Wake services will be at 7:30 p.m. today in St. Francis Convent Chapel. Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday in the Chapel with Bishop John W. Yanta as celebrant. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Sister Lawrence was born Aug. 8, 1922, in Atrisco, N.M. She received her initial religious training in Santa Fe, N.M., from 1941 to 1944, making her first profession of vows in 1944, when she was sent to Amarillo to work in Price College. She served in various missions and seminaries in New Mexico, the Canal Zone, California and the Texas Panhandle. She retired from active ministry in 1994, remaining in Amarillo until her death. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother. Survivors include Annie Crawford of California; William Apodaca of Amarillo; several cousins and relatives in New Mexico; as well as the Franciscan Sisters of the United States Province. Amarillo Globe-News, June 22, 2006 ======================================================================== Helen Lemons Helen Lemons, 97, of Amarillo died Wednesday, June 21, 2006. A service of worship and celebration honoring her life will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday in St. Paul United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 E. Interstate 40. Helen was born May 6, 1909, in Quanah to Barney and Lillian Jones. She and her sister, Frances, were two of the four first graduates of Kim High School in Kim, Colo. She married her high school sweetheart, James "Jimboy" Lewis in 1927, and they settled in Kim. After the death of her husband, Helen and her two children moved to Amarillo. She later married Carl Lemons and began working as a bookkeeper for John Maynard Lumber Co., which later became Amarillo Lumber Co. She retired after working there 30 years. Upon retirement, Helen and her son's family owned Stretch and Sew Fabrics, where she taught sewing classes. Helen and her husband, Carl, were charter members of St. Paul United Methodist Church and remained faithful members all their lives. Helen was a lifelong learner, with a tremendous work ethic. In her 80s, she continued to work, having several part-time jobs. She was given a computer by her grandson, which she used and enjoyed every day. Survivors include a son, Clifford Lewis of Amarillo; and a daughter, Jimie McDaniel of Amarillo; a stepson, Donald Lemons of Austin; a half-sister, Marjorie DeLong of Birmingham, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Osage St. Mrs. Potter was born Nov. 11, 1933, in Hollis, Okla. She was better known as Nita to all who knew her, and a member of Southwest Church of Christ. Mrs. Potter was a kind and caring person who enjoyed writing poems. Survivors include two daughters, Denita Johnson of Oklahoma City and Dorene Fetterman of Amarillo; two sons, Rudy Greer and Clyde Potter, both of Amarillo; a brother, Ray Evans of Oregon; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in Jubilee Apostolic Church with the Rev. Royce D. Elms officiating. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by N.S. Griggs & Sons Funeral Directors, 2615 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Robbins was born Aug. 20, 1921, in Henryetta, Okla., and raised in Amarillo. He graduated from Amarillo High in 1939. His first job was as a caddy at Amarillo Country Club, where he fell in love with the game of golf. He joined the Army and served during World War II, being stationed in Kodiak, Alaska. He worked for Southwestern Public Service Co. for 42 years as an accountant. He married his soul mate, Betty Musick, on May 23, 1976. Mr. Robbins had been a resident of the Thomas E. Creek VA Medical Center Nursing Home since 2003, where he loved all the residents and staff. He was a member of the Jubilee Apostolic Church, where he was a board member. A special thanks to all of the staff at the VA Nursing Home for their love and care and all of our family and friends for all of their thoughts and prayers. He was preceded in death by his parents Grady T. Robbins Sr. and wife, Ester; a son, Kenneth Robbins; and a daughter, Sandy Ashford. Survivors include his wife, Betty Robbins of Amarillo; three daughters, Becky Perez of Winslow, Ariz., and Glenda Daniels and Tammy Long, both of Amarillo; a sister, JoAnn Frost of Amarillo; a brother, Johnnie Robbins of Dickson, Tenn.; 15 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Al Eugene McClellan, formerly of Gruver, after a lengthy, courageous and inspirational battle against cancer, was called to his Heavenly Home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 21, 2006. Al was born on Christmas Eve 1939 to Herbert E. and Maude E. McClellan of Gruver. After accepting Christ as his Savior, Al graduated at the top of his high school class and was voted the school's most outstanding musician. Al earned an accounting degree by playing football at West Texas State University and later received a master's degree at WTSU. Al became a CPA in 1974, after beginning a career in the oil and gas business with Mesa Petroleum Co. in 1967. Al was active in the Council of Petroleum Accountants Society. He was a self-employed business owner who turned his business life and career over to the Lord in 1984. Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Betty A. Laird McClellan; loving children, Michael E. and Michelle McClellan, Marilyn D. and James Ping, Michelle A. McClellan Brown and Mark D. and Lauren McClellan; grandchildren, Annette Ping, Cody Brown and Aleece McClellan; a sister, E. Sue McClellan Thornton; and a niece, Julie Thornton.
