Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. today in Schooler Funeral Home Brentwood Chapel, 4100 S. Georgia St., with the Rev. John Wagoner of Craig Methodist Retirement Community officiating. Mr. Berk was born Feb. 1, 1920, in Bethlehem, Pa., to Eugene and Clare Berk. He lived in Philadelphia, attended Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated from New York University. He was a World War II veteran, stationed in the Pacific. He owned Sharlyn Fashions in New York City, a children's wear manufacturing company. Mr. Berk returned to Delray Beach as a retiree in 1982, and he moved to Amarillo in 2002. He was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include his wife, Fritzie Berk; two sons, Dr. Steven Berk and wife Shirley and their children, Jeremy and Justin, all of Amarillo, and Dr. Marc Berk and wife Helene and their children, Joseph and Rachel, all of Gaithersburg, Md.; and a sister, Charlotte Fromme and husband Chase of Boca Raton, Fla. The family suggests memorials be to a favorite charity. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2006 Kenneth Gene Russell Kenneth Gene Russell, 74, of Muskogee, Okla., formerly of Amarillo, died Monday, May 29, 2006. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Friday in Memorial Park Cemetery with Dr. Chester Beavers officiating. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Mr. Russell was born in Mountain View, Okla. He was a resident of Amarillo for 27 years before moving to Shamrock in 1996 and then to Muskogee in 2005. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was the recipient of a Presidential Unit Citation. Mr. Russell was in construction for many years and retired from the maintenance department of BSA Hospital. He married Betty Jewell Russell in 1955 in Panhandle. She preceded him in death in 1998. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Joel Alexander Russell; and a brother, Loyel Dean Russell. Survivors include three sons, Kenny Russell of Amarillo, Bill Russell of Canadian and Kelly Russell of Lowell, Ark.; a daughter, Jane Russell Parish of Amarillo; his companion, Patsy McCoy of Muskogee; two brothers, Bobby Ray Russell of Chickasha, Okla., Odell Russell of Amarillo; two sisters, Phyllis Ann Fuller and Patsy Jane Pierson, both of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2006 DeLoris Bellomy Strauss DeLoris Bellomy Strauss, 81, of Amarillo died Wednesday, May 31, 2006. Coulter St. Mrs. Strauss was raised in the Oklahoma Panhandle. She married her beloved husband, Raymond, in 1945, and they moved to Amarillo in 1952. Mrs. Strauss loved horses, sewing and most of all her family and all her dear friends. She was a member of South Georgia Baptist Church. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include her husband, Raymond "Ray" Strauss; four daughters, Bonnie Carney and Connie Wilson, both of Amarillo, Marilyn Jackson of Arlington and Janet Head of Irving; two sons, Dempsey Strauss and Raymond Douglas Strauss, both of Amarillo; 11 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2006 Goldie Gill Roberts Goldie Gill Roberts, 94, of Amarillo died Monday, May 29, 2006. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors Colonial Chapel in Pampa with the Rev. John Wagoner, chaplain of Craig Retirement Center, officiating. Burial will be in Miami Cemetery. Mrs. Roberts was born Aug. 1, 1911, in Hemphill County on the family ranch. She was reared in Miami, graduating from Miami High School in 1930, and attended West Texas State College for one year. She moved to Shattuck, Okla., where she owned and operated Hollywood Dress Shop. She then moved to Woodward, Okla., in 1936. She married Harold "Hi" Roberts in 1943 in Taloga, Okla. He preceded her in death on Jan. 10, 1993. She and her husband owned and operated Roberts Brothers Sporting Goods and Bowling Alley in Woodward for more than 35 years. She was a member of First Christian Church of Miami. She was an avid golfer and a member of the Municipal Golf Course in Woodward. She had been a resident of Pampa from 1996, moving to Amarillo in 2002. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett Gill, Slack Gill, Bill Gill and Randall Gill; and a sister, Georgia Gill Corse. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery with flag detail by American Legion Post No. 224. Mr. Roberts was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Brownwood. He had been a Dumas resident since August 1969. He served in the Army in World War II from 1942 until 1946, was a truck driver for Vulcan Chemical and a lifetime member of Dumas VFW post No. 9022. He married Berneice Hoadley on Jan. 16, 1960, in Hobbs, N.M. Survivors include his wife, Berneice Roberts; a son, Jack Hoadley and wife Sarah of Wisconsin; two daughters, Kathy Hamby and husband Harold and Debi Starr, all of Dumas; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. The family will be at 807 N.E. Second in Dumas. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2006 James R. Tindall Sr. SHAMROCK - James R. Tindall Sr., 81, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006, in Amarillo. Private family services will be at a later date. Arrangements are by Wright Funeral Directors. James R. Tindall Sr., a Texas farming and ranching businessman, died May 30, 2006, in Amarillo. He was born Jan. 27, 1925, in Shamrock to J.M. and Maymie Tindall. He graduated from Shamrock High School and Oklahoma State University and earned a MBA from Harvard University. He was selected to Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities and served as president of his beloved Sigma Chi fraternity for two years. He was president of Tindall Cotton of Lubbock, an import and export cotton firm, for more than 30 years. He was past president of the Lubbock Cotton Exchange and a member of the board of the Texas Cotton Association. In 1983 he returned to Shamrock to manage the family business and retired in 2000. Mr. Tindall was a veteran of World War II and was an active member of the Deshazo George Post No. 68 in Shamrock, having served as post commander. He was a Master Mason of the Grand Lodge of Texas. He married Ahmy Rolater on March 25, 1949, in Stillwater, Okla. Survivors include his wife and sweetheart of Sigma Chi of 57 years, Ahmy; two sons, Jim Tindall of Minneapolis and John Tindall of Dallas; and two grandchildren, Walker and Catherine. Amarillo Globe-News, June 1, 2006 Ann Carson DUMAS - Ann Carson, 83, of Oklahoma City, formerly of Dumas, died Tuesday, May 30, 2006. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Baggerley Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, Okla. Mrs. Carson was born Oct. 22, 1922, in Wichita Falls, moving to Dumas in 1952. In Dumas she worked at K-Bob's for 10 years, and was a longtime member of Ninth and Bliss Church of Christ. Survivors include a daughter, Artie Boes of Oklahoma City; a sister, Nita Thomason of Dumas; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Danny served in the U.S. Army and Navy during the Vietnam War and was a member of the VFW of Amarillo, Texas, and the Mount Vernon Moose Lodge. His father and a grandson preceded him in death.
