Mr. Soria was born Dec. 19, 1926, in Del Rio to Ricardo Soria and Micaela Rangel Soria. He married Delfina Carrillo on July 1, 1955, in Saragosa Coahuila, Mexico. He was a former longtime Dumas and Moore County resident and moved to Colorado in 1992. He served in the Army during the 1950s. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joan Lacey. Smith was raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High School in 1991. He married Kerry Kennedy in Amarillo on May 30, 1997. He graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science degree in political science and a Bachelor of Science in history. He received his Master of Science in financial planning and his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Texas Tech University in 2004. He enlisted and served in the Marine Corps from Jan. 6, 1992, to Jan. 6, 1998, attaining the rank of sergeant. On Sept. 11, 2005, he returned to active duty as a captain in the Army JAG Corps. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Grace Karen Smith of Amarillo; two sons, Samuel Vernon Smith and Benjamin Douglas Smith, both of Amarillo; a brother, Robert V. Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. today in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Bob Schroeder officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Patrick was born in Evansville, Ind., to Robert and Rhudelle Patrick. After serving in the Navy, he began his broadcast career with Marsh Media, which spanned 33 years. John served not only his country but his community by participating on various boards and committees. He was a teacher in many ways, and his advice was sought by friends, family and community leaders. John cherished the times he spent with his longtime friends pursuing their mutual love of hunting and spending time outdoors. He was the perfect Daddy and a fun and playful Papa to the grandchildren he cherished. As a husband, he was an encouraging and tender companion to his wife, Pat, whom he married on March 1, 1996. After taking retirement from KVII as general sales manager, he and Pat moved to Santa Fe, N.M., where for seven years they enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and company of new friends. They returned to Amarillo to be closer to family and friends in 2004. Harris Jr., 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, April 13, 2006. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Mr. Harris, our loving "husband, daddy, father-in-law, granddad and great-granddad" died Thursday, April 13. W.L. was born April 6, 1917, in Amarillo to William L. and Geneva Harris. He grew up working at his parents' grocery business located at 1623 S. Buchanan St. He was a 1935 graduate of Amarillo High School. For 38 years, W.L. worked as an engineer for the Santa Fe Railway in the Amarillo area and was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. From 1958 to 1966, he also operated Harris Paint and Hardware Store on south Buchanan. He married Evelyn Mincher on Sept. 26, 1937, in Tulia. They lived in Amarillo and were very proud of their 68 years of marriage. With Evelyn, W.L. was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher. Upon retirement from Santa Fe, W.L. and Evelyn built their summer home at Spanish Peaks, Colo. They dearly enjoyed their many summers together there with family and many good friends. We would like to give special thanks to the caring staff at BSA Hospice. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Virginia Ann.
