Katie was born Sept. 4, 1997, to David and Traci Nowell in Fort Worth. She was a very special girl, named after both of her grandmothers. A miracle child from the very beginning, Katie faced and overcame many complications at birth. Katie was a treasured second grader at South Georgia Elementary and Amarillo South Church. She had a great love for many things such as her family, singing, drawing, reading and playing on the monkey bars. Katie was full of life and touched the hearts of everyone she came in contact with. Mr. Hendrick was born Nov. 10, 1928, in Reed, Okla., and graduated from high school in Diamond, Mo. He served in the Navy as well as worked for the Texas National Guard for 13 years. He married Ruth McBrayer on Aug. 24, 1950, in Happy. They moved to Dalhart, where he worked for the ice company and was known as the "Ice Man." They moved to Amarillo in 1953. He worked for Southwestern Portland Cement Co. as the lead mechanic from 1964 until his retirement in 1988. After retirement, he taught himself woodworking. He filled his home, his children's homes and his friends' homes with beautiful furniture and other handmade wooden crafts. Most of all, he loved being "Grandpa" to his grandchildren and "Paw Paw" to his great-grandchildren. He was a member of Tenth Avenue United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, F.B. "Pappy" Hendrick and Bessie Lee "Happy" Hendrick Kutch. Amarillo Globe-News, April 23, 2006 ============================================================================ Margie Mayfield Ingham Scott Margie Mayfield Ingham Scott, 88, formerly of Amarillo, died Friday, April 14, 2006, in Centennial, Colo. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo. A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the sanctuary of Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo with the Rev. Marty Hamrick and the Rev. Renae Haiduk officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mrs. Scott, in her 89th year, died Friday, April 14, in Centennial, where she had moved, six weeks earlier, to live with her grandson and his family. Margie Mayfield Ingham Scott was born Sept. 6, 1917, in the Ingham family home in Texhoma, to Andy Young and Rela Vaughan Ingham. Margie was the last surviving child of six. In 1935, she married the late Peter Mark Scott of Brownwood. He died April 25, 1981. Margie was born, baptized and married in the Ingham home in Texhoma. Margie and Mark moved into their newly built home in Amarillo in 1949. She attended Daniel Baker College in Brownwood and West Texas State Teachers College in Canyon, studying violin and training to be a medical laboratory technician. She was employed by the city medical labs in both Lubbock and Amarillo. She spent most of her career working in Amarillo, working for the late W.A. Potter, M.D. and later, for Lloyd H. Hudson, M.D. The last years prior to her retirement, she was an instructor in a school training medical technicians and medical secretaries. Scott was the great-niece of pioneer Texas cattleman, Charles Goodnight, who was a frequent visitor to the Ingham family home during her childhood. Mrs. Scott was an accomplished seamstress. She enjoyed painting in watercolors as well as extensive work in needlepoint. Her mother was a well-known Panhandle artist. She loved classical music and was a regular patron of many local music events. She passed on her love of classical music to both of her children, who are accomplished musicians. She was an affiliate member of the Amarillo Chapter of the American Guild of Organists and had been a docent at the Amarillo Museum of Art. She was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church in Amarillo. Margie Scott's memorial service will take place on the 25th anniversary of her husband's death. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981, and a granddaughter, Margie Shirleene Thomas of Lakewood, Colo., in 2001. Survivors include a daughter, Lillian Sue Scott and husband, Ken Thomas, of Lakewood; a son, Peter Mark Scott II of Fort Worth; and a grandson, John K.
