Private burial will be in Llano Cemetery East by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mr. Hinders served in the U.S. Army. He worked for his brother at Panhandle Artificial Limb Co. for several years before going to work for Maywood. Survivors include two sisters, Catherine Prichard of Pocahontas, Ark., and Nonnie Mackey of Fritch; and two brothers, John Hinders of Amarillo and Gerald Hinders of Eureka, Mo. Hughes St. Mr. Mathis was born May 29, 1921, in James. He attended public schools in Upshur County and Barber College in Houston. He retired from Pantex in 1986 and was also a retired barber. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Brenda Graham Alambar was born Sept. 29, 1969, in Pampa. Brenda attended Pampa schools and graduated in 1988. She was a member of the "Pride of Pampa Band." Brenda earned a bachelor's degree from West Texas State University in 1993. She married Alex Alambar on Nov. 24, 1993. She was a member of Amarillo South Church. Brenda was a special education teacher and had worked for Amarillo Public Schools and for E.C.I. Brenda was pursuing her master's degree at West Texas University up until the time of her illness. She was preceded in death by her father, Gary Graham. Survivors include her husband, Alex; a daughter, Amie Alambar of Amarillo; her parents, Elaine and Richard Elliff of Pampa; a sister, Theresa Briscoe of Casper, Wyo.; a stepbrother, Matt Elliff of Amarillo; a stepsister, Lee Harrell of Amarillo; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Local arrangements are by Schooler-Gordon Funeral Directors. Anna Killham, know to many as "Grandma," was born April 16, 1907, in Little Rock, Ark. She was considered a treasure by all who met her. She was a homemaker who was a loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed quilting and telling stories and had a wonderful fondness for the outdoors, especially playing golf. Her always positive attitude toward life was her greatest attribute. We will miss her. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Killham. Survivors include a daughter, Evelyn King of Amarillo; a son, John Killham of Denver; six grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and numerous friends. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday in Lockney Cemetery. Edna May Corder Hoggins was born March 11, 1917, in Lockney to J. T. "Tollie" and Sarah Nall Corder. Her family moved to Tulia when she was 3 months old. She was baptized in the summer of 1927 at the age of 10 and was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ. She was a graduate of Tulia High School and married Ludie Lee Hoggins on Aug. 20, 1937, in Tulia. She retired from Mid-Plains Rural Telephone Co-op in Tulia, but also worked at First National Bank in Tulia for several years. She was also an accomplished seamstress and tailored for the public. She moved to Amarillo in 1999. She enjoyed doing crochet and embroidery and was known for her gardening expertise. Family was very important to her and she will be remembered for taking in young family members for varying periods of time as her own. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1982; two brothers, Fred and Joel Corder; and three sisters, Mary Tate, Lera Jackson deVries and Winnie Marie Siedenstrang. Survivors include a son, James T. Adrian was born and lived all of his life in Amarillo. He was a first-grader at Gene Howe Elementary School. He loved to draw, play with Teen Titans, Barbies and his Game Boy. Brown, 86, of Amarillo died Tuesday, May 9, 2006. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with Dr. Murray Gossett of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Burial will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Mr. Brown was born in Bassett, Ark., to Robert Joseph and Veloda Mae Brown on May 20, 1919. After completing high school, he entered into the United States Navy and began a 21-year military career. Mr. Brown was a survivor of the USS Lexington (CV2) in the battle of the Coral Sea and was awarded the Navy Cross. The secretary of the navy wrote the following about Mr. Brown: "His courageous conduct and strict devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service." Upon returning stateside, he married the love of his life, Joy Hughen, in Joiner, Ark., in 1942. After his marriage, he continued his military career until retiring and beginning a career with the Department of Energy that spanned 24 years. At the DOE, he worked as an inspector. One of the highlights of his career was accepting on behalf of the United States government the thermoelectric power source that Apollo 12 carried to the moon as part of the ALSEP, Advanced Lunar Surface Experiments Package. In 1983, he retired from the DOE and enjoyed the time with his family and close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and three brothers. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen B. Fielder and husband Richard of De Soto and Beth A. Winstead and husband Dwayne of Ovilla; a son, David R. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery. Bill was born on Feb. 24, 1942, in Neenah, Wis. He grew up as a dairy farmer, traveling to numerous towns in Wisconsin. It was there that he met his wife, Pamela, while attending high school. Bill was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. He enjoyed listening to country music, his favorite song being "Daddy's Hands." He had a great sense of humor and enjoyed playing jokes on everyone. He also had a great appreciation for the Salvation Army. Bill was blessed with many caring relatives and extended family. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today in Cox Funeral Home Benton Chapel, 4180 Canyon Drive, with LaVon Thompson, pastor of Life of Praise Fellowship, officiating. Diane was born Theresa Diane Plogger on Aug. 27, 1954, in Roswell, N.M., to Bill and Maydell Plogger. She graduated from Roswell High School in 1972 and moved Amarillo in 1985. She married Keith Ratliff in Amarillo on Dec. 19, 1992. She worked for Burger King for four years and has worked in the food service industry for many years. Diane was a kind and loving person to everyone. Family members say they never heard her say an unkind word. She enjoyed making hooked rugs and loved to listen to gospel and country music. And she loved the Lord Jesus Christ with all her heart. She was preceded in death by her parents in 1960; and a brother, Jimmy Plogger. Survivors include her husband; and numerous friends and relatives. ============================================================== William Raleigh "Billy" White Jr. William Raleigh "Billy" White Jr., 45, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 10, 2006. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Boxwell Brothers Ivy Chapel, 2800 Paramount Blvd., with Dr. Ron Muller, pastor of Palo Duro Baptist Church in Wildorado, officiating. Burial will follow in Llano Cemetery. Billy was born Jan. 18, 1961, in Amarillo to William R. White and Karen Lee Reno. He was a lifetime resident of Amarillo. Billy graduated from Canyon High School and was a licensed plumber and pipe fitter. He was a member of the Plumbers and Steam Fitters local union No. 196 for over 20 years. He recently returned from Iraq, after spending a year and a half constructing housing for U.S. servicemen. He had worked for Scottco and Plains Plumbing throughout his career. Billy was a charter member of Coulter Road 4-H Club, and showed and trained American quarter horses. He fell in love with Harley-Davidson motorcycles as a young child and they remained a source of great enjoyment to him throughout his life. He loved to fish and spend time with his three sons. He was a loving husband, father, son and brother, and was a delight to everyone who knew him. He was a man with great depth of personality and sense of humor. He was loving, giving and tender hearted, and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Melanie; three sons, Tristan, Colton and Hunter, all of Amarillo; his parents; a sister, Kristy Lesniak of Amarillo; and many loving friends, uncles, aunts and cousins. She loved animals and gardening and was a very loving mother and grandmother. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1979; and a brother, E.A. Schroeder Jr., in 2005. Mr. Sorensen was born June 22, 1951, in Denver to George and Pauline Sorensen. He graduated from Sanford-Fritch High School and received his bachelor of music education degree from WTAMU in May 1974. He married Elizabeth Stephenson on April 3, 1971, at the Hill Chapel on the WTAMU campus in Canyon. He was a band director for eight years, four of them with the Hereford ISD . In 1981, Layne made a career change and used his talents in woodworking to open his own business, L & L Sorensen. Layne and his wife, Liz, have remodeled homes throughout the Hereford area for the last 25 years. They were featured in a recent newspaper article that quoted them as saying: "Remodeling homes has given us the chance to meet a variety of wonderful people. We get to know our customers as our friends." Survivors include his wife; two sons, Greg Sorensen and wife Stephanie of Georgetown and Randy Sorensen and wife April of Farmers Branch; his parents; a brother, Gary Sorensen and wife Olga of Las Cruces, N.M.; and four grandchildren. Arrangements are by Parkside Chapel Funeral Home of Hereford. Mr. Yarbro was born Jan. 16, 1922 in Decaterville, Tenn., the son of Joe H. and Carrie Lee Fisher Yarbro. At an early age, he and his family moved to Elsa. He married Joan Pickens on Feb. 11, 1942, in Edinburg. Mr. Yarbro was a veteran, having served in the Army during World War II, and was part of the famed "Red Ball Express," delivering supplies to the front lines in the European Theater. He moved to Hereford in 1946, where he was involved in numerous investments and businesses, including Hereford Welding, the Chemical Company of Texas, Tri-State Cattle Feeders and served 22 years as a director of the Hereford State Bank. Mr. Yarbro was a member of the Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford, the Hereford Senior Citizens and a lifetime member of the Hereford American Legion. He was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Johnny Wall; and four brothers, Joe H. Yarbro, Will Wyman, Wes Wyman and Walter Wyman.
