Hamilton PLAINVIEW - Raymond A. Hamilton, 78, died Saturday, April 1, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Bartley Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Ron Huckeby, lay minister of Plainview, officiating. Burial will be in Plainview Memorial Park. Mr. Hamilton was born March 6, 1928, in Lee Creek, Ark. He married Jacqueline Jacobs on Dec. 24, 1947, in Van Buren, Ark. Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bill Hamilton of Woodward, Okla., and Larry Hamilton of Lubbock; and two grandchildren. ============================================================================== ===== Eula Mae Corbitt PLAINVIEW - Eula Mae Corbitt, 85, died Thursday, March 30, 2006. Mrs. Corbitt was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Plainview to Lawrence and Bertha Sheppard. She married Drennen Corbitt on Feb. 28, 1970, in Amarillo. Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Brenda Britten of Amarillo; two sons, Ronnie Hewitt of Memphis, Tenn., and Larry Hewitt of Austin; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ============================================================================== ===== Anna Ruppanner DALHART - Anna Ruppanner, 76, died Friday, March 31, 2006, in Midland. Services will be at 2 p.m. today in United Pentecostal Church with the Rev. Euell Watts, one of her former pastors, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Horizon Funeral Home. Mrs. Ruppanner was born Aug. 4, 1929, in Blackwell, Okla., to Edward and Laphenia Roper Stewart. Raised in Blackwell, Anna attended Southern Bible College in Milford. She married Ray Ruppanner on Sept. 11, 1949, in Dalhart. Anna's father started United Pentecostal Church in Dalhart, and she remained an active member, teaching Sunday school, playing the piano and serving on numerous committees. Mrs. Ruppanner was a member of the Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, Ladies Auxiliary of the U.T.U. and Dalhart PTA and did volunteer tax return preparation for the AARP. Anna worked for an orthodontist before going to work for Thompson Wholesale, where she worked for many years. She was preceded in death by a grandchild; her parents; two brothers; and three sisters. Survivors her husband, Ray Ruppanner of Amarillo; two sons: Jim Ruppanner and wife, Revice, of Amarillo and Donald Ruppanner and wife, Robin, of Midland; a daughter, Kay Ruppanner and Chris Moeller of St. Kitts, Virgin Isles; a brother, Josh Stewart of Chandler, Ariz.; two sisters, Joy Johnston of Denver and Catherine Claggett of Higbee, Mo.; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She had lived in Amarillo for 60 years. She married Howard Hughes in 1938 in Lubbock. He preceded her in death in 1983. She was retired from management of the Amarillo Civic Center after 25 years of service. Mrs. Hughes taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She taught VBS at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she was a charter member. Survivors include a daughter Joann Tatkenhorst and husband, Al, of Lubbock; a son, Tommy Hughes and wife, Deborah, of Campbell; two sisters, Mattie Sylvester of Weatherford, Okla., and Lucille Adams of Lubbock; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Jarnich was born Dec. 15, 1943, in Yonkers, N.Y., to John and Mary Lannen. She married John Jarnich on April 8, 1967, in Bronx, N.Y. Mrs. Jarnich graduated from New Paltz University in New York with a bachelor's degree in education and from Dowling College with a master's degree in English. She was an outstanding teacher for 28 years in elementary education in Bronx and at Emmanual Lutheran School in Patchogue, N.Y. She also taught piano, music and remedial reading and served as a board member of the Parent Teacher Association for many years. Lillian and her husband moved to Amarillo in 2004 to be near her family. She was an active member of numerous crafts clubs and adult education classes. Survivors include her husband; three sons, John Jarnich and Paul Jarnich and wife, Kristine, all of Amarillo, and Matthew Jarnich of New York City; and a grandson, Edward Jarnich. ============================================================================== ===== Willie Lee "Dunnie" Thomas Willie Lee "Dunnie" Thomas, 94, of Amarillo died Thursday, March 30, 2006. Services will be at 4 p.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy Wheeler officiating. Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Thomas was born Dec. 6, 1911, in Comanche County to Cora Ellen Castlebery Dunlap and Thomas Jefferson Dunlap. When Willie Lee was 2 years old, the family traveled by covered wagon to Fairview, on the south side of Palo Duro Canyon, and later moved to Wayside. At the age of 2 or 3, Willie Lee became sick and it was not until she was 13, after a trip to Kansas City with her mother by train, that she was diagnosed with polio. Willie Lee rode horseback to the one-room school with the help of her brothers and sisters in her younger years. In May 1931, she received her high school diploma from West Texas Teacher's College High School in Canyon. In the fall of 1931, she began attending the Northwest Texas Nurse Training School in Amarillo with financial help (a $50 loan) from the Whittenburg family. She graduated as a registered nurse in 1934. After graduation, she worked as a nurse at Northwest Texas Hospital, as well as working for Dr. Vaughn and helping Dr. George Waddell, who had just started his medical practice across the hall from Dr. Vaughn. On April 21, 1935, Dunnie (nickname for Dunlap) married Richard Ralph "Dick" Thomas in Amarillo. In 1942, Dunnie had an opportunity, with financial help from the Kiwanis Club, to go to Boston for two years where she attended and graduated from Harvard's Physical Therapy School. Beginning in February 1945, Dunnie gave up her professional career as a registered nurse and physical therapist to stay at home with her two children. Dunnie was a charter member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. She taught Sunday school classes for many years as well as spending many summers as the camp nurse at El Porvenir Christian Camp. The family wishes to thank the Juniper-2 staff at Ware Living Center for their love and care of Dunnie these past days, weeks and years. She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers; three sisters; and her husband. Survivors include a sister, Virginia Noe of Washington state; a son, Lewis Thomas and wife, Kathy, of Amarillo; a daughter, Shirley Thomas of Amarillo; a grandson, Neal Thomas and wife, Robin, of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; three great-grandchildren, Kayla, Trey and Lauren Thomas, all of Paradise Valley; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
