphis, Lakeview, Turkey, Estelline and McLean, retiring in 1987. She married Nathan Hughes on June 4, 1949, in Childress. They lived in and near Newlin for many years. She moved to Childress in 1986 and lived briefly in Estelline in 2003. Mrs. Hughes lived the last two years of her life in nursing homes in Memphis and Decatur. She was a member of the Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband on July 14, 1976; and three brothers, Tom, Bob and John Warren. Joshua was a senior at Sunray High School and had been accepted at The Universal Technical Institute in Houston for automotive and diesel mechanics. After his completion there, he would transfer to Mooresville, N.C., to learn to work on race cars, where his goal and dream was to be involved in NASCAR. He enjoyed Ag Mechanics, FFA projects, working for Kerry Cartrite in his farming operations and for Garry Daffern Oilfield Services. He graduated from Pampa High School in 1949. He married Mary Coffee on June 5, 1949, in Pampa. She preceded him in death on Feb. 7, 1997. He later married Eunice Pauline Nash on Sept. 9, 1999, in Clovis, N.M. He was an insurance agent for Allstate Insurance Co. from 1959 until his retirement in 1986. He was a member and past master of the Pampa Masonic Lodge No. 966 AF&AM, and a member of the Knights Templar of Texas. He was a member of the Pampa Jaycees. He was a ham radio operator and a member of the Pampa Amateur Radio Club, call No. WB50TF. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kim Buzzard, in 1983. She lived in Amarillo all of her life. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1985. She earned her bachelor's and master's degrees from West Texas A&M University. Kimberly Jane taught school at River Road and Randall High School. She also taught Sunday school at Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Kimberly Jane loved her son and family. She was intelligent, dedicating her early adult life to her education and career. She had a lot to offer in the way of support to family and friends. She was strong and persevered through life's obstacles. She was generous, kind and a good listener. She will be remembered for her sweet voice and her willingness to make sacrifices for others. Georgia St. Mrs. Whitley was born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Fred and Martha Lazelle. She graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines. She married Donald Lee Whitley in 1975 in Albuquerque, N.M. Mrs. Whitley worked as a private-care nurse until her health prevented her from working. She previously worked at BSA in the rehabilitation department. Before entering the medical field, she worked in fashion at Katherine's Boutique and as the clothing merchandiser in the clothing department of Pier 1 Imports. Roxanne was the No. 1 fan of the Atlanta Braves. "Go Braves No. 25!" She also was a big fan of Judge Judy. Even before entering the medical profession, Roxanne made it her life's calling to care for those less fortunate or in need. She touched many lives and treated everyone as a special individual. In addition to caring for people, Roxanne cared for animals. She loved birds and had a passion for cats. She was preceded in death by a brother, John Lazelle. Arrangements are by Rector Funeral Home Coulter Chapel, 8310 Coulter St. Mr. Duke was born March 19, 1931, near Elk City, Okla., to James Walker and Opal Forgey Duke. After graduation from Reydon High School in Reydon, Okla., he was employed with Santa Fe Railway. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1950 to 1954. After his discharge, he worked for the Amarillo Fire Department, then at the Pantex Ordnance Plant while pursuing a social studies degree at West Texas State University. He earned a master's degree in education from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and enjoyed a teaching and coaching career in Texas Panhandle public schools including Allison, Hedley, Clarendon and Dalhart. In 1953, James married Madge Blanscet in Wheeler. They have three children, Kathleen Ann Rieken, John Walker Duke and Jamie Denise Duke. After his retirement in 1984, James studied and documented family genealogy. He and Madge also spent much of their time traveling in the United States and abroad, visiting such places as China and the former Soviet Bloc. James taught Sunday school for a number of years at Lakeview United Methodist Church in Dalhart, and currently is a member of the West Campus of Saint Stephen United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Billy Walker "Ike" Duke; and a sister, Oneta Duke Owen. Mrs. Hopkins was born in House, N.M., and lived most of her life in Amarillo. She was a graduate of the old Amarillo High School. Mrs. Hopkins and her husband owned and operated A&W Root Beer for 20 years. After that she worked for Clear Channel Radio for 30 years and planned to retire on March 3 of this year. She was a former member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Baptist St. Anthony's Hospital. She married Donald B. Hopkins on Oct. 9, 1954. