Services will be at 4 p.m. Wednesday in Paramount Terrace Christian Church with the Rev. Roy S. Wheeler officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Bell was born July 24, 1923, in Amarillo to O.A. Pitt, who was a building contractor, and Maude Pitt, who was a homemaker. She graduated from Amarillo High School in 1940. She worked at the Amarillo Air Base from 1943 to 1946. She married Lt. Bob Ball on Oct. 7, 1944. This marriage lasted until the Korean recall, when Bob was killed on June 16, 1951. His plane went down as he was coming home on Father's Day. This union produced one son, Glenn. Leona was very active being both a mother and a father to Glenn. On Dec. 7, 1968, she married Jack Bell. She then became a mother for the second time to Jack's son, Donald. Jack passed away on March 17, 1981. She was a member of Paramount Terrace Christian Church. Leona had many hobbies including oil painting, china painting and world traveling. She was also preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Opal Vinatieri; five brothers, Loyal, Tom, Ivan, Otto and Bobby Pitt; a grandchild; and a great-grandchild. Survivors include two sons, Glenn E. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2006 Marcella Stadolnik Marcella Stadolnik, 90, of Amarillo died Sunday, June 4, 2006. Services will be held later this week in New Haven, Conn. Burial will be in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Arrangements are by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St. Mrs. Stadolnik was born and raised in New Haven. She has been a resident of Amarillo for the past five years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Adolph Stadolnik; a brother, Frank Bukaitis; and a grandson, Michael Patry. Coulter St., Amarillo, TX 79106. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2006 Ray "Buzz" Busby Ray "Buzz" Busby, 70, of Amarillo died Monday, June 5, 2006. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Cal Farley's Boys Ranch Arena with Ty Jones, pastor of Cowboy Church, and Murray McKenzie officiating. Burial will be in Boys Ranch Cemetery by Cox-LaGrone Funeral Home, 4180 Canyon Drive. Mr. Busby was born Sept. 17, 1935, in Olton and was raised at Cal Farley's Boys Ranch. Although he left there when he was 18, Buzz continued to contribute, in many ways, his time and effort to Boys Ranch. He was a ranch foreman there from 1965 to 1977. Thousands of boys at the ranch considered him a positive role model, always showing them patience and a kind heart. Buzz was also a rodeo cowboy and bull rider, traveling many places including Big Spring, where he met his lifelong companion, Judy Odessa Hodges. They married on Sept. 19, 1956. He also did many other things during his lifetime, including driving a dairy truck for Gandy's and building grain elevators for Gearn Industries in Hereford until his retirement in 1992. Buzz had great respect for God, Cal Farley and John Wayne. Buzz touched the hearts and lives of many including his family and the boys he raised at Boys Ranch. He will be greatly missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Olivia Busby; two brothers, Clyde Busby and Calvin Busby; and two sisters, Mae Maness and Ida Galvez. Mr. Findley was born March 21, 1935, in Shamrock to Walter and Faye Doughtery Findley. He was a cement contractor before retirement. Georgia St. Mr. Moore was born in Claude on Dec. 27, 1927. He attended school in Claude and graduated from high school there in 1945. He also attended West Texas State Teachers College. He served in the Army during World War II and the Korean War. He has been married to Audrey Jane Priest for 52 years. Mr. Moore was a 50-year Master Mason and belonged to Palo Duro Masonic Lodge No. 1239. He worked in the meat and frozen food business for more than 50 years and retired as manager of San Jacinto Frozen Foods Inc. He was a member of First Christian Church He was preceded in death by his father, Robert J. Moore Sr. in 1982 and his mother, Margaret Leona Boyles Moore in 2000. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2006 Paul "Tige" Groves: 1906-2006 Paul "Tige" Groves STINNETT - Paul "Tige" Groves, 99, died Friday, June 2, 2006. