Mrs. Douglas was born May 15, 1933, in Sulphur Springs. She married Robert Douglas on March 7, 1950, in Shamrock. "Bulldog" Walker, 91, died Saturday, March 25, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe G. Jernigan, pastor of Calvary Christian Church in Shamrock, officiating. Burial will be in Zybach Cemetery in Zybach by Wright Funeral Home. Mr. Walker was born June 4, 1914, in Childress to George A. and Effie Mae Johnson Walker. They moved from Paducah to Wheeler County in the 1920s. He married Dorothy Lohberger on Sept. 13, 1936, in Miami. They moved to California, where he worked for the railroads, in 1937. They returned to the home place in Wheeler County in 1946. Mr. Walker was an insurance salesman for many years, where he was a member of the million dollar club. He also was in the oil and gas business and farming and ranching. He was a member of the Moose Lodge in Pampa, Masonic Lodge of Wheeler, where he was a 32nd Degree Mason, Kiva Temple of Amarillo and Scottish Rite of Freemasonry. He was preceded in death by a son, James Clifton Walker Sr. in 1997; two grandsons; a granddaughter; four sisters; and a brother. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Nancy Davis and husband, Charles, of Howardwick; a son, Bill Walker and wife, Kyla, of Briscoe; a brother, Alec Walker of Pine Grove, Calif.; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Brown Funeral Directors Chapel of the Fountains with Jeff Messer, chaplain, officiating. Burial will be in Highland Park Cemetery. Mrs. Hamilton was born Sept. 15, 1912, in Carlisle, Ark. Berline came to Borger in 1929 to marry Carl Thomas Hamilton, who was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. Carl and Berline were pioneers in Borger/Phillips amid the '30s rush to the oilfields and boomtown prosperity. They actively participated in the area's growth, surviving the black dust storms of the '30s. Berline was a charter member of First Baptist Church of Phillips, later known as Fairlanes Baptist Church in Bunavista. She had been a member of this same church for more than 70 years. Berline went to meet her Lord on March 25. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years in 1980, and her eldest daughter, Wanda Charlene Talley in 1990. Survivors include a brother, John Boyette of Little Rock, Ark.; a daughter, Jenny Johnston of Amarillo; a son, Charles Hamilton and wife, Carole, of Dallas; R.T. Talley of Borger; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Harold Don Johnston, Larry Talley, Randy Talley, Michael Finkel, Charles M. She married Ben Upchurch on April 3, 1948, in Amarillo. She was also a member of the Moose Lodge, Senior Singles of Pampa and Line Dancers of Pampa. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Joe Sells in 1982; her second husband, J.C. Strahan; a grandson, Ryan David Sells; a brother, Joe Pat Green; and her parents. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ - Wallace Lee "Wally" Haigood Wallace Lee "Wally" Haigood, 85, of Amarillo died Saturday, March 25, 2006. Services are pending with Rose Chapel Funeral Services of Cheyenne, Okla. Burial will be in Cheyenne Cemetery in Cheyenne. Local arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Haigood, the fifth child of Minnie Pearl James Haigood and Joseph Gordis Haigood, was born July 31, 1920, near Cheyenne. He was educated in the Cheyenne Public Schools before attending Cordell College in Cordell, Okla., where he met and then married Doshia Mae Bartlett on Feb. 20, 1941. During World War II, he worked for Douglas Aircraft in Oklahoma City before being called to service. He served with Gen. Bradley's Fifth Army Corps on their drive through Belgium and Northern France. Under PFC Haigood's leadership, his squad was responsible for the capture of Gen. Von Poppen, the replacement for Gen. Erwin Rommel. For his service he received the Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, with two Bronze Service Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Army of Occupation Medal with Germany Clasp, Combat Infantry Badge and the Honorable Service Lapel Pin. After discharge from the service, Mr. Haigood worked in the dry cleaning business in Snyder and Guymon, Okla., and Hereford. He was also a painting contractor which lead to his employment with the Veterans Administration Hospital in Amarillo in 1965. At the time of his retirement in October 1984, he was an assistant engineer supervising maintenance of heating and air conditioning for the entire facility. Soon after retirement, his wife, Doshia Mae, died on Nov. 27, 1984. Wally enjoyed his retirement. He was a conversationalist, striking up a conversation with anyone he met. In later years, he loved to talk about his military service and his "growing up years." He was instrumental in collecting information for a family history. He often bragged about how many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren he had. He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; three brothers, Clarence, Alva and Homer; and two sisters, Flora Haigood and Irma Loughlin. Survivors include a son, Joe Haigood, and wife, Loretha, of Amarillo; two daughters, Kay Larkey and Linda Prickett and husband, Norman, all of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ruby Maxon and husband, Bob, of Cashion, Okla.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Trussell was born Dec. 1, 1927, in Memphis to Terrell and Faye Townsend Trussell. He graduated from Clarendon High School. He worked for the city of Amarillo as manager of the data processing department. Mr. Trussell served with the Marines during World War II. He served on the board at Amarillo College and designed the college's computer science curriculum. Mr. Trussell was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved the outdoors. He also loved to read. He was preceded in death by a sister, Treva Nell Payne, and a brother, Jack Franklin Trussell. Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Liz Trussell, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Harris retired as a vocational agriculture teacher after 26 years of service and retired after 18 years of service from the Lubbock Appraisal Office. He took much pride and enjoyment in his work and friends he made. Upon retiring, he continued to enjoy his lifelong interest in antique collecting and especially enjoyed spending more time with family and grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife.
