Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Lennie McKay of Paramount Terrace Christian Church officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Glen was born Nov. 27, 1912, in Cookeville, Tenn. He moved to Texas in 1949, and in 1950 married Betty Cumby. He worked for George Warner Seed Co. in Hereford and retired from Taylor Evans Seed Co. in Tulia in 1977. Survivors include three children, Charlotte Wagstaff of Lufkin, Glen Kuykendall Jr. and Tammy Riley, both of Amarillo; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The family suggests memorials be to The Building Fund, Paramount Terrace Christian Church, P.O. Box 7279, Amarillo, TX 79114. Vinyard, 82, formerly of Amarillo, died Tuesday, March 21, 2006, in Dallas. Masonic graveside services will be at 3:30 p.m. Friday in Llano Cemetery by San Jacinto Masonic Lodge 1330. Military rites will be provided by Fort Hood Army Base. Arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors Bell Avenue Chapel, 5400 S. Bell St. Mr. Vinyard was born in Webb City, Okla., and attended Amarillo High School. He worked for the Amarillo Daily News for 26 years and then for the Dallas Morning News as a printing pressman until retiring in 1986. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II and was stationed in the Philippines for two years. He received a Purple Heart for being wounded in 1943. Mr. Vinyard was a 50-year Life Member of San Jacinto Lodge 1330 in Amarillo, 15-year member of Metropolitan Lodge 1182 and served as past Master, was currently secretary and was past secretary of the Tannehill and Vickery Lodge. He was a 50-year member of the Shrine and was active in Shrine bowling, golfing and was a volunteer office worker. He was present secretary of the Dallas High Noon Club. He married Grace A. Smith on Nov. 10, 1946. Survivors include his wife; a son, Jack Vinyard Jr.; a daughter, Susan M. Steen and husband Wayne of Amarillo; sisters, Marjorie Franks and Greta Thibodeaux and husband Art of Amarillo; a brother, Gerald Smith and wife Bonnie of Borger; two grandsons, Richard and wife Toni and Michael and wife Sheri; five great-grandchildren; nieces, De'Ann Smith and family of Albuquerque, N.M., and Jimi Beth Metzger and family of Denver. Mrs. Morrison loved her home, church and children and spoiled and loved her grandchildren. Her family remembers her as the best mom anyone could have. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Don Morrison; her parents; four sisters; and two brothers. Survivors include two sons, Gregory Morrison and John Morrison; a daughter, Donna Burriss and husband Craig; a brother, Jeff Wilson; a sister, Betty Hughes; and four grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the High Plains Children's Home. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Area Forrest Milton Gumper DALHART - Forrest Milton Gumper, 82, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, in Amarillo Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, in Lakeview United Methodist Church with George Chambers, pastor of Lakeview United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Horizon Funeral Home. Forrest Milton Gumper was born near Stratford to Walter and Hulda Langendoerfer Gumper. He married Helen Garrett on Jan. 17, 1944, in Clayton, N.M. Forrest entered the armed forces in July 1944; he served in the 36th Infantry Division. He was in the European Theater from January 1945 to July 1946. In 1949 he took flying lessons and earned his pilot's license. In 1950 Forrest was called back to the armed forces during the Korean conflict. He was with the 950th Aviation Engineers at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., and Wolters Air Force Base in Mineral Wells. His family stayed with him at both locations. They returned to Dalhart in June 1952. Forrest and Helen owned the first coin-operated car wash in Dalhart and operated the Plains Garage. He was also a custom farmer and a member of Lakeview United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Helen Gumper of Dalhart; a son, Roger Phillip Gumper of Amarillo; two daughters, Charlca and husband David Morris of Georgetown and Melverta and her husband Brian Pahl of Liberty Hill; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Mildred and husband Calvin Ballinger of Lubbock, Gertrude Campbell of Amarillo, Herma and husband Cecil Porter of Pilot Grove, Mo., and Dorothy Walden of Eager, Ariz. She married Jasper McBride on June 6, 1938. He preceded her in death on March 12, 2005. She was a resident of Pampa for more than 50 years. She helped operate McBride Plumbing for more than 50 years, and she was a hospital volunteer for many years. She was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church. She loved to garden and travel all over the United States, and her favorite companion was her dog, Toby. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Carolyn Sue McBride. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home. Mrs. Waits was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Peaster, the daughter of John and Jourdie Wiggins. She married Manson Waits on Jan. 17, 1953, in Munday. Mrs. Waits received her teaching degree and went back to school and received a degree in medical technology. She was the lab supervisor for the Hereford Regional Medical Center for more than 30 years as well as a lab supervisor at other area hospitals. Mrs. Waits was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hereford. She was preceded in death by her husband; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include two sons, David Ralph Waits and wife Lisa of Texarkana and James Byron Waits of Dalhart; a brother, Dr. Kenneth Wiggins of Fort Worth; and three grandchildren. Mr. Hayes was born Oct. 24, 1930, in Bradenton, Ohio, to Homer and Myrtle Hayes. He retired from the Air Force after 30 years of service as a senior master sergeant.