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. today in Stinnett Cemetery with Zeb Sailor, pastor of Stinnett Church of Christ, officiating. Arrangements are by Brown Funeral Directors of Stinnett. Mr. Groves was born July 7, 1906, in Wheeler County and moved to Hutchinson County when he was 2 years old. He was raised north of Stinnett on the Old Groves Home Place and attended the Groves school. His parents were Frank and Maggie Groves. Tige was the 10th of 11 kids. As a young man, Tige rode on many cattle drives and worked for some of the old ranchers. Later in life, he worked many years for Nabob Oil Co. He always was a handyman and could fix or build anything. One thing Tige loved to do was build fence. He loved the outdoors and building fence was right down his alley. Tige built a lot of the fences from Stinnett to Lake Meredith and many ranchers in the local area always called on him to build or repair their fences. Tige loved to garden and used to have some of the most beautiful gardens in town. The one thing that his grandchildren will remember are all the stories, jokes and sayings that he could tell. Many stories were told over and over with a lot of history of the Texas Panhandle. Tige knew the history of Hutchinson County very well. He supplied much history of Hutchinson County to locals, newspapers and anyone who would listen. Tige loved a good joke and loved to laugh. He could fill the room with his laughter. In Tige's later years, he enjoyed reading the Bible and became very knowledgeable of the Scriptures. This was one thing he missed after his eyesight went bad. Tige married Pauline "Polly" Wilson on Aug. 25, 1934. She preceded him in death in 1990. Together, they had three children. The family would like to thank all of Tige's nieces, nephews and longtime friends for stopping by and visiting with him when they could. He always loved their company. Special "thanks" to his caregivers, Vicky Cordova and Harlene Judkins. As Granddaddy Tige always said, "Shut the door, Richard." He was also preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, Amos, Richard, Gus, Tom, Fred and Ernest Groves; and three sisters, Faye Morton, Margurite Groves and Blanche Britain. Survivors include a son, Rob Groves and wife Jorita of Bushland; two daughters, Rue Paula Duncan and husband VJ of Canyon and Susie Butler and husband Russ of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Hazel Thompson of Stinnett, who is 105 years old; two sisters-in-law, Maple Wilson of Amarillo and Allie May Clark of Canyon; nine grandchildren, Jo Angela Lamb, Rob E. Mrs. Porter was born April 22, 1913, in Childress to H.C. and Priscilla Jane Cox. Her family moved to Dalhart in 1917. She attended school in Dalhart and was a beautician at the Bowling Beauty Shop. She married Russell Porter on Dec. 31, 1933. He died on April 23, 1991. Velma was a volunteer at the Coon Memorial Nursing Home and an active member of First Baptist Church while living in Dalhart. She also volunteered at the Senior Citizens Association. She moved to Tyler in 2000 to be near her daughters. She became a member of Woods Baptist Church and remained active there until her health no longer allowed. Witthar on Feb. 3, 1941, in Goodland, Kan. Burial was in Melrose Cemetery by Steed-Todd Funeral Home of Clovis. Mrs. Rogers was born Sept. 12, 1909, in Haslet, Texas, to O.J. and Fannie Bell Awtrey. She was the longest living member of First United Methodist Church in Melrose. Amarillo Globe-News, June 6, 2006 Catherine Cauthen: 1924-2006 Catherine Cauthen ARLINGTON - Catherine Cauthen, 81, died Sunday, June 4, 2006. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo with the Rev. Jim Shelburne officiating. Arrangements are by Wade Family Funeral Home. Mrs. Cauthen passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 4, in Arlington. Catherine was born Oct. 9, 1924, in Haskell County. As a child, she moved to the Amherst area and graduated from Amherst High School. After graduation, she moved to Lubbock and met her future husband, Ralph Cauthen and was married on March 30, 1944. They lived in Lubbock, Littlefield and Midland before moving to Amarillo in 1962, and until her death, Catherine called Amarillo her home. After 25 years, she retired from K-Mart. Almost three years ago, she relocated to Arlington to be close to her family. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the caring and compassionate employees of Angelic Place and Vitas Innovative Hospice Care. She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 52 years in February 1996. Survivors include a daughter, Helen Howe of Arlington; a grandson, Steve Howe and wife Wendy of Crowley; a granddaughter, Leslie Howe of Bolivar, Mo.; a brother, James McCain of Odessa; and numerous nieces and nephews. He married Betty JoAnn Blankenship on June 15, 1950, in Dodge City. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Allen Ray Nichols of Cimarron, Ronnie Willard Nichols of Ingalls and Kelly Lynn Nichols of Dodge City; a daughter, Mrs. Bill Schwartz of Amarillo, Texas; two sisters, Viola Wedel and Verda Giesbrecht, both of Montezuma; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
