Burial will be in St. Anthony's Catholic Cemetery. Miss Cortinaz was born Dec. 18, 1957, in Ballinger to Domingo Cortinaz Sr. and Olivia Gonzales Cortinaz. She was employed by IBP Meat Packing for more than a year. Survivors include her mother of Hereford; four sisters, Janie Garcia, Mary Rodriguez and Susie Cortinaz Sena, all of Hereford, and Amelia Payan of Littlefield; and three brothers, Manuel Cortinaz of Mitchell, Neb., Domingo Cortinaz Jr. of Amarillo and Poncho Cortinaz of Hereford. ============================================================================== ===== Nova Wood Cary Darsey Nova Wood Cary Darsey, 85, of Amarillo, formerly of Muleshoe, died Saturday, April 8, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Ellis Funeral Home Chapel in Muleshoe with the Rev. Bennie Wright officiating. Burial will be in Muleshoe Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Darsey was born June 28, 1920, in Aberdeen to John A. and Eula Mae Wood. She married Dan Dale Darsey on Dec. 27, 1947, in Lubbock. He preceded her in death on May 20, 1965. Mrs. Darsey moved from Muleshoe to Amarillo in 1978. She was a member of Longview Baptist Church, where she was church treasurer and secretary. During World War II, she was the first woman jig builder at Northrup Aircraft Factory in Los Angeles. She was also preceded in death by her parents; five sisters; two brothers; and an infant son, Stephen Dale Darsey on June 4, 1951. Survivors include a son, John F. Cary of Texarkana; four daughters, Jackie Cary Bosserman and Kathryn Joyce Darsey Murray, both of Amarillo, Faustine Darsey Humphris of Midland and Karla Sue Darsey Shrake of Keller; two sisters, Geneva Bradley of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and Edna Seymore of Sudan; a brother, A.V. Creek VA Medical Center. Mr. Deaver was born March 22, 1924, in Greeley, Colo. He lived in Amarillo most of his life. After graduating from Amarillo High School, he served in the Navy during Word War II on the USS Mayo. He worked in the water department for the city of Amarillo and retired after 43 years of service. He married Kathleen "Pete" Rider in 1942 in Amarillo. He was a member of Aldersgate Sunday School Class at Kingswood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife in 2005; four brothers, Orville Deaver, Jack Deaver, Herbert Deaver and his twin brother, Bernard Deaver; and a sister, Genola Kensworthy. Mr. Brannon was born Sept. 9, 1939, in Colorado City to Charles and Maxine Brannon. He graduated from Portales High School in 1958. He married Shirley Ann Ingram on June 9, 1958, in Portales, N.M. He worked for Sam Sanders Gravel Pit before moving to Amarillo in 1966. Quincey worked for J. Lee Milligan for many years as a rock crusher foreman. He retired with the city of Amarillo as a heavy equipment operator. He loved his family very much and enjoyed the outdoors. He was preceded in death by his father in March 2006, and a sister, Merlene Brannon in 1947. Mrs. Kelley was born Dec. 2, 1919, in New York City. She enjoyed a career as a singer in New York before raising a family. She played the piano and the organ. She loved animals and was an avid amateur radio operator, W5ACQ, participating in the MARS military radio network relaying messages from our overseas Armed Forces to their families. In later life, she became an accomplished photographer, painter and sculptor. She was loved by her family and friends and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Kelley of Amarillo. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Northcutt passed away April 7, in Amarillo where she had resided at Park Place Towers for 18 years, and most recently at the Ware Living Center. Tula Owens was born Oct. 21, 1913, in Hedley to Ona Lea Boaz Owens and Will T. Owens. The family moved to Amarillo where she was educated, and in 1935 married Thomas D. Northcutt. She was actively involved in needlework clubs, PTA, Brownies, Girl Scouts and her first love, First Baptist Church activities. Following the rearing of her daughters, she became interested in the art of china painting. She studied with numerous teachers, becoming a recognized artist. She opened China by Tula in Wylie, conducting classes for many students and providing a retail outlet for unpainted china. She traveled throughout the state conducting seminars and lessons. Her "claim to fame" will continue in the many beautiful lamps she painted. She was a member of the International China Painting Teachers, China Painting Teachers of Texas, Porcelain Art Guild of Dallas, Houston Porcelain Art Club and the local porcelain art clubs. She was an active member in First Baptist Church for many years, having spent many hours working in the Family Life Center. The family wishes to acknowledge and thank her many friends at Park Place and personnel at Ware Living Center for the loving care she received. Also, they wish to acknowledge the personnel at the Ambassador Hotel and T.G.I. Friday's for their many kindnesses, concern and courtesies extended during our many visits here. Georgia St. Mr. Lemaster was born Sept. 15, 1924, in Amarillo and was raised here. He served in the Army during World War II. He married Charlie Lee Pinkley on July 16, 1946, in Amarillo. Mr. Lemaster owned and operated Lemaster Jewelry in Amarillo for more than 35 years. He was a charter member of the Lake Tanglewood Lions Club and was awarded Lions International Melvin Jones Fellow Award. He was also a former member of Lake Tanglewood Board of Directors Golf Association and a board member of Lake Tanglewood Community Church. He proudly volunteered for the Veterans Hospital. Mr. Lemaster was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Dee loved to share jokes and stories with friends and family. He had a great sense of humor and was a little ornery. He was a fine craftsman and made many beautiful pieces of jewelry for the people of the Panhandle. He was highly respected by customers and colleagues. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers of Vega. Mr. Pernell was born to Clyde and Lucille Pernell on Jan. 16, 1930, in Dickens County, where he lived until moving with his family to Vega in 1966. He was a farmer and retired from the Texas Highway Department after 26 years. He married Flora Lee Shaw on Nov. 3, 1955. They were married for 50 years. He was an avid fisherman and loved baseball. He played organized baseball and coached Little League in Vega for several years. He was a loving husband and devoted father. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Bobbie Boswell. She worked for many years in the different restaurants here as a cook and a waitress. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday in Fairview Cemetery in Pampa with Dr. Johnny Funderburg, pastor of First Baptist Church in Pampa, officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors of Pampa. Mrs. Pillers was born April 27, 1922, in Dalhart, to Edmund and Adgie Wilson. She attended schools in Wellington and graduated from Shamrock High School in Shamrock. She married Claude Pillers on June 9, 1940, in Sayre, Okla., and lived in Twitty for several years where her husband farmed. They moved to Lubbock in 1956, and during her lifetime, she lived in El Paso, Biloxi, Miss., and Pensacola, Fla., before returning to Lubbock with her husband in 1989. She was a member of Southcrest Baptist Church in Lubbock. She loved her home and her family and enjoyed gardening, fishing and reading. She was preceded in death by her husband on Dec. 21, 1999; her parents; two brothers; and a sister. Survivors include a son, Gary Pillers and wife, Paulette, of Lubbock; a daughter, Sherry Carlson and husband, Jerry, of Pampa; a sister, Claudia Smith of Dallas; a brother, Kenneth Wilson of Oklahoma City; three grandsons, Brent Pillers and wife, Pam, of Lubbock, Colby Pillers of Hilo, Hawaii, and Chris Carlson of Pampa; and two great-granddaughters, Clare and Audrey Pillers, both of Lubbock.