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she was outreach leader, cheer leader and encourager for the Adult 6 Department. She was preceded in death by her husband on April 13, 1986; two sisters, Pauline Thompson and Edith Painter; and a brother, Eldred Morgan. Mr. Long was born Nov. 27, 1939, in Blanket to Thomas E. and Dollie Coffee Long. He married Brenda Scott on Sept. 1, 1981. Mr. Long was a man of many talents, first and foremost was family. He never met a stranger, his home was open to all people. Mr. Long will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Graham Yarbrough Margaret R. Graham Yarbrough, 88, of Amarillo died Friday, March 17, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery Mausoleum with the Rev. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Margaret was born June 9, 1917, in Quitaque to Joseph and Lucille Ross Graham. She married Woodrow W. Yarbrough on Jan. 1, 1938, in Amarillo. She worked for the J.C. Penney Co. for many years. The joys of Margaret's life were her husband, her children, grandchildren, neighbors, friends and her church. Every morning would begin with a long, brisk walk throughout her neighborhood where she'd encounter many neighbors with whom she'd take a moment to speak. She was an excellent home-style cook yet she also enjoyed trying new and challenging recipes. Her grandchildren will always remember her as an active part of their lives. She taught them to ride their bicycles, she made their favorite foods and she always took time to attend their games or school activities. In 1993, Margaret was honored by Quitaque as their Homecoming Queen during their biannual reunion. She was a member of San Jacinto United Methodist Church for more than 62 years where she was also a member of the Wesley Comrades Sunday School Class and sang in the choir. Always a good neighbor and friend, Margaret could be depended on to help out whenever needed. Margaret was preceded in death only three weeks ago by her beloved husband of more than 68 years, Woody, on Feb. 23, 2006. A sister, Frances Moore; and two brothers, Marcellus "Bo" Graham and Marcus Graham also preceded her in death. Survivors include a daughter, Janice Cranmer and husband Walter of Canyon; a son, Mark Yarbrough and wife Sandy of Amarillo; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Bobby was born April 28, 1948, in Wellington and was raised in Memphis. He was a 1967 graduate of Memphis High School. He married Sue Butzen in 1987 in Amarillo. He was a resident of Amarillo for more than 20 years. He was a master barber. He also worked for the Globe-News before going to work for Nationwide Insurance Co. Bobby was a member of the Choctaw Nation and was very proud of his heritage. He was a member of Kingswood United Methodist Church. Bobby was an avid golfer, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He touched many lives, and lived his own to the fullest. He never met a stranger. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Carroll, in 1994. She was a registered nurse for the past 42 years before her retirement in 2003, working as a private-duty nurse and a traveling nurse in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in cancer research. Born June 26, 1921, Clara was a daughter of Thomas Eugene and Ittalene Cottle Shelburne. She graduated from Hamlin High School in 1939 and married Cecil Sellers Dec. 26, 1941, in Hamlin. They owned and operated Cecil Sellers Cattle Co. in Hamlin until his death June 27, 2002. Clara was a member of First Baptist Church, the Faithful Sunday School Class, and the Glory Singers. She was a member of the Hamlin Ladies Auxiliary and Epsilon Chi Chapter of Beta Sigma Pi Sorority. Clara was a former Scout leader and loved working with the youth group at First Baptist Church. One brother, Delma Shelburne, preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Cecil L. Sellers Jr. of Lubbock and Charles T. Bobby was a Godly example of what a Christian man should be: loving, cordial, concerned, supportive, helpful, honest, trustworthy, dependable, generous, stable, steadfast, considerate, deliberate, dedicated, happy, thoughtful, enthusiastic, fun, outgoing, generous and tough as a boot, yet soft and tender and was unassuming. He will be missed by all of us who knew him and loved him; and forever be an example for us to appreciate what kind of person God would have us be.
