Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Lisa Yvette Cherry-Dogan was born May 13, 1957, in Amarillo. She was a 1975 graduate of Palo Duro High School and was inducted into the 2005 PDHS Hall of Fame. She graduated from West Texas State University with a BS in mass communications. She married her beloved husband, Anthony Ray Dogan of Sugar Land, Texas, on June 24, 2000. She was the granddaughter of the late Nathaniel and Rubie Lee Cherry of Amarillo and George and Lillian Woods of Fort Worth. She was preceded in death by the following aunts and uncles, Synada "Mr. C." Cherry of Amarillo, Nathaniel Cherry Jr. of Fort Worth, Marvin Gene Cherry of Pittsburgh, and DeWitt Woods, Georgia M. Green and Lillie Pearl Simpkins, all of Fort Worth. Mrs. Cherry-Dogan was a veteran of the Amarillo Police Department. She was a member of the Amarillo Police Officers Association, Amarillo College Board of Regents, Amarillo Chamber of Commerce Board, YES 79107 Steering Committee, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority-Amarillo Alumnae Chapter, Junior League of Amarillo, American Cancer Society Board and Hope and Healing Board. She was named 2004 Beta Sigma Phi Woman of the Year and received the Communication and Leadership Award from the Amarillo Chapter of Toastmasters International. During that time she taught advanced biology to many students who are now successful in the medical profession. At the time of her retirement in 2003, she was teaching at Tascosa High School. Entombment will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery Mausoleum. Mrs. Lakner was born Dec. 28, 1919, in Simpson, Colo., and grew up on a ranch. She married Frank Lakner in 1940. After following Frank around the country during World War II and spending some time in Colorado, she and her family moved to the Texas Panhandle in 1954 near Dumas, where the family lived until 1967. She and the family moved to Amarillo in 1967 and became an early member of St. Stephen United Methodist Church. Mrs. Lakner enjoyed playing bridge, volunteering at St. Stephen and in her early life loved playing basketball. Dorothy remained an avid sports fan and enjoyed following the Houston Astros baseball team when she moved to Houston in 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Lakner; brothers, Lester Davidson, Walter Davidson, Charles Davidson and Theodore Davidson; and sisters, Ollie Rae and Juanita Grimsley. Survivors include a son, Randy Lakner of Houston; a daughter, Connie Taylor of San Antonio; grandchildren, Andrew Taylor, Jordan Lakner and Sophie Lakner; and a sister, Rachael Will of Pueblo, Colo. Sandra was born Nov. 23, 1950, to Willard and Iva Lou O'Neal in Amarillo. She worked as credit manager for the Amarillo Globe-News for 16 years before she retired in February 2002. While working at the Amarillo Globe-News she was involved in many community programs. She was a board member of the Maverick Boys Club and was a loaned executive and an account executive for United Way. She was a HOSTS tutor for Amarillo ISD, served on the Amarillo Globe-News In-House Committee for the United Way, and was the co-coordinator for the Empty Stocking Program for many years. She worked for Bealls Department Store in Westgate Mall after she retired. She was a very loving mother, grandmother and aunt. She was known as "Nana" to her grandchildren and "Sassa" to her great-nieces and great-nephew. She was preceded in death by both her parents; and a sister, Lynda K. Eddy. She was a former member of the Four Square Gospel Church and of the Fellowship Baptist Church. She worked for KMart for seven years. She loved to cook and was known for her family pies. She was an avid "Grand Ole Opry" fan. She loved spending time with her family and recalling memories of her youth, and she believed that friends made were friends for life. She was an avid collector of knickknacks. She was preceded in death by two sons, Monty Garmon in 1958 and Marcus Garmon in 1966; four brothers, Marcus J.C. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery by Brooks Funeral Directors. Irene was born June 25, 1922, in Plainview to Robert Custer and Mattie Daffern. She graduated from Plainview High School in 1940 and Lubbock Beauty School in 1941. She met and married Lt. Harry Allen Hardaway on May 22, 1943, in Plainview. They immediately moved to Pampa Air Force Base where Harry served as a flight instructor. After World War II they moved to Happy, where Irene became involved in many community activities. She served as president of PTA, Worthy Matron of OES, board member of the Methodist Church, RSVP, and was very active in Happy Senior Citizens. Irene was a fan of Happy High School athletics and enjoyed attending girls' basketball. The family is grateful to the staff at BSA Hospice and Life Enrichment and to the staff at Craig Methodist Retirement Center for their loving care. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Amarillo and she was active in the Youth Choir and Girls Auxiliary. Vikki was an administrative assistant for the District Court System in Amarillo and later in Houston. She enjoyed antiquing, gardening and music. She loved raising her daughter and spending time with her. Vikki was dearly loved by all of her family and friends and will be missed. She was preceded in death by her mother, Aillene Nelson; a brother, Rene' Nelson; and her father-in-law, Edward Holcomb. Survivors include her husband, Wesley Holcomb; a daughter, Courtney Anne Holcomb; her father, Delmar Nelson; a sister, Tanya Schubert and husband David; a niece and a nephew, Allison and Nelson Frech; and her mother-in-law, Faye Holcomb. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with Billy Rais of Midland officiating. Mary "Arlene" Treeby went to be with her Lord and Savior on April 8, 2006. Arlene was born Nov. 24, 1915, to James and Tilda Swanson Peck in Alexander, N.D., the only daughter of seven children. After a time of helping her brother in ministry, she met and married Dwight Lowell Treeby in 1935. The new couple began a lifelong ministry as ordained ministers of the Assemblies of God, pastoring and evangelizing in many locations in the Northwestern and Southwestern states. Arlene and Dwight settled in Odessa in 1977 and both continued their faithful service for the Lord. She was a strong and courageous woman who was not afraid to take on tasks that many women would be frightened to take on. Arlene was devoted to the care of her family and to her work for the Lord. She suffered the loss of her husband in 1999 and in 2003, relocated to New Orleans to spend time near her son, William D. Treeby and his family. Hurricane Katrina relocated Arlene once again to Denton, where she resided until her death at Lake Forrest Good Samaritan Village a few blocks from her daughter, Betty Copeland's, home. Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; and five brothers, Mervin, Wesley, David, Lawrence and Donald Peck. Survivors include a brother, John E. Peck of Edmonds, Wash.; two children, Betty Copeland of Denton and William D. Treeby of New Orleans; six grandchildren, Zelda Wilmoth, Janis Adkins, Rhonda Hare, Vance Harper Jonathan, Treeby and Patrick Treeby; 12 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and many, many friends.
