Mrs. Conner was born Sept. 2, 1919, in Wills Point to John and Ruthy McGee Waits. She married J.E. "Blackie" Conner on Dec. 30, 1939. She was a homemaker. She loved playing bridge, fishing, camping and working in the yard. Denith was a member of the Assembly of God church. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 30, 1972; and a brother, Jack Delton Waits. Amarillo Globe-News, May 26, 2006 Charles "Charlie" Morris MEMPHIS - Charles "Charlie" Morris, 83, died Thursday, May 25, 2006, in Amarillo. Graveside services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Cemetery in Memphis with the Rev. Gary Boles officiating. Arrangements are by Hughs Funeral Home of Memphis. Mr. Morris was born on Nov. 13, 1922, in Toyah to Clyde E. Morris and Viola Allen Scott Morris. He attended school in Toyah and Sanderson and graduated from high school in Memphis in 1942. Mr. Morris went directly into the United States Navy and served as a gunner's mate for five years, three months and six days, until being discharged in October 1947. He lived in Amarillo for several years, where he worked for Pantex. He returned to Memphis and worked for the Soil Conservation Service. Mr. Morris married Jo Murdock Hawkins on Sept. 21, 1973, in Memphis. He was preceded in death by his wife on Aug. 29, 2000; his parents; and three sisters, Nancy Carolyn Morris, Mamie Grace Williams and Marjorie Hancock. Amarillo Globe-News, May 26, 2006 Robert "Nelson" Canode Jr. Robert "Nelson" Canode Jr., 54, of Amarillo died Friday, May 19, 2006, in Spring. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Sunday in Westminster Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Jeff Conway and the Rev. Marty Loberg officiating. Nelson was born on Dec. 8, 1951, in Amarillo to Robert Nelson Canode Sr. and Shirley Stern. He graduated from Tascosa High School in 1970 and spent most of his life in Amarillo before settling in Spring with his wife, Debbie. He had a prolific career in sales, which included his own flooring company he opened in 2002. The company prospered not only locally, but all along the southeastern United States as well. Nelson lived a vibrant life, filled with stories. From beginning to end, he took everything he did to the limit and then went a little further. It was all or nothing with "Ol' Nelly," as he liked to refer to himself. He was bigger than life, impacting everyone and everything he came into contact with. To know Nelson five minutes was to remember him forever. He was fun and funny, always laughing and playing practical jokes, always the life of the party, even if there wasn't one. He had a great passion for golf, which he shared most often with his sister and a passion for filling his life with stories that he shared most often with his brother and friends. His love for bowling was shared with his sons, whom he consistently beat, coining the phrase "Touchdown, Nelly!" He loved to go out to eat and try new restaurants, taking his family along as much as possible to make the experience all the better. Above all else, his greatest passion was loving his family. There was no limit to how much he loved. As a grandfather, father, husband, brother, uncle and friend he was greatly loved and appreciated and will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents. She graduated from high school in Cheyenne and attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo., receiving an associate of music degree. She married Harold Hal Ochsner on Feb. 14, 1946, in Denver. They moved to Amarillo in May 1949 for Hal to set up his law practice. Rosemary was an accomplished pianist and played the marimba in numerous concerts. She worked as a legal secretary before raising her two daughters. Rosemary was a member of the Carol Lynn Singers and Amarillo Philharmonic Music Club. As a member of the First Baptist Church she sang in the choir. Rosemary had many hobbies that she enjoyed. Her favorite hobby was fishing, especially dry-fly fishing. Rosemary always caught the biggest fish and the most fish of anyone in the group. She loved to play cards, board games and bingo. Rosemary was an avid gardener, bowler, stamp and coin collector. She accompanied Hal to most of the civic activities in which he was involved such as Lions Club, Amarillo Gun Club and Khiva Shrine. Rosemary's great joy in her later life was attending sporting and school activities of her six grandchildren. She never missed a game or school program. She was preceded in death by her husband in May 2003.
