Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. John Wagoner of the Craig Methodist Retirement Community officiating. Mr. Berk was born in Bethlehem, Pa., on Feb 1, 1920, to Eugene and Clare Berk. He lived in Philadelphia, attended Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated from New York University. He was a World War II veteran, stationed in the Pacific. He owned Sharlyn Fashions in New York City, a children's wear manufacturing company. Mr. Berk returned to Delray Beach as a retiree in 1982, and he moved to Amarillo in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Fritzie Berk; two sons, Dr. Steven Berk and wife Shirley and their children Jeremy and Justin, all of Amarillo, and Dr. Marc Berk and wife Helene and their children Joseph and Rachel, all of Gaithersburg, Md.; and a sister, Charlotte Fromme and husband Chase of Boca Raton, Fla. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, May 31, 2006 Sol Causey Sol Causey, 74, of Amarillo died Monday, May 29, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in North Beacon Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Jerry Thomas officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Causey was born Feb. 15, 1932, in Clarksville and moved to Amarillo in 1951. He married Alice Campbell on June 2, 1952. Mr. Causey was a self-employed business owner for many years. He attended North Beacon Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Edwina Causey in 1960 and Kelley Sue Causey in 1989, and a brother, Wilburn Causey. Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Shasta Taylor, Rhonda Bustos and Elizabeth Donald, all of Amarillo; two sons, Darrell Causey of LaGrange, Ga., and Eddy Causey of Houston; a brother, Billy Causey of Amarillo; a sister, Della Leathers of De Kalb; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mr. Pearson was born May 12, 1940, in Denton. He worked as an automotive mechanic. Emily married Floyd Sterling on July 12, 1940, in Tulsa, Okla. The family will be at 212 Calle Questa in Fritch. Amarillo Globe-News, May 31, 2006 Joseph Harold "Joe" Achord PAMPA - Joseph Harold "Joe" Achord, 79, died Monday, May 29, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel with the Rev. Howard Lynn Rhodes of Surprise, Ariz., officiating. Mr. Achord was born March 12, 1927, in Centralia, Okla. He was one of 12 children born to Dulcy and Ora Achord. He served two years in the U.S. Army, and after being discharged, he moved to Guymon, Okla. He married Clara Dee Arnett on May 5, 1947, in Liberal, Kan. They moved to Hobbs, N.M., in 1950 where he was employed by Cabot. He transferred to Pampa in 1954 and retired in 1987. He was a longtime member of Highland Baptist Church. He was a member of the Pampa Optimist Club, where he worked with the baseball program. He was an avid bowler. He also helped with the building of the Hidden Hills Golf Course and was a member of the Moose Lodge. He was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Joe Achord; his parents; three sisters; three brothers; and five brothers-in-law. Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Bennett of Pampa; two grandchildren, Kelly Bennett of Jenks, Okla., and Kimberly Cryer and husband Brent of Edmond, Okla.; two great-grandchildren, Cade Cryer and Jace Cryer, both of Edmond; five sisters, Marie, Faye, Mary Lou, Bobbie and Pat; a brother-in-law, Arland Arnett of Amarillo; and several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Johnny Achord of Pampa. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in City of Sweetwater Cemetery in Sweetwater. Arrangements are by McCoy Funeral Home of Sweetwater and Oak Hills Mortuary of San Antonio. Mr. Guess was born Feb. 1, 1924, in Wharton to William Z. Guess and Flora Etta McNeil Guess. He was an exceptional athlete in high school, playing football, basketball, baseball, tennis and track, winning the Frank S. Haines trophy as the Most Valuable Player at Wharton High School in 1939 and 1940. He attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he played football, basketball and track. He was the first freshman to play varsity football in the Cotton Bowl in 1943. He entered the U.S. Army for the next three years and was in Company I, 307th Infantry. Upon returning to UT, he earned All-Southwest Conference honors in football and All-American honors as a javelin thrower in track. After graduating with a master's degree in education, he coached football and track at Sherman and Amarillo High School. Following his coaching career, he worked in the real estate and insurance business. The impact Frank had on others was significant. From the athletes he coached and with whom he played, to his friends, business associates, and family, all were touched by his generosity and compassion. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Margaret Jean Bradford Guess; a sister, Eloise Switzer; and a brother, William Guess. Survivors include two daughters, Lynn Rush and husband Avery of Amarillo and their four children, Jave, Ryan and wife Allison, Sloan and wife Jennifer and Hayden Rush, and Christy Kerr and husband Andy of San Antonio and their three children, Spencer, Philip and Paige. Mrs. Henslee had many accomplishments in her life including secretary, artist, carpenter, golfer and bridge player. She was a member of the Houston Geological Society Auxiliary.
